Watching Spiders Die In Your Own Hastily-Constructed Theatre of Cruelty: Classic or Dud?

i hate those 8 legged fuckers. the enjoyment i'm getting from the living-room spider in my bleach / upside-down-glass torture chamber is *slightly* makes up for the fact there's still one loose somewhere in my bedroom so i'll have to sleep on the sofa tonight.

so classic obviously.

bring it on, animal lovers.

don (don), Sunday, 16 May 2004 23:25 (twenty-two years ago)

If you've seen two, I suspect that means there are many more hidden around your home/apt.. Probably even near your sofa.

Fucking dud, spiders eat the other bugs!

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Sunday, 16 May 2004 23:26 (twenty-two years ago)

b-b-b-but spiders are great!! they get rid of flies and the other truly annoying insects. i always check for spiders before i take a shower. i even have one living in the lamp above my bed!! (he gets rid of mosquitos)

x-post

milo - i've had to deal with loads in the last week.. and i'm trying not to think of the sofa spiders.

the one in my bedroom was in my fucking bed as well. i'd be much better at getting rid of them if i wasn't so scared of the little bastards. i tried to squish it by throwing a blondie CD at it but it bounced off my bed and shattered.

[update]

living room spider has succumbed to the bleach!

don 1, spiders 1 (for blondie CD)

don (don), Sunday, 16 May 2004 23:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Blondie's worthless since Debbie Harry got sober.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Sunday, 16 May 2004 23:31 (twenty-two years ago)

of course my spiders are the endearing and comically ungainly daddy longlegs. i don't know what i'd do if my home were overrun with dime-sized tarantulas.

vahid (vahid), Sunday, 16 May 2004 23:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd pretend to be Jeff Daniels.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Sunday, 16 May 2004 23:36 (twenty-two years ago)

yes.. these are big fuck-off gangster spiders. daddy long-legs are ok.

I once did some landscaping work for this lady who was all "don't hurt any critters." The rock walls in her terraced gardens were absolutely crawling with black widow spiders because she would always move them to a "safe place" instead of just squishing them on the spot.

Was she eating steak tartare at the time?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 16 May 2004 23:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm a big fan of spiders.

mr teeny is not, and will chant latin epithets as he squashes them and leaves their bodies "for the others to see."

teeny (teeny), Sunday, 16 May 2004 23:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Watching the video for "Lullaby" probably explains it.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Monday, 17 May 2004 00:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought nobody went to the theater.

Leeefuse 73 (Leee), Monday, 17 May 2004 00:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I like to leave spideys be if they're in a corner mindin' their own biz, as they eat bugs and I'm not squicky about spiders. We dont tend to have too many mega-deadly ones this far south tho (eg funnelwebs) and I live in a flat and have no garden, so less to worry about I guess.

Also, my cat eats flies, so I dont *have* to keep a spidey handy - I try not to squish them tho, I'll put them out.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 17 May 2004 00:35 (twenty-two years ago)

(Its also great entertainment watching my cat trying to catch flies. She leaps about waving her paws in the air like a tard)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 17 May 2004 00:35 (twenty-two years ago)

spiders shmiders; I'm all right with them so long as I don't have to worry about ARGH MILLIPEDES.

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Monday, 17 May 2004 00:43 (twenty-two years ago)

'argh millipedes' would be such an awesome band name

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 17 May 2004 00:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I enthusiastically concur.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 17 May 2004 00:48 (twenty-two years ago)

it's the earwigs that bother me the most.
it takes well over a day for one to dyssolve in a tub of bleach.

dyson (dyson), Monday, 17 May 2004 02:37 (twenty-two years ago)

One day spiders will take over and dissolve you lot in tubs of bleach, how about them apples!

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 17 May 2004 02:38 (twenty-two years ago)

trayce, i think you want the Predict the results of the 2004 US Presidential Election thread.

dyson (dyson), Monday, 17 May 2004 02:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Hahaha :D

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 17 May 2004 02:47 (twenty-two years ago)
