are you always the first to buy the latest gadget or are you the kind of person to be highly sceptical and wait until all your mates have bought it before following suit?

Always wait. Then get my friends old junk when they upgrade...

i'm generally a mid- to late-adopter unless the item in question (a) is cheap or (b) would make a substantial instant improvement to my lifestyle

Late adopter. I hate gadgets and I hate wasting money on gadgets unless I'm absolutely sure that they'll make a significant improvement to my life.

five years pass...

What IS it with Asia and microphones? I thought technology was developed there and they were world leaders in that kind of thing?

But no, every time someone from that region of the world is on TV (weeping Palestinians, angry Iranian voters, official North Korea newscasters, etc), their sound is clipped (TOO LOUD SO YOU HEAR KRSHKRSHKRSH EVERY TIME THEY SAY SOMEKRSH, like they're the biggest amateurs and nobody has seen a microphone and a decibel meter up close before this transmission.

???

Is it an audio version of seeing NTSC footage on a European TV (i.e. ridiculous colours)?
