Such as meetings with ex's, family dinners etc. It feels kind of dud right now. Buy boy did seem like a good idea last night.

Hella fucking classic, though the recoil can be a nasty dud.

Classic. It's the only way to deal with Awkward situations, apart from hiding

jellybean (jellybean), Sunday, 16 May 2004 15:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Totally classic in my experience. A bottle of Jack is far cheaper than therapy.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Sunday, 16 May 2004 15:26 (twenty-two years ago)

But boy (meant as an exclamation). thanks. (Very hungover). Ok it could have been worse last night. But unfortantely it wasn't one of those jovial drunks I was having. It was more of a each-drink-is-pushing-me-deeper-into-despair-I-can't-believe-I-used-to-date-this-person-what-the-hell-happened-to-her personlity-kind-of-drunks.

drunkenness is often overrated anyway. apart, of course, from those occasions when the subsequent harm caused by drunkenness is way underrated.

Is this a thread about FAPs?

There's ANOTHER way to deal with awkward situations?

Nah, you guys are just playin' wit me.

Johnney B, Sunday, 16 May 2004 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Dud.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 16 May 2004 18:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Dud.

Je4nne Ć’ury (Jeanne Fury), Sunday, 16 May 2004 18:47 (twenty-two years ago)

DUD DUD DUD MOTHERFUCKING DUD! Seriously, any situation will be rendered 20x more awkward when you are unable to speak without slurring your words and/or coming onto your ex's mother. Especially if you are likely to be in that situation again in the future.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 16 May 2004 19:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok, I guess I answered more for "getting lightly sauced" than "getting off your tree."

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Sunday, 16 May 2004 19:09 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, like job interviews

A Nairn (moretap), Sunday, 16 May 2004 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Coming on to your ex's mother isn't as bad as cuming on your ex's mother, n'est-ce pas?

Mike Guy (Miss Lonelyhearts), Sunday, 16 May 2004 20:08 (twenty-two years ago)

this thread question: not just a good idea, but a way of life.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 16 May 2004 20:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Dud: increases tenfold the likelihood of explosive confrontation. Though I will say that Thanksgiving with the family has been a lot tamer since I began smoking the turkey outside. "Looks like it's time to go check on the bird." We should all constantly have brief "duties" in our back pockets to ease our escapes....

Evanston Wade (EWW), Sunday, 16 May 2004 20:46 (twenty-two years ago)

If I'm nervous, I always drink at least twice as fast (and hence, twice as much) as I otherwise might. Sometimes it works, sometimes no.

Huck, Sunday, 16 May 2004 21:46 (twenty-two years ago)

classic: i'm a happy drunk.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 16 May 2004 22:04 (twenty-two years ago)

sloppy drunk: dud (though humorous)
mildly tipsy: classic

in my experience, smoking herb before family dinners = classic, but not before meeting with ex's. ex's should never be seen again anyway; how awful.

Ian Johnson (orion), Sunday, 16 May 2004 22:43 (twenty-two years ago)

you know, i've had both good and bad experiences doing this. aim for a tipsy/ relaxed state, rather than an unhinged one, and things should be ok.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Sunday, 16 May 2004 22:45 (twenty-two years ago)

what about getting drunk and then getting into awkward situations and then waking up next to your ex-girlfriend who is still in love with you?

like what happened to me last night. i am screwed.

dog latin (dog latin), Sunday, 16 May 2004 22:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Well obv. Uh dud, tho, I suppose.

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Monday, 17 May 2004 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Might be classic if yr the wronged party, I mean.

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Monday, 17 May 2004 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

The danger as I see it (and discovered it, personally), is that almost every situation starts seeming like a potentially awkward situation--might as well have a few or six to take the edge off, just in case. And then you're deep in Dudland, whether you know it or not.

Lee G (Lee G), Monday, 17 May 2004 14:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Dud. Alcohol tends to amplify my naturally awkward and self-conscious tendencies.

mike a, Monday, 17 May 2004 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Ian OTM with everything
