okay i've been on stage like.. er... 3 times but i always like look to the audience when i am on and i always mistake/assume the eye contact the girls are making with me (cos they're looking at me) is because they fancy the pants off me and/or they must be groupies and i'm well in for a hubba-hubba whoopie squeek squeek uhuhuhuhuh growwwwwlllllll nudge nudge wink woohoo! and then you talk to them they think you're great but they're just normal music lovers and no sex is on.

c/d?

Every single male lead singer evah!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 April 2004 10:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, it's true. If you are onstage, girls will fancy you.

If you think they're looking at you... CHRIST!!! OF COURSE THEY'RE LOOKING AT YOU!!! YOU'RE ON STAGE, YOU DAFT BUGGER!!!

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 23 April 2004 10:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Classic - if they're in a heavy rock band, they're usually right

Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 23 April 2004 10:46 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, I should rephrase that. Not every single girl in the audience will fancy you. But girls in general, will fancy you.

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 23 April 2004 10:48 (twenty-two years ago)

i.e. there WILL be a girl there that fancies you, but in all likelihood, not necessarily the one that you fancy.

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 23 April 2004 10:48 (twenty-two years ago)

While you are onstage and/or performing, the magic bubble surrounds you. You may jump down, dance around, and the ladies may well fancy you a bit. You have the ability to dance with them without asking!

Soon as the show is over, bubble is gone. They are all back in their more sensible heads, and so are you. Normality is back.

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 23 April 2004 10:49 (twenty-two years ago)

This is why everybody else in the band hates the singer

Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 23 April 2004 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

so basically to get action i should perfect my fucking-on-stage routine?

xpost

ken c (ken c), Friday, 23 April 2004 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Fucking right

Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 23 April 2004 10:54 (twenty-two years ago)

No, Ken, you just have to find the girl in the audience that *will* actually sleep with you. HOwever, the bad news is that she's a crazy psychotic weirdo groupie!

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 23 April 2004 10:59 (twenty-two years ago)

haha kate, yeah i do understand that. but my brain is wired in a stupid vain way that thinks everyone fancies me. i think my reflection fancies me sometimes!

(this was xpost with the earlier post)

ken c (ken c), Friday, 23 April 2004 11:00 (twenty-two years ago)

i need to be onstage more often i think. i've always enjoyed it. the attention is great

ken c (ken c), Friday, 23 April 2004 11:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Ken, it's a rare condition, but others around here, suffer from it, too. (See also N)

;-)

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 23 April 2004 11:02 (twenty-two years ago)

The "limits of acceptable intimacy" raise, within the bubble.

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 23 April 2004 11:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Be careful, though, Ken. It can be addictive, being onstage. And then you get to the point where you feel like you *are* onstage, all the time, every second of the day, and start acting accordingly.

Not that, ha-HEM, I've EVER been guilty of that.

Super-Kate (kate), Friday, 23 April 2004 11:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I DO NOT THINK EVERYONE FANCIES ME.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 23 April 2004 11:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Sometimes they can just be completely blind though. My flatmate Tom had two giggling girls throw paper areoplanes with messages on them at him during a gig. "They really fancy you!" I say as he comes off stage. "Oh. Really? I just thought they thought I was crap."

Anna (Anna), Friday, 23 April 2004 11:07 (twenty-two years ago)

i think my reflection fancies me sometimes!

Surely it does then!!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 April 2004 11:37 (twenty-two years ago)

haha and then there's the girl in the audience (i.e. me) who always thinks the cute musicians are LOOKING AT HER OMG WTF HE'S SO CUTE. and maybe they are; maybe that's their schtick.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 23 April 2004 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

i miss the '80s, when rock stars would bring some pathetic-looking audience member onstage to sing their love song to like the experience would Touch That Person's Life or something.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 23 April 2004 12:01 (twenty-two years ago)

classic, because every lead singer thinks this. it's probably true most of the time. it doesn't matter how generally unattractive, idiotic, unpleasant, etc you are - get onstage and instantly a load of women will find you irresistable. the same rule usually holds for bartenders, but not quite as extreme.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 23 April 2004 12:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Lionel Richie would do this for his song "I just want to stroke your change to you"

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 23 April 2004 12:05 (twenty-two years ago)

oh classic, do we really want our rock stars to be shrinking violets?

jel -- (jel), Friday, 23 April 2004 15:43 (twenty-two years ago)

haha and then there's the girl in the audience (i.e. me) who always thinks the cute musicians are LOOKING AT HER OMG WTF HE'S SO CUTE.

I used to do this, I am so pathetic.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 23 April 2004 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

eleven months pass...
i really should try playing on stage more!

oh i need to write songs.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 14 April 2005 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

two years pass...

^^^ summarizes my relationship to the possibilities embodied in this thread's topic.
