It ain't bad. Hedges on the whole suicide-or-overdose thing, but there are some lovely shots of his childhood home and some good interviews with Joe Boyd and other studio folks.

There was a Nick Drake documentary on TV a while ago and the only thing I remember about it is how much I disliked his friends that were interviewed. To be fair I got the same feeling reading his biography. As there isn't really anything new to say and there is no live footage or anything I can't say I will bother looking out for this. I will just stick with listening to his music.

I made the pilgrimage to his gravestone.

I am rather sad.

Nick Drake's biography is hilarious. He wrote great songs but was the shyest man in history. It's full of anecdotes like "yeah, Nick came round my house and sat silently in the corner for 14 hours. Then he went home. He was a good friend."

from what i can tell this film is tailored to appeal to the sad. lots of fluttery shots of trees and such, set to appropriate bits of drake's music. i'll probably go and take half a xanax, because that sounds nice.

My dad was present at the sessions for John Martyn's debut LP. I asked him if he remembered a quiet six foot plus lad, he said he didn't remember. So, he probably was there.

Beautiful songs, strange man, huge fingers. It's amazing how often his music is used in films.

I admit I thought this had something to do with the circumcision thread.
