Hoffa's type has a long, long pedigree. He had all the attributes you'd expect to find in a successful warlord or big time gangster. His only morality was expediency, violence and intimidation were useful tools within easy grasp, and the only humans who mattered were his loyal troops. He was good at it and quite powerful in his day. So was Capone.
