I just got paid, I live in a large, vibrant city, and I don't have to go to work tomorrow. What should I do tonight? Feel free to discuss your own Friday night plans as well.

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

sit at home and cry into your pillow

Are you Ice Cube? Is your best friend Chris Tucker pressuring you to get HIGH?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I have done the sociable thing AND the stay at home thing. And now I'm doing the sociable thing again, via ILX, the best of both worlds. Do the same, NA, you can't knock it.

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I am staying in, tonight.

it is a friend's birthday, tomorrow, and I should save really doing nothing (workwise) for then and just pretty much do nothing (workwise) tonight.

where do you live, again, NA? chicago?

RJG (RJG), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Yup. Sarah isn't helping me think of any ideas, so I've threatened to make her go ride dune buggies with me.

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Corporate softball in central park!!!

manyDamons, Friday, 30 April 2004 19:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I may be going to see 2 Many DJs and James Murphy.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe lazer tag. Do they still have lazer tag anywhere?

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm staying in, in theory to study, cos I've done no work today, but I'm still recovering from last night. and now i'm on ile. whoops

jellybean (jellybean), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Well it's really crappy outside here so realistically we'll end up checking out a movie and drinking gin and tonics, but what should we do?

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:29 (twenty-two years ago)

i think they have some sort of laser tag near Navy Pier. I know for sure there's one in the burbs. Lombard i think.

oops (Oops), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Do they still have lazer tag anywhere?

You betcha, bucko.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I kinda want to go see Mean Girls, but that seems lame for a Friday night. I want to go out and fuck shit up, Chicago-style.

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I was on the southside, the other week, with some colleagues and they were talking about laser tag, here, and how one had closed down, just recently, because a guy was playing it in all the dark and dry ice and mirror and, yeah, he ran, full pelt, into a river and he kinda died, so they closed down. is that unbelievable or unbelievably sad or? it did close down, though.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I was going to go home and take a nap, but I remembered I had to go practice rocking with my rock n' roll band. So I think I'll go to the comic book store, get some coffee, rock out, then go watch some Kids in the Hall and go to sleep.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:33 (twenty-two years ago)

an indoor river?

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

wow, my story is incredible.

he ran, full pelt, into a mirror.

crosspost

thanks, lauren.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

OMG, I just remembered that there's a laser tag place by my apartment and I've never been.

Do they still have that Battletech place across from the laser tag at North Pier? 'Cause that place was off the hook, and if it's still there you should totally go.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

i wanna play pool but there's no one to play pool with.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:36 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha I like the story with the river

There's a laser tag place here in teh Lexington KY. I haven't been for awhile though, for I'm not really particularly interested in becoming some 13 year old boys killing-fantasy fodder once again.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:37 (twenty-two years ago)

wait do they still even have North Pier anymore?

oops (Oops), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:37 (twenty-two years ago)

once again??

oops (Oops), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Playing pool.

dean!dean!dean (deangulberry), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I vote for checking out a movie and drinking gin and tonics

mookieproof (mookieproof), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Got the boy for tonight. We're gonna make pizzas and build something with lego(s), then he's gonna take a bubble bath, then we're gonna read some Seuss. When he goes to sleep I'm gonna try to finish recording The Most Retarded Hip-Hop Song I've Ever Written without waking him up.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Sounds like a good night.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not really going to do laser tag, I've only done it once and sucked horribly at it. What's the Battletech place and why would my girlfriend want to go there?

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh. She wouldn't really, unless you think she might enjoy sitting in an enclosed cockpit that simulates being in a giant mech, trying to blow you up.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Does it vibrate? (I'm so, so sorry, Sarah.)

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

i am going to drink vodka tonics and do laundry.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:57 (twenty-two years ago)

in my experience that leads to poorly done laundry :)

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Friday, 30 April 2004 19:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Consume beer. WATCH HOCKEY. Consume more beer.

Game 4 tonight: Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Philadelphia Flyers. Flyers lead series 2-1.

And I'm managing to do this in England.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:01 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, the beer part is easy, but the hockey-watching - that's a bit trickier...

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:01 (twenty-two years ago)

If I play my cards right, I will be getting good and drunk because it has been one of those weeks.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:02 (twenty-two years ago)

i've been out too much this week. i'm going to stay home and drink a bunch of stone's original ginger wine and watch a french movie and possibly make alarming late-night phone calls.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:03 (twenty-two years ago)

possibly make alarming late-night phone calls.

Yes, and yet nooooooooooooo

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I think if we do end up staying up and drinking gin and tonics, I need to listen to that song that goes "I LIKE TO MOVE IT MOVE IT, I LIKE TO MOVE IT MOVE IT, I LIVE TO MOVE IT MOVE IT, I LIKE TO...MOVE IT!" How about you?

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:06 (twenty-two years ago)

i lost my virginity to that song.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, I'm feeling a bit better than I have been lately -- but now I'm booked the next two nights, working the door at this audio presentation that the arts group I work with has put together. It's actually kind of interesting -- it's a 30-minute piece composed entirely of interviews taken along the Red Line, plus lots of weird ambient train noises. So if you feel like coming all the way up to Andersonville and spending $10, that's where I'll be.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Belle & Sebastian at the Warfield. Gin therapy.

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:17 (twenty-two years ago)

OMG I MIGHT BE GOING ON A DATE TO THAT SHOW TOO MICHAEL!!! I had no idea they were in town. YAY!

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:24 (twenty-two years ago)

so, no, i probably won't be getting drunk.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Jaymc: hmmm, possibly, but I'm feeling a little too uppity for that. On the other hand, Sarah will probably be sleepy. So maybe...

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, only if you feel like it, of course. I hate feeling like I'm promoting it or something.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:27 (twenty-two years ago)

gygax!, one does not preclude the other.

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:35 (twenty-two years ago)

DBX

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Friday, 30 April 2004 21:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Daniel Bell?

oops (Oops), Friday, 30 April 2004 21:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Dithyrambs by Xenophon?

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 30 April 2004 21:46 (twenty-two years ago)
