god nital (dog latin), Saturday, 24 April 2004 01:26 (twenty-two years ago)

i feel embarassed for you, yes.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 24 April 2004 01:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Christianity weighs approximately 15 pounds in the average believer. Renounce the religion and the weight will go.

Momus (Momus), Saturday, 24 April 2004 04:01 (twenty-two years ago)

So if a soul weighs 21 grams, then that means the Christianity is a burden to the soul! It all makes so much sense now...

Girolamo Savonarola, Saturday, 24 April 2004 06:14 (twenty-two years ago)

are you a man because if you are then it's alright. Fat Phill from NMTBuzzcocks is a Machine.
If you are girl then I don't care since i don't like girls

splatter, Saturday, 24 April 2004 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

If you think you're too fat, get thinner. This can be done by, yes, eating less rubbish and doing sit-ups.

If you DON'T think you're too fat, and people just tell you you're too fat, then I wouldn't do anything at all.

Johnney B (Johnney B), Saturday, 24 April 2004 17:43 (twenty-two years ago)

You know I am fat. So fat. So very very fat. I have a severe orthopedic problem that is preventing exercise, and has resulted in an alarming weight gain, even in the absence of eating bons bons etc. It is a bone tumor in the leg, and severe arthritis in both knees. I'm not supposed to walk on it because my leg will break. I can't move my joints because pointy bone calcifications stab into the bones if I do. Bones tumors are associated with thyroid problems, so I am also hypothyroid, which causes weight gain. I am on meds for it but they really aren't solving the problem imho. I have to have a surgery. After the surgery I will not be able to walk for a long time. I will get fatter.

Make fun of me.

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 24 April 2004 18:22 (twenty-two years ago)

God, Orbit, that sounds terrible. I hope no one makes fun of you.

Cathy (Cathy), Saturday, 24 April 2004 20:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Is that a joke?

Ram, Saturday, 24 April 2004 20:52 (twenty-two years ago)

What? Mine wasn't.

Cathy (Cathy), Saturday, 24 April 2004 20:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah and back to the original thread... 15 pounds in how long?
If you have a few days then drink plenty, eat very little and take some "Adios" metabolism speeding up tablets.
If we're talking weeks then exercise and a healthy diet is the way forth, plus this way the weight will stay off- providing you don't pig out.
Good luck.

Ram, Saturday, 24 April 2004 20:55 (twenty-two years ago)

the one before yours, Orbit.

Ramenda, Saturday, 24 April 2004 20:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Orbit, my sympathy, for what it's worth.

Matt (Matt), Saturday, 24 April 2004 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, same here. Hope the surgery takes place soon, and that it goes well.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 24 April 2004 22:20 (twenty-two years ago)

thanks
much appreciated.

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 24 April 2004 22:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Orbit that makes me so sad.

Take care.

*hugs*

mei (mei), Sunday, 25 April 2004 11:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Eat less? Like fuck. Eat properly.
Merely eating less won't get you anywhere.

-- Autumn Almanac

Uh...wrong. Eat less. Exercise more. What you eat doesn't make any difference. This is how the diet people get rich.

Skottie, Monday, 26 April 2004 01:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Wrong my pants. Of course it's what you eat. If you tip 200 kilos of KFC down your gut you're going to weight substantially more than if you'd eaten 200 kilos of fruit and veg.

If you just eat less of the same food, your body's going to realise you're eating less and store fat. Eating properly is everything. The human body's a complicated organism, not a miniskip.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Uh wrong your pants. 200 kilos of KFC vs 200 kilos of fruit and veg. obv. don't have the same caloric value. Over a long period your body might figure out you were eating only one thing. It's about the calories you consume vs. the calories you burn. That is all. We're talking about weight loss.

Skottie, Monday, 26 April 2004 01:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, and if you eat the right foods, you don't have to eat less.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Calories you consume vs. calories you burn: If you are eating more calories, you need to burn more. So, yes, someone could potentially lose weight while living on buckets of KFC, but they'd have to exercise a lot more than someone eating fruits and vegetables.
Also, "I am so fat" are probably the most annoying four words strung together in the English language.
x-post

kirsten (kirsten), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:49 (twenty-two years ago)

You can get just as fat eating the "right" foods. You want to lose weight, eat fewer calories than you burn.

