Two questions:

1. Why are you using Outlook Express?
2. Stop using Outlook Express

i use outlook express because it's there and it works, until i get some virus on my computer.

You havent a virus, it sounds more like one of those URL hijacker trojans. Download and run Adaware or Spybot, that should pick up any nasties.

Oh and, if you use OE, run it with the preview screen turned off and HTML emails disabled - that prevents sneaky HTML code being able to execute.

Outlook is an open door with 'spank me' written on the lintel, See the latest worm Netsky-V for details. For peace of mind use something like Eudora for your mail.

Kate - you are? The connectnet address? Hrm. Thats weird. The somethingorother one tends to bounce as it's just a spamcatcher btw.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 18 April 2004 06:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Hahaha Ed - so true. I love Eudora. Sadly at work, they have FORCED us all onto Outlook over Exchange, and it is a horrible turd of a thing.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 18 April 2004 06:05 (twenty-two years ago)

yup, thats the one i'm sending to. Oh well. Read and Received will do I spose. Can't out my original comments in a public forum though :P

A work we use Outlook and exchange as well, pain in the arse, but one more crash of the exchange server and I might be able to push open groupware in there instead.

(aside nothing to do with thread, sorry) Kate, I found the post in question and seriously, I dunno why youre worried. Its all good :)

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 18 April 2004 08:15 (twenty-two years ago)

just erring on the side of caution :)

Outlook and Exchange? Luxury! We have to deal with LOTUS FUCKING NOTES. A program so broken its Reply To All option mangles email addresses.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 18 April 2004 09:44 (twenty-two years ago)

adaware has not removed my blue screen and i can't figure out how to import my mail into eudora. also i have no clean socks and there's no milk left for my tea.

matthew james (matthew james), Sunday, 18 April 2004 11:15 (twenty-two years ago)

i chose for outlook because you can use several accounts in the same program. (am i saying it right?) i don't worry much about viruses (viri?) since i have an apple.

jesus nathalie (nathalie), Sunday, 18 April 2004 11:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Both Mail.app and Eudora have multiple account handling and both do it pretty well. Outlook mac was open to a couple of word macro virii but those holes ought to be closed in any version from the last couple of years.
