By 2011, California will ban the sale of foie gras made 'inhumanely'. Can it be made humanely? How will this affect your diet? What will be banned next?

Seagull foie gras---who's in with me
― droit au butt (Euler), Tuesday, 16 September 2014 07:02 (eleven years ago)
herring gulls are magnificent & terrible creatures. i love them but eating one seems like fair play given their violent predilections
mind you, foie gras? no worse than goose foie gras but this is still probably quite bad. i don't know enough about the process but there's something aesthetically off about it. obviously this is some callow know-nothing shit from me here and the french are savages

they're trying to reassure us here. the only word i had to look up is 'gavage' - so these gulls apparently eat the stuff down of their own volition? hmm

I found that link in this article about eating seagulls because there are so many of them around here and I thought that surely if they were edible, the French would be eating them; et voilà.
