London: Fullers Pubs

i notice there are very few fullers pubs in north london, one on pitfield st, hoxton, and one on ballards lane, finchley are the only with an N postcode (can this be right?). of course, the euston flyer is one also, but is surely not a good pub?

which fullers pubs are worth going to? and/or, tell me interesting things about fullers pubs in london (they have to be specifically fullers, there is a reason for this...)

is the calthorpe not an N postcode? i suppose it's probably just an EC.

the calthorpe is GREAT as the felicity FAP proved. plenty of locals but not intimidating, decent food, sky but doesn't overwhelm the room.

also ORDINARY is one of the best supping beers going.

also i am clearly a twat, as i am confusing my fullers pubs with my youngs pubs.

there's a big bastard towny one in Ealing Broadway. Two floors, heaving with Shermans on a Saturday night. Don't try it.

if NW1 counts.. the euston flyer on euston road is alright.

oh sorry i missed the euston flyer bit at your first post :(

Not North London, but the Sun and Thirteen Cantons, where we started off the last Mary FAP, is a Fullers pub I'm pretty sure.

Its also shit.

i'm not sure what qualifies as "a good pub" on ILE. all Fullers pubs are grebt in that they serve Fullers beer on draught. but a lot of them specialise in dining and Sky Sports these days, which may be a minus for you, i dunno

zebedee (zebedee), Thursday, 13 May 2004 13:04 (twenty-two years ago)

not necessarily. i have a friend who has to visit every single fullers pub in london over the next 4 weeks as part of her job, and i was interested in any particular quirks or anything interesting specifically about any of them

gareth (gareth), Thursday, 13 May 2004 13:05 (twenty-two years ago)

i wish my job involves going to pubs.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 13 May 2004 13:06 (twenty-two years ago)

ewww sun and 13 cantons is indeed rubbish - no, worse than that - utter shite

I'm having real trouble thinking of fullers pubs for some reason.

chris (chris), Thursday, 13 May 2004 13:06 (twenty-two years ago)

okay, well the "Old Bank of England" in Fleet Street near the Courts of Justice used to be... have a guess. It's palatial.

(x-post to gareth)

The Beehive in Kennington is great; good (not gastro) food, strange mix of Sun-reading and Guardian-reading locals, bow-tied bar staff, hundreds of varieties of booze.

ledge (ledge), Thursday, 13 May 2004 13:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Theres a lot of Ale and Pie Fullers pubs in the city.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 13 May 2004 13:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Fullers' pubs generally << Young's pubs. The reasons for this are unclear. I don't think I've even been to one in North London unless The Artillery counts.

Ricardo (RickyT), Thursday, 13 May 2004 13:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Is the Artillery a fullers? I like that one, it had some really good beers the last time I was there

chris (chris), Thursday, 13 May 2004 13:16 (twenty-two years ago)

NB sun and 13 being extensively refurbed (as in gutting and starting again) when i walked past the other week, not even sure it is to continue as a pub...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 13 May 2004 13:21 (twenty-two years ago)

is there not a list at Http://www.fullers.co.uk? I can't check myself, as Alcohol & Tobacco is one of the categories blocked by my work filter - which also means I can't check fancyapint.com, annoyingly.

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 13 May 2004 13:21 (twenty-two years ago)

there is a list, yes, but the list doenst give me opinions of various people about them

gareth (gareth), Thursday, 13 May 2004 13:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Yep. Nice old place, used to drink in there quite a bit when Ben The Goth was working nearby.

Ricardo (RickyT), Thursday, 13 May 2004 13:23 (twenty-two years ago)

egads, the black horse in Greenford is awful, very scary

chris (chris), Thursday, 13 May 2004 13:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmm, scratch the Beehive. fancyapint.com lied to me!
