Did any British prime ministers see active military service in World War II

Not the most riveting question, I know, but with all this malarkey stateside at the moment, and how they love a bit of the military leader, you never seem to hear of the army exploits British PMs. Did any fight The Bosch/Hun/Jerries? I'd have guessed from time frame you'd be looking at "Aaaaaaah Mr Heath" and "Aaaaaaah Mr Wilson", or maybe Callaghan. Who was the last British PM to have been military anyway? Have we had none sense the end of conscription?

Do tell.

Thatcher is the only one of that generation and she was of course a woman. I'll go check on Jim callaghan, though.

Jim callaghan did, but not sure as what. Churchill was in the Boer war as a cavalry officer and Attlee was at Gallipoli and ended the first world war a major, he traded quite heavily on it in elections during the appeasement years.

Lloyd George had a bit part in Dad's Army.

Ted Heath was in the Royal Artillery during WW2

OK

Heath. Callaghan WW2 Wilson in civil service Douglas-Home Spinal Injury

Attlee, Eden, Macmillan WW1

Churchill Sandhurst, India Sudan

etc.

It was never really an issue, because even if you weren't fighting the entire nation was in WW2.

Margaret Thatcher was a battleship. That's what I hear, anyway.
