Any suggestions for creative uses for old unwanted CDs?

I've got stacks of old CDs which were freebies on magazines/AOL installation discs etc, and it seems a shame to just chuck them away. What creative uses could I put them to?

Hang them on fruit trees to scare away the birds.

I've debated taking up skeet shooting.

There's always the microwave.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 24 April 2004 17:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Won't that just blow up my microwave though, Ned?

No, but you will get some audiovisual entertainment out of it.

Bah! You are just a home-wrecker with a smiley nice guy disguise :)

Michael White completely OTM here in a sort of "hm, wonder if he also reads Hints from Heloise" sort of way.

Or you could also use them as impromptu beverage coasters. You could hot glue some felt (that's been cut to size) to one side of the CD and that could be the side that rests on the table.

I could paint the non-felted side, too!

I wonder if they become pliable when heated in the oven? I could mould them into little plant pots or something.

(I've already used them to scare off birds in the veg garden, Michael, and they work very well indeed)

Put them in a pie.

Put your dick through the hole and send a picture to Vale and Juno. (Sorry, that's kind of an early 90's joke.)

Get a permenate marker and write or draw some kind of weird desing that no one can make out on the back and say it's some musician's signature, and sell it on eBay

You could play them and scare off all living creatures.

Skottie, Saturday, 24 April 2004 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

stack them all on top of each other, offset slighly each time, and find out how far the stack can reach horizontally. theoretically it's limitless!

Slump Man (Slump Man), Saturday, 24 April 2004 19:28 (twenty-two years ago)

send a picture to Vale and Juno

Hahaha. So were you more of a Search and Destroy or a Re:Search fan?

todd swiss (eliti), Saturday, 24 April 2004 20:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 24 April 2004 20:06 (twenty-two years ago)

well, y'know, that lil' jon song or whatever where they keep saying skeet... well it means jizzum, i am juvenile.

todd swiss (eliti), Saturday, 24 April 2004 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)

PULL!

Better yet, with Sharpie and Ebay:

Blackout any details on the CD label that would make it identifiable. Then randomly make black Sharpie patterns on the underside. Now put it on Ebay under an IDM alias of your choice and proceed to start a fledgling record label.

one year passes...

That is beautiful, not everyone can make art out of trash. Something to think about, all of that electronic waste. Office Depot said it took old computers but it wouldn't take mine. :(
