I thought this was gonna be a Rumpy Pumpkin thread. Hold on, she'll be along in a minute.....

smee (smee), Friday, 30 April 2004 08:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not from Ayrshite (that was a typo but i'm gonna leave it in....) but it is my spiritual home. incidentally a small taking sides could be introduced: Ayr or Kilmarnock...

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Friday, 30 April 2004 08:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I dunno that you'd get much response....

smee (smee), Friday, 30 April 2004 08:42 (twenty-two years ago)

surely EVERYONE has an opinion on that....

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Friday, 30 April 2004 08:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I stayed in Largs for a bit. It was quite pretty and I got good fish & chips there. Also, Vikingar!

robster (robster), Friday, 30 April 2004 08:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I liked going to play on the puggies in largs.

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Friday, 30 April 2004 08:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Largs sux. Although good chips and nice sweeties....

smee (smee), Friday, 30 April 2004 08:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Well I was hatched & despatched from a small town not far from Largs (or Largs-Vegas as we call it) and Ayrshire mainly sucks the boab, Argyle on the other hand rocks a big fat one.

mzui, Friday, 30 April 2004 10:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to live in Ayr until I was 6!

Davel (Davel), Friday, 30 April 2004 10:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Classic. It's no Lanarkshire, though.

Cathy (Cathy), Friday, 30 April 2004 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

On the subject of Lanarkshire...since when was Glasgow in Lanarkshire? I keep getting junk mail with Glasgow, Lanarkshire on the address label - what mentalist put that in the junk mail database? Hmmmm?!!!

smee (smee), Friday, 30 April 2004 11:19 (twenty-two years ago)

You mean, Glasgow isn't in Lanarkshire?

Cathy (Cathy), Friday, 30 April 2004 14:13 (twenty-two years ago)

glasgow is in lanarkshire and it is in strathclyde and it is in glasgow.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 30 April 2004 15:29 (twenty-two years ago)

ayr is miles better than kilmarnock.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 30 April 2004 15:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Glasgow is not in fucking lanarkshire! Glasgow is a free floating entity, a city state that is rudely colonised by Scotland/Britain...

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Friday, 30 April 2004 17:02 (twenty-two years ago)

i can remember playing 'track & field' in largs until my fingers nearly fell off.

zappi (joni), Friday, 30 April 2004 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you Stevie Jackson?

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 30 April 2004 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

is stevie jackson still commonly called Stevie 'Reverb' Jackson, or is it only me that does that?

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Friday, 30 April 2004 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

stevie reverb

RJG (RJG), Friday, 30 April 2004 17:51 (twenty-two years ago)

The electric brae!!!!~~~

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 30 April 2004 17:51 (twenty-two years ago)

oh the electric brae is mega. and culzean castle's a joy also...

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Friday, 30 April 2004 17:52 (twenty-two years ago)

(if you turn off the engine and wait a few seconds you can hear the wail of a fender telecaster, coming from somewhere near Erskine)

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 30 April 2004 17:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I have been to Ayr. It was cloudy.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 30 April 2004 17:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a slight escapist fantasy of moving to ayr, living with my gran, and walking moodily by the sea...

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Friday, 30 April 2004 17:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I say: give it a go.

I'm from ayrshire.

the electric brae yes!!!

culzean castle yes!!!

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Vikingar itself is exceptionally dull - but they do have a Viking festival which is rather cool. Electric Brae is a bit shit, but I'm not entirely sure what I expected. I wuv Culzean Castle and spent lots of Sundays there last year walking round the gardens and that, stopping off at Cardwell Bay on the way home. Hmmmm. A plan for this afternoon is forming....

Also, Ayrshire plays host to all the mentalist hard bastards in the Scottish Junior League therefore is classic.

the buffs, ailsa.

also robert burns.

I imagine the Daily Record added this detail to explain the incongruity of this happening in Livingston:
