Why do girls wish to break your heart? (or at least mine)

I just want to know. That's all. Plain and simple. I never want to date again.

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 15 April 2004 23:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Because you let them.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Thursday, 15 April 2004 23:02 (twenty-two years ago)

well, i think its because their heartless souls who like to see nothing better than a good man brought down, crying into his bacardi and coke, singing a bad approximation of Gram Parsons' recording of Love Hurts.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 15 April 2004 23:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Revenge for wage inequality, obviously.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Thursday, 15 April 2004 23:08 (twenty-two years ago)

i thought boys who drink barcadi and coke don't go out with girls.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 15 April 2004 23:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Thursday, 15 April 2004 23:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Thursday, 15 April 2004 23:34 (twenty-two years ago)

aNatheMa (aNatheMa), Friday, 16 April 2004 02:48 (twenty-two years ago)

-- strongo hulkington (dubplatestyl...), April 16th, 2004.

Sprayed coffee all over my desk. Thanks Jess.

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 16 April 2004 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

A HEART CAN'T BE BROKEN UNLESS IT IS STUPID

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 16 April 2004 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

anyone who ever had a heart, they wouldn't turn around and break it.

no i disagree, heartache's for the cultured the delightful and the poetic. Vive l'amour malade!

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Friday, 16 April 2004 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Like circles on a tree trunk. Heartbreak scars, dignifies, strengthens, is your history.

All my good good lovers have had their heart broken. All my worst remained immune. Life and love aren't something you can insulate yourself from.

Lord, does that sound like a song/ Soz. BK x

badger Kitten (badger Kitten), Friday, 16 April 2004 19:25 (twenty-two years ago)

A pretty cool song. Maybe I'll tell you my story in months to come. Mmkay?

aNatheMa (aNatheMa), Sunday, 18 April 2004 02:35 (twenty-two years ago)

JuliaA (j_bdules), Sunday, 18 April 2004 03:04 (twenty-two years ago)

A winter's day
In a deep and dark December;
I am alone,
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow.
I am a rock,
I am an island.
I've built walls,
A fortress deep and mighty,
That none may penetrate.
I have no need of friendship; friendship causes pain.
It's laughter and it's loving I disdain.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

Don't talk of love,
But I've heard the words before;
It's sleeping in my memory.
I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died.
If I never loved I never would have cried.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

I have my books
And my poetry to protect me;
I am shielded in my armor,
Hiding in my room, safe within my womb.
I touch no one and no one touches me.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

And a rock feels no pain;
And an island never cries.

Johnney B (Johnney B), Sunday, 18 April 2004 12:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah yeah yeah, that's how everyone is, "numb" in their mind. They're all full of crap though. My friend told me he doesn't give a shit then got mad because I said that Mother Mary couldn't possibly be a virgin. Hmmm...

It's nice anyways though, don't get me wrong lol.

Women like money and expensive holidays and gifts and materialism - are you providing that?

CRW (CRW), Sunday, 18 April 2004 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not big into expensive holidays, and I'm a girl. I don't like materialism too much.

Look at what Catholic school does to those who pay attention!

Aja (aja), Sunday, 18 April 2004 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Johnney, i always thought it was a breach of forum protocol to post whole transcripts of Paul Simon songs.

non-u, Sunday, 18 April 2004 16:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmm, you're the first I've met then. I know a girl who is currently EXPECTING an expensive holiday from her boyfriend and who plans to dump him when something better comes along. Of all the people I know/ have known - the guys I know are really into dedication and finding the right person, whereas the girls are the opposite (unless, inevitably, the person has the right amount of cash).

Of course I could be hanging out with the wrong people.

CRW (CRW), Sunday, 18 April 2004 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

take me out!

even mineral water is too worldly for my ascetic palate.

non-u, Sunday, 18 April 2004 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't like mineral water, too much. What's so great about it?

Aja (aja), Sunday, 18 April 2004 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Aja, it inconceivable that you are cheaper than i.

so drop.

non-u, Sunday, 18 April 2004 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Probably.

It's not like I'm cheap, but I won't really go for the most expensive of all.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 18 April 2004 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Please, stop being so playful

non-u, Sunday, 18 April 2004 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

So girls break hearts because they're too weak to break anything else? I'm missing the point...(waits for the pictures of pure-muscle chicks that really freak everyone out!!!)

aNatheMa (aNatheMa), Sunday, 18 April 2004 21:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Girls don't like boys, girls like cars and money.

Good Charlotte (Prude), Sunday, 18 April 2004 21:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Like I said before - feminism begins and ends with Mick Hucknall (or Rod Stewart/ Hugh Hefner/ Fred Durst etc)... it don't matter what you look like as long as you got enough $$$ to promise a few holidays and diamond rings along the way.

That's why so many guys lurve the idea of being rich and famous - it brings with it previously unobtainable women almost overnight.

CRW (CRW), Sunday, 18 April 2004 22:18 (twenty-two years ago)

One of the funniest moments of my life was seeing some dreadful white mock rasta (probably from god forsaken glasgow commuter town) talking with a guy i know outside the uni library saying: "Bitches be nice but they be expensive"

oh. dear.

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Sunday, 18 April 2004 22:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I might just be trying to start an arguement of course...

CRW (CRW), Sunday, 18 April 2004 22:23 (twenty-two years ago)

So all men want that kind of woman? The kind that comes with money and famousness?

Jesus, I am so far off track it's not funny.

xx-post
