... I'm even more geeked for this. APB! Stun Runner! Xenophobe! Total Carnage! NARC! Hard Drivin'! Arch Rivals! Championship Sprint! Cyberball 2072! I'm a bit disappointed that they left out Smash TV (which might've been ported elsewhere), Badlands and Hydra (which are kind of cultish and not very well-known), and the inclusions of Pit Fighter and Primal Rage make me laugh with derision, but $19.99, PEOPLE. TOTAL LATE '80S/EARLY '90S NOSTALGIA CATATONIA HERE

Hey, turns out Smash TV is part of the first Midway Arcade Treasures. And apparently it's not a very good port.

Oh yeah, the first three Mortal Kombat games are there, too.

that gamestop article is funny:

Unless you're an absolute stickler for perfection, you will probably be able to look past these flaws, but it makes you wonder exactly why more time wasn't spent ensuring that every game was optimized to play better.

uhh. what part of 'cashing in' don't you understand?

No buts. GTA:SA will rule.

Just as I suspected. Ahem.

The answer to the first is yes.

I've beaten Vice City. Oddly enough the two hardest things were the bit where you race the nerdy bank heist driver and the REMOTE CONTROL CAR RACE ARGH ARGH FUCK

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Friday, 23 April 2004 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

OTM about the race. I tried parking the tank a few blocks down the street so that I could try to kill the guy. Turns out you just need to get real good at driving.

sLeeeter kinney (Leee), Friday, 23 April 2004 22:02 (twenty-two years ago)

.. or park the (blood/dirt/???) racer around the first bend.

The model cars weren't so bad, the model airplane drove me nuts. In fact I'm pretty certain I didn't do it the last few times I played through.

San Andreas will suck. I've got better things to do than watching homies talk homie shit and act like homies for 117 hours.

six years pass...

i rediscovered Multi Theft Auto today, finally got it working after a new pc and figuring out why it wouldn't run. They made huge improvements to the interface since I last played this, it's all a lot more user friendly now.

This is one of the best multiplayer games ever, particularly the race games. The only connection it has with GTA is that it uses the San Andreas world model (and you need the original game), although many of the vehicles are modded.

I've seen other modes available such as RPG (not tried it but I shudder to think really), but the other really fun mode is death match in which vehicles have to survive against each other on crazily constructed platforms and such.
