Do you smoke after sex? For me, it seems absurd to further attack the poor resporitory system the physical demands of the endeavour.

Will McKenzie, Friday, 23 April 2004 19:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, do you? New answers!

Will McKenzie, Friday, 23 April 2004 19:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Smoking in bed? Euh!

Johnney B (Johnney B), Friday, 23 April 2004 19:56 (twenty-two years ago)

When I was a smoker, I did it. (And then had a cigarette.)

Nemo (JND), Friday, 23 April 2004 19:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Pre-coital cigarettes, c/d?
Like in the olden days, when baseball players used to have a few puff before stepping up to bat.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Friday, 23 April 2004 20:00 (twenty-two years ago)

It's something that seems to work better in theory than in practice for me.

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 23 April 2004 20:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Getting laid, that is.

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 23 April 2004 20:03 (twenty-two years ago)

stepping up to bat

Tee hee hee!

Johnney B (Johnney B), Friday, 23 April 2004 20:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Often. Sometimes I smoke during sex but that's only when we haven't re-stocked the lube.

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 23 April 2004 21:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I always want to but since I'm not a bed-smoker, the thought of getting dressed to go outside is what deters me.

andrew 'dean!' clay (deangulberry), Friday, 23 April 2004 21:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I have recently given up smoking in the flat, so having post-coital cigarettes here would involve either:

a) running outside in my dressing gown or,
b) only having sex in the back alleyway

Neither seems particularly appealing, at least till summer.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 23 April 2004 23:23 (twenty-two years ago)

D.U.D.

much too cliché

mookieproof (mookieproof), Friday, 23 April 2004 23:25 (twenty-two years ago)

better than the Post-coital cigarette is the cigarette one has in bed the second after one decides to wake up.

since moving back home that is a joy not afforded to me. (boo!)

PC cigarettes are ace, but only if one's partner joins in...

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Friday, 23 April 2004 23:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I am thoroughly chuffed by your use of "one", you saucy Brit

no shit! it beats editing folks' feeble attempts at his/her all day

mookieproof (mookieproof), Friday, 23 April 2004 23:28 (twenty-two years ago)

using "one" just makes life easier: self referring you is a disaster of the english language.

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Friday, 23 April 2004 23:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I am not sure one can be 'chuffed by' something, you crazy Yank.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 23 April 2004 23:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I smoke occasionally, but have never had the desire for a post-coital cigarrette.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 23 April 2004 23:31 (twenty-two years ago)

One one is fine. It's just when one realises one's sentence is going to then require a dozen others that one starts to have second thoughts.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 23 April 2004 23:31 (twenty-two years ago)

but one's sentences can adopt wonderful shapes when one realises that it is a cardinal sin for one to be the object of a sentence.

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Friday, 23 April 2004 23:32 (twenty-two years ago)

One wonders.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 23 April 2004 23:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Really? Fuck. I've been illicity chuffed by things for years now. Can I at least snog and shag?

mookieproof (mookieproof), Friday, 23 April 2004 23:34 (twenty-two years ago)

i.e. "illicitly"

mookieproof (mookieproof), Friday, 23 April 2004 23:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Chuffing hell, I should say so.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 23 April 2004 23:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe one can be chuffed by something. My brain's gone mush now. It would be normal to say 'chuffed at' or 'chuffed about', though.

It's the dumbest shit in the world unless you're both high as fuck, otherwise it hurts and all you want is water. And passing out with a dry smoky mouth is gross so you have to get up and brush. Unless you keep a glass of water and teeth gear at bedside, and you'd never do that, because you don't want to look like the type of guy that prepares too much like wearing condoms to the club and stuff.

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 24 April 2004 15:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I am always stupidly impressed by this.

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Saturday, 24 April 2004 15:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe because it's so old fashioned.

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Saturday, 24 April 2004 15:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I must say, I never thought of it as a way to impress.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 24 April 2004 15:20 (twenty-two years ago)

do you want to change your answer?

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 24 April 2004 15:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I never said it was dud, just that as of this week, it's not happening in my flat. Well, when you consider the post-coital angle, it's a bit longer than that.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 24 April 2004 15:25 (twenty-two years ago)

classic, mainly. dud in the morning, because i hate smoking in the morning.
the idea of nick running around back alleys in his dressing gown is impressive.

lauren (laurenp), Saturday, 24 April 2004 15:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Though not nearly so much as the image I have of him lying prone with a woman on his arm, smoking, contetedly in the alley.

Michael White (Hereward), Saturday, 24 April 2004 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

slocki so very otm.