Skottie, Monday, 26 April 2004 01:52 (twenty-two years ago)

You want to lose weight, eat fewer calories than you burn.

Duh.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:59 (twenty-two years ago)

That is why KFC is out of the picture, unless you are, like, running a marathon every day.

kirsten (kirsten), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:59 (twenty-two years ago)

KFC's the complicated equivalent of stitching lead weights beneath your skin. Probably slightly more poisonous too. :)

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 26 April 2004 02:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, don't get me wrong! I love KFC. I just happen to also love my very round ass, so it all works out.

kirsten (kirsten), Monday, 26 April 2004 02:04 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah this all assumes your metabolism is working as it should be. anyone with medical problems(me) wants to decapitate you all.

Orbit (Orbit), Monday, 26 April 2004 02:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry, Orbit. All the best to you.

kirsten (kirsten), Monday, 26 April 2004 02:48 (twenty-two years ago)

didn't mean to be harsh. o just got frustrated.

Orbit (Orbit), Monday, 26 April 2004 02:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry Orbit, I was talking generally and I'm sure other people were too. Obviously, not everyone can eat the same types of food and be the same weight.

And yes, I love KFC, but eating it makes my arse inflate. Well it would if I ate enough, which I don't, because I don't want my arse to inflate.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 26 April 2004 03:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Orbit, that sucks... I have the hypothyroid, god, what a prank on the human body THAT is: I gained 50 lbs when it started, & I was a vegan at the time, no KFC for me. ;-) The bone stuff's way worse, I'm sorry for that. You ought to have little cards printed explaining it, and if anyone gives you a hard time about weight, hand them one & watch them curl up into a ball of guilt.

Layna Andersen (Layna Andersen), Monday, 26 April 2004 04:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Orbit, obv. not referring to some one with a serious (and legitimate) medical problem. What you've described sounds abs. horrible. I wish you the best, and hope for a speedy recovery.

OTOH, when people say, as did the original poster, that they want to lose 15 lbs., it's only about energy ingested vs. energy expended. Complicated diets and schedules of when you eat what and which types of things you eat are just what make the diet book writers rich. And one could eat exclusively KFC and still lose weight, you just wouldn't be able to eat very MUCH KFC. Which is why one might want to eat more vegetables and grains. More bulk, more "eating satifsfaction" but fewer calories per unit of mass. It's a simple equation.

Skottie, Monday, 26 April 2004 04:32 (twenty-two years ago)

KFC diet? You'd be unhealthy. What's losing 50kg going to do if you haven't the energy to get out of bed?

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 26 April 2004 04:39 (twenty-two years ago)

We're talking about 6 Kilograms. I'm not advocating the diet as a lifelong habit. We're talking about losing 15 lbs.

Skottie, Monday, 26 April 2004 04:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Um, yes, I know.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 26 April 2004 04:43 (twenty-two years ago)

i thought this would be a thread belonging to ally's ass

queen gynopathic, Monday, 26 April 2004 06:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Orbit, you're taking synthroid, no?

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Monday, 26 April 2004 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

levothyroxin.
However, I also have low levels of progesterone, which is a big problem, and throws everything out of whack, When they tried to give me progesterone I had an anaphlyactic reacion to it, so it is untreated, I would have to be on prednisone all the time to control the reaction and I can't do that. I'm allergic to iodine (no surprise there) and some meds give me allergic reactions.

Orbit (Orbit), Monday, 26 April 2004 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I was on prednisone for a year as a child it made my weight balloon.

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Monday, 26 April 2004 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)

omg for a year!!!! i have had to be on it for 2 weeks to a month at a time to control allergic reactions--i can't even imagine a year! and the come-down--yikes!

Orbit (Orbit), Monday, 26 April 2004 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Christianity weighs approximately 15 pounds in the average believer. Renounce the religion and the weight will go.

like the Freshman Fifteen, but even more judgmental

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Monday, 26 April 2004 16:54 (twenty-two years ago)

But Freshmen Fifteen is an addition of 15 lbs not a loss. It's not like all these high school kids more out away from their parents and then get religious.

A Nairn (moretap), Monday, 26 April 2004 21:27 (twenty-two years ago)
