i've never really thought about it like that
you hear piercings & tattoos together all the time so i guess everyone just assumes they're related in some way i guess
but really, tattoos and piercings are two different things
you may want a tattoo, but could care less about a piercing
and vice versa

Ears. My bro has fat steel hoops in both ears and he had his septum pierced but took it out over a year ago. For shits and giggles, he walks around with needles and toothpicks through his nose. I wanted to stick a small chickenbone through there. He refused.

Hmm, I like the IDEA of getting my tongue pierced, but I have a nasty feeling that the pain will destroy me, so I don't think I'll ever bother. Anyone with any personal anecdotes on how painful a tongue piercing is?

i had it done when i was a reckless 18yr old (it's gone now). i was shocked at how little it hurt. the guy said, "on the count of three. one, two" and did it. i barely felt it, and within 10 seconds the barbell was in place and it was over. healing, however, is a bitch.

I had two holes in each ear, and had one near the top of my left ear, but I haven't worn earrings in ages. And I had my navel pierced when I was 18, but I took the ring out about two years ago. I can still put earrings through it if I want to. Sometimes I do it when I'm bored.

I have no desire to pierce anything. Am I boring? Also, I don't recoil from girls with piercings (apart from ears), but I would certainly hope that if I dated them for a long time that they would eventually get rid of them.

Currently only both nipples. I've had my tongue, lip, ear cartilage pierced (worked at a piercing/tattoo parlor for a while after college.) Mostly it's a waste of time. Nipples are nice though.

I have a couple of holes in each year and one through my navel, which was done when I was a very bored and much skinnier 16 year old. Like piercings better than tattoos because they seem less permanent, you know? But there's also less room for creativity.

I'd like to have a nose ring, but I'm quite prone to getting terrible allergies, so I think that might not be a wise move.

I have two piercings in each ear, which is the only thing that prevents me from looking like I stepped out of some Fifties Teen Movie. I'd love to get a third set of ear piercings, but am going to hold off on that one for a year or two. And as of tonight I have yet to have any real inclination for getting a tattoo, either hidden or not. Am not exactly sure why, really.

I still really want to get that web of skin between my thumb and forefinger pierced. I came very close to doing it once but the piercer backed out.

Ach ya big wuss! It doesn't hurt at all, you are right about the 'go on, let's see' thing though.

I wasn't allowed to get my ears done until I was sixteen, I think this must have affected my brane coz now I have my, ears, nose & nipple (I also pierced the top of my ear myself with a safety pin years ago because I was MENTAL) pierced. I'm too fat to get anywhere else on my body done and I'm not keen on any other facial piercing (my nose stud is teeny weeny and flat against my nose) so I'm outta places to pierce ;0(

I hate the thought of tattoos though, I can take my piercings out or change the jewellery but tattoos are like the same for evah, ew!

I think once you get a few piercings you kinda wanna do more, it's difficult to resist the urge but as I said I'm not gonna get any of my fat bits done and facial piercing aint really my thang so....I think shock value did play a large part, for me anyway (I was young and rebellious!)

Why a nipple pierce? I dunno, wanted something pierced, and I don't go flashing my nipples at work, so it seemed like a good idea. Doesn't heighten sensitivity; if anything it actually deadened piles of nerves.

Well, it was rather funny! My friends paid for mine and it was a bloke that did it, they were outside in the waiting area but they could hear every word and giggled through the whole thing.

The guy actually said "if you are too embarassed to do the breathing excercises...." And I was like, I'm lying here with my breast out, you've just adjusted it, commented on the shape and proportion and drawn on it with felt tip, and you think breathing will embarass me?!

I paid for my friend's tattoo for her 18th b/day. She had to drop her trousers, it was quite funny! She was wincing whilst this guy next to her was having his arm done with absolutely no expression on his face. i couldn't see any part of his arm that wasn't tattooed so god knows what they tat artist was doing!

I was almost talked into getting "plugs" for my second set of piercings; apparently my ears were just right for that sort of thing, but I saw it and thought immediately that it wasn't for me but was diplomatic and just said "No thank you" instead of "My God that looks like the freakiest thing ever". I forgot to mensh before I also had an eyebrow piercing, and still would have it - except it grew off my face! I was warned this'd happen, the skin on the face tends to want to heal itself quite vigourously and the eyes are especially sensitive. Hurt like a fucker getting it done, but me and my shag of the time went together and took turns and crushed each others hands during it, was all good. He still has his tho, and I dont. I have a small scar instead (which isnt visible cos the eyebrow covers it up).

There was a girl at a party I went to 2 or 3 weekends ago who had those ear things, big flesh tunnel ones with what looked like bits of pipe in them, about an inch in diameter and an inch long.

There was a bunch of us sat talking on the landing and someone else there asked if it was possible to take them out. She asked if anyone had a weak stomach, then did it.

Okay, it was my one chance to do this, and I was a little bit drunk, so I asked if she'd mind me feeling them. Nope. So I put my fingers in and her extremely stretched lobes were quite rubbery and along the inside of the tunnels, the bit that would normally be pressing on the metal pipe things, they were quite sticky. I don't know if the stickiness was just sweat from pressing on the metal pipes or if it was kind of slightly pussy stuff from the healing process.

Anyway. Ew!

She was very cute tho!

My tongue was my first piercing (after my ears) Had it done for six years a little ruby stone on the top and a blue one underneath, but last year I ate it in a chip butty in Fort Augustus. The whole lot. And that was the end of that. Had my nip pierced for about a year but it got caught in a lacy bra and made my eyes water, so I took that out. Had my naval done until I developed a paunch, so got rid of that as well. Was fun at the time.
