They are arriving tomorrow to partake in the Christian Marclay exhibit on its last day.

Monday, they will witness the live essence of Kraftwerk in the evening.

Throughout their stay, they will require assistance, comradery, and recommendations for classy dining establishments.

This is the thread where we will discuss such matters.

All messages intended to disrupt the purpose of this thread will be ignored.

Now, we begin.

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 25 April 2004 00:47 (twenty-two years ago)

snow is expected in new orleans.

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Sunday, 25 April 2004 00:50 (twenty-two years ago)

So, Matos wants to do a Salumi thing. I want to try for Thai Tom in the U-district...

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 25 April 2004 01:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I will sit here and drool. Bastards.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 25 April 2004 01:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Salumi is open on weekends? Or would that be Monday?

lyra (lyra), Sunday, 25 April 2004 02:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I think (I hope) they are open Monday or Tuesday.

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 25 April 2004 02:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm almost positive they were open last Monday since a bunch of friends went that day.

We just had our building's fire alarm go off- fun fun. I now know what I'd save in a fire: I tossed my cellphone and passport in my pocket & grabbed my puppy & zipped down all the stairs. False alarm, though, thankfully- the firefighters came, found nothing, turned off the blowers and alarm system & sent us all back to bed. :-P

lyra (lyra), Sunday, 25 April 2004 05:13 (twenty-two years ago)

ron (ron), Sunday, 25 April 2004 07:47 (twenty-two years ago)

BUMP

OK them...

Ronny, you are an angel. I will call you sometime today.
I don't know when exactly C + J are arriving today (though surely early enough before the Seattle Art Museum closes for today I'd assume), but that should be coordinated somehow.

Dinner plans tonight? I dunno. Ideas anyway? Maybe we should just decide when everyone is together?

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 25 April 2004 16:07 (twenty-two years ago)

also Jen and Martin should be back by tonight after seeing Pixies last night in Spokane.

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 25 April 2004 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Donna, email me at d o n u t b i z i t c h @ h o t m a i l and give me your contact info, so I and others can contact you in light of future Seattle FAPs.

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 25 April 2004 18:01 (twenty-two years ago)

does anyone have write-access to the ilxfaps page?

gareth (gareth), Sunday, 25 April 2004 18:12 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, just got word from C + J. They will be arriving at the Seattle Art Museum to see the Marclay exhibit around 3pm. I will be there. Ronny will likely be there as well.

Anyone else who wants to join us and see it is very likely welcome to come along!

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 25 April 2004 18:34 (twenty-two years ago)

They are here. Thai Tom has been discovered and conquered! As was Moo Ice Cream!

Best line from digruntled pissy teen worker at Moo Ice Cream: "SOMEBODY hit play! This silence is driving me crazy."

*10 seconds later*

*OPENING RIFF FROM "Immigrant Song"*
*Matos, Elvis, JBR, and Myself commence head bobbing*

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Many thanks to Ronny too for all hanging out at the Marclay exhibit.
JEN, MARTIN, LYRA, DONNA, WHERE YOU BEEZ!

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Hahah, that ice cream story is grand.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:45 (twenty-two years ago)

So. Monday, let's say 1pm (this is tomorrow), I will be at the internet cafe on First Ave downtown between Madison and Spring Streets, and so will anyone who wants to come with me to Salumi for lunch. I'll get there around 1, stay till 1:15 or so, and then we will march to Third and Jackson and have the finest meatstuffs in the city or, indeed, damn near anywhere. If you're in, let me know in advance at the email below.

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Monday, 26 April 2004 02:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I was offline, baking cookies, buying a cute green shirt at Kuhlman, playing with puppy, buying two Tokyo guidebooks. I'll try to make it to the internet cafe/Salumi tomorrow, but I'm on-call at work, not sure if I can get away. :-(

Where is this Moo ice cream place, though? Down by SAM?

lyra (lyra), Monday, 26 April 2004 02:22 (twenty-two years ago)

it's not Moo, it's the Mix. in the U District, across the street from Tower on the Ave.

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Monday, 26 April 2004 02:58 (twenty-two years ago)

plus there is always Kraftwerk, ja.

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Monday, 26 April 2004 02:59 (twenty-two years ago)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 26 April 2004 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Ach mi freundenpersonas! Chi habe eine grande tear zu mi chico bebrgingen. Danke mile!

Dorien Thomas (Dorien Thomas), Monday, 26 April 2004 19:44 (twenty-two years ago)

See the hilarious thing is I was just talking to a coworker about Seattle and he's been up recently himself and was saying, "Yeah, went to the U-District and to Thai Tom" -- without me prompting or saying anything! The place really is THAT good!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 26 April 2004 19:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Alright bizitchees...

We are ALL FAPPING (or FACking.. Fancy a Coffee) at Bauhaus Coffee at 5:30pm... corner of Melrose Ave. and Pine St... you can't miss it, son. (Scott CE, you are invited too.. I hope you didn't feel uninvited..)

This is the pre Kraftwerk recaffination coronation. (The Paramount Theatre is just blocks down the coffeehouse)

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 26 April 2004 21:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Ronny Lyra Donna Jen Martin Matos and anyone else I forgot.. come on dawgs!

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 26 April 2004 21:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll probably be at Bauhaus later--around 7 or so. My friend C is meeting me there at 7:30 so that should be fine. (Work . . . sigh.)

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Monday, 26 April 2004 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

(Just in case I have to sell a ticket in front of the venue)

http://www.quartzcity.net/~chris/ilx/kraftwerk_poster_small.jpg

(thank you Meister Telekom for hosting this)

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 26 April 2004 21:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Drop the decimal and make some serious cash, I say.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 26 April 2004 21:57 (twenty-two years ago)

haha "serious cash." the show isn't even close to sold out.

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Monday, 26 April 2004 22:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Thankfully, looks like I won't need to use this sign, but I'm bringing it anyway. (I mean, come one, the MARK S ROBOT VS. DINASORE FITE WITH LIPSTICK AND RED TIES!!!)

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 26 April 2004 23:05 (twenty-two years ago)

get to bauhaus already, ya bitch.

martin m. (mushrush), Monday, 26 April 2004 23:07 (twenty-two years ago)

the show isn't even close to sold out.

This saddens me!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 26 April 2004 23:16 (twenty-two years ago)

many xposts, DB, thanks, I didn't feel uninvited, I just couldn't make it. Well, actually I was able to break away and make it to the show at about 8:30, which was pretty great, especially the Troncore (not a new genre, for those who weren't there, but an encore performed in Tron outfits).

Scott CE (Scott CE), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 05:39 (twenty-two years ago)

just got back from the show...

Dies Ist Die WOW!

SF, get the fuck ready for some 'werk!

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 06:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Most of my comments are on the ILM "Kraftwerk American Dates" thread, but I have to reiterate... the cultural defining moment of the show last night was everyone holding up lit cell phones instead of lighters to cheer up, stomp, scream, and clap on the second encore of Kraftwerk's set.

And while the show may have not been sold out, I have to disagree about the show "not being close to selling out". It looked pretty close to me.

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

OMG the cell phones RULED

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, it was very full--I can't imagine there were a whole lot of tickets unsold. I got mine at about 8:30, and the guy at the box office said there were very few tickets left.

Scott CE (Scott CE), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.filmbuffonline.com/dieter1.jpg

This is now part of the thread where we post photographs of mouth watering edible exhibitions of art.

Posting will begin NOW!

THAI TOM:

The cooking action. Captivating. His energy and syncopation had a beat that I could danz to. I give him a 14 out of 10.

http://www.kuci.org/~brianm/ile/cjseattle/thaitom_cookaction_1_small.jpg
http://www.kuci.org/~brianm/ile/cjseattle/thaitom_cookaction_2_small.jpg

Chris and Jody's spicy salad with thai ice coffee in background: The refreshing is being stilted only to put to spotlight on the star of spices. Much like the struggle of life. Mildly disturbing and delicious.

http://www.kuci.org/~brianm/ile/cjseattle/thaitom_foodtip_small.jpg

Matos's cashew chicken, along with take out box, and money for bill: I found this piece poignant and moving. The produkts and the expenses are united as one. Much like nature.

http://www.kuci.org/~brianm/ile/cjseattle/thaitom_salad_small.jpg

Donut Bitch's yellow curry and fried tofu in a flash photo: a very selective kaleidoscope that speaks in the language that only those beneath the tongue can comprehend. Drooling is hard to suppress.

http://www.kuci.org/~brianm/ile/cjseattle/thaitom_yellow_flash_small.jpg

SALUMI:

The following exhibitions will speak for themselves. However, I will now show you the setting where the dining of the following pieces took place, nearby the source of the food. Inside an urban oasis containing quaint seating, a small garden, and a waterfall. Settings that exist within our soul which we deny.

http://www.kuci.org/~brianm/ile/cjseattle/garden_fountain_small.jpg

Jody's salami and cheese plate:

http://www.kuci.org/~brianm/ile/cjseattle/salumi_salami_small.jpg

Chris's fennel sausage sandwich:

http://www.kuci.org/~brianm/ile/cjseattle/salumi_fennel_small.jpg

Donut Bitch's roasted pepper and grilled romaine lettuce sandwich with gorgonzola cheese:

http://www.kuci.org/~brianm/ile/cjseattle/salumi_veg_small.jpg

Matos's oxtail sandwich:

http://www.kuci.org/~brianm/ile/cjseattle/salumi_oxtail_small.jpg

I will now drool all over myself in a attempt to lubricate my body and prevent the malevolent outer spirits from molesting me.

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 21:57 (twenty-two years ago)

FUCK YOU FOR POSTING ALL THOSE BEAUTIFUL FOOD PHOTOS.

(Meant with love.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 21:58 (twenty-two years ago)

We love you back Ned

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 02:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Great, I get home late from work, starving, and you subject me to photos of yummy Salumi!! Argh! Now I must go scrounge up some cereal or mac & cheese from my kitchen. :-(

lyra (lyra), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 02:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm sad you weren't able to join us... :( granted, sunday was the only day you could probably be free.

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 03:06 (twenty-two years ago)

And Sunday I mostly sneezed & felt miserable from allergies. :-(
I am out of spaghetti sauce, but for some reason I have canned diced tomatos & some heavy cream, so I'm improvising a creamy tomato sauce. This may or may not be edible.

lyra (lyra), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 03:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Again I say...

B*U*R*P!

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 19:55 (twenty-two years ago)

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 29 April 2004 02:52 (twenty-two years ago)

(reads thread)

!!!!!

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Thursday, 29 April 2004 03:41 (twenty-two years ago)

1) donna, jen, martin, ron, and especially db and matos: xxxxxxxxxxxxxooooooooooo and thanks for everything.

2) the middle-aged germans were very entertaining. the theater was full of goths.

3) the marclay exhibit was as awesome as everyone said. i liked seeing alisha's long-lost comeback album as part of the connective tissue in one of marclay's cover-connection collages.

4) i bought records, but not that many. especially looking forward to hearing the george baker selection lp (99 cents) and the mid-'80s coyote records comp (also 99 cents).

5) re the fanbloodytastic salumi meat & cheese plate: half of it was eaten there in the park, and the other half we had later that night with wine and rustic bread on the ratty bedspread of a portland hooker motel. best vacation ever.
