Mahmud Uthman, a Council member, is quoted by al-Jazeera as saying: "I think there are issues more important to concentrate on now than the changing of the flag."

That's my favorite comment on the new flag, so far.

I think eliminating any green, with its strong association with Islam, is probably not going to bother a lot of Iraqis. In fact, I think it would be better to keep the old colors and just re-organize them (with or without a Kurd stripe).

Its weird that the blue in the crescent is a couple shades lighter than the stripes. Maybe its that whole israel thing.

I really want to see the flags that didnt make the cut in this 'competition.' Probably has some shit like ahmed chalabi's smiling face on a field of pink or a photo of bush and sharon shaking hands.

I read that they shifted the colors in the flag but i havent seen any pictures yet. i think they made the lines at the bottom the same color as the crescent to avoid the israel comparisons.
