My grade-school softball team used to go to DQ after every friggin game. My cholesterol level must have been off the charts those years.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Friday, 30 April 2004 23:05 (twenty-two years ago)

DQ is awesome.

"War comes to the land of Dairy Queen" gave me one of my longest sustained MST3k-caused bouts of laughter ever.

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Friday, 30 April 2004 23:22 (twenty-two years ago)

a mr. misty is like a slurpee or a slushie, but better. lighter, crisper, not quite as sweet. if you can get one of those into some dry ice and over to me, it would be much appreciated.

lauren (laurenp), Saturday, 1 May 2004 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

i'll take one too! (even though i've never heard of them before today)

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 1 May 2004 00:56 (twenty-two years ago)

(and there's a dq a couple of blocks away from my house)

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 1 May 2004 00:56 (twenty-two years ago)

(which is apparently the most profitable one in canada, or so i hear!)

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 1 May 2004 00:57 (twenty-two years ago)

(i'm not ENTIRELY responsible for that)

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 1 May 2004 00:57 (twenty-two years ago)

i wonder if they still exist... perhaps not gaudily overloaded with enough ingredients in this age of sugar excess.

xpost

then go get one!

Taking Sides: Dairy Queen vs. Burger King?

I had a cherry Mr. Misty just a few weeks ago! It was a splendid experience.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Saturday, 1 May 2004 01:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I think we have Mr. Mistys at the local DQs. Will have to double-check sometime next week, for sure.

DQ is fantastic. I love the chicken strip basket and will order that quite a lot if I'm going in there for lunch. If I'm going in there for ice cream, my favorite thing to order is the banana split, but with all strawberry topping, or if I'm not feeling as gluttonous, a strawberry sundae. If I'm lucky, I'm at a DQ that's generous with their toppings and will get loads of yummy strawberry topping.

Haven't been to a DQ in awhile, though. Maybe a month or two. Must rectify that ASAP.

(BTW, we get special DQ commercials here in TX -- "That's what I like about Texas", all that.)

my local dairy queen in high school hired underage kids and paid them $2 an hour under the table.

Haha -- they loved referencing that commercial, didn't they.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 1 May 2004 01:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I haven't seen a DQ in years. My memories:

Dennis The Menace was their spokesperson.
I got a brain freeze every time I had a Mr. Misty.
I used to think Brazier (their grill department) meant totally something else.

what's that salad dressing ad with the vegetable-based landscape that's on now? kraft? anyway when the RIVER OF WARM-LOOKING RANCH DRESSING floods thru in slow motion, it's seriously disgusting
