Willdabeast, Monday, 26 April 2004 10:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Cup of sugar?

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 26 April 2004 10:24 (twenty-two years ago)

i am quite tempted to see this flick.

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Monday, 26 April 2004 10:29 (twenty-two years ago)

There is an attractive woman who lives next door. She comes and goes very mysteriously. I'm obsessed.

Debito (Debito), Monday, 26 April 2004 10:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I have now been to see this movie (in a ludicrous double bill of Our House and it) and it seems to me the best mainstream american comedy for ages. it's verily as good as the 80's high school comedies, and is bawdy without being crude. I was v. impressed.

what a perverse movie

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 27 August 2004 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

What a terrible movie.

I wanted to like it, but I just couldn't.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, it was ok.

n.a. (Nick A.), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't want to like it, but I just did.

Slim Pickens (Slim Pickens), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I want to like it.

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:11 (twenty-one years ago)

i didn't want to lick it.

g--ff (gcannon), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:13 (twenty-one years ago)

the girl next door to me was having loud sex last night at 3am. She always keeps her windows open but of course I didn't peek because I'm not a perv and she's Russian mob and I might get shot.

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:15 (twenty-one years ago)

You and your sex anecdotes.

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:16 (twenty-one years ago)

too bad they never involve me directly

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:20 (twenty-one years ago)

You should hook her up with your roommate.

Do all comedies come out in unrated/"mo' titties!" versions now? Is there a planned DVD release of Annie Hall with graphic Allen-Keaton sex scenes?

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:22 (twenty-one years ago)

crosses fingers, inhales

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:28 (twenty-one years ago)

For some reason, I read that as "Mo titties", ie added shots of Mo Rocca's titties.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:29 (twenty-one years ago)

An odd movie - kind of sprawling with wild mood swings. All of the ideas contradicted themselves. To porn starL: "You're better than this" and then 'let's use your pornstar friends to for a moral purpose' and then people giving a standing ovation for a speech on morality that basically says 'find a girl and do whatever it takes to help her moral or not' and then she asks "Why do you believe in me so much" and his answer somehow isn't "because you're Elisha Cuthbert, i.e. the girl from Old School". Good performances from Cuthbert and the drug dealer from Go. As it stands, it's a missed opportunity. I think there's a good movie in there somewhere and I suspect it could have been edited into something excellent.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 22:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I still want to see it, but will my wife want to?

Is this the UNRATED version?

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 22:20 (twenty-one years ago)

What about Old School, is that any good? Eurotrip was unforgivable.

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 22:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Old School is very funny, if not actually a tight story/"good" movie. However, I enjoy watching Will Ferrell do just about anything.

As for The Girl Next Door Yeah, I just rented the "unrated" version. The ending doesn't make you feel as good as most high school movies do. I suspect it's because there is actually real change at the end (as opposed to the reestablishment of the status quo as something more acceptable - sorry Jameson stuff). Way too many plot twists and deus ex machinas. There's a real problem in that the filmmakers didn't settle on a mood and so the movie feels disjointed from scene to scene. The "unrated" version is still pretty tame. Elisha Cuthbert is a goddess - unbelievable. There's a sweetness and innocence to her and the main character's friend, but there's an odd meanness (and indifference) to the whole thing too.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 22:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Elisha Cuthbert is a goddess - unbelievable.

great.

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 22:30 (twenty-one years ago)

theres like 6 movies in here.. all of them shitty.

I just couldnt get over how hackneyed it was. Like the smokin hot ex porno teen falls in love with geek next door because...? because he saw her naked? thats about it. and then nerd next door goes into total psycho mode, follows her around and basically fucks her shit up for awhile but eventually she falls back into line and things work out. huh?

still bevens (bscrubbins), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 22:34 (twenty-one years ago)

you ruined it!

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 22:35 (twenty-one years ago)

she really is a goddess in it. and i don't even like blondes!

JaXoN (JasonD), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 23:56 (twenty-one years ago)

timothy olyphant (from go) is indeed really good in this movie, he has a real natural easy charm

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 00:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't if I'm weird in having totally loved Eurotrip (only saw the unrated version), not caring that much for Old School, and thinking this was OK. (Well, I hated School of Rock so I know I'm weird by this board's standards.) It doesn't really make sense for the reasons that Spencer and still give but I still thought it had enough charm to make it watchable. I don't know how the 'rated' (?) version could have been that much tamer than this. Three stars.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 00:24 (twenty-one years ago)

So fucking earnest it killed me. I was hoping for madcap and zany antics.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 01:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Old School was not funny at all and made me quite angry.

Cathy (Cathy), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 09:25 (twenty-one years ago)

You're my boy, Blue!
