not a Trek!

I really like my Giant.

Rocky Mountain if you can afford it. Poss Orange. That's the best stuff I see at trade shows or in my repair stand. Rocky Mountain is the best made bike I've seen bar none. Avoid full suspension unless yr going for actual downhill-xc riding. Not knowing much abt what's for sale in the us, that's about all I can offer.

It seems that Cannondale and Specialized have the markets cornered around where I live...with a few Treks, GTs, and Giants scattered around. I was really interested in Fuji's MTB's but they are a little hard to find...Bianchi's are nice, but expensive. I have never heard of Rocky Mountain though.

Mostly trail riding, Blue Ridge Mountains in VA...as well as city cruising(DC).

I usually ride in Brooklyn, but at some point this summer I want to start riding across the bridge to work. Helmet is U&K for Manhattan.

lauren, riding in new york city, as is driving a car in new york city, is definitely something you must become accustomed to. start exercising your middle finger.

stence.. i ride across the wburg bridge to broadway and john st everyday. i highly recommend it. i'll hold your hand.

awwww, thanks cutty! (my route would prolly be either across Manhattan or Brooklyn Bridges, though.)

perhaps i can buy the "discount" schwinn that my twitchy neighbor wants to sell me and bring it to ft. greene to practice with you, h. we can ride to o'connors!

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 20 May 2004 14:28 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, that's an easy ride from my house, not much car traffic going that way, and crossing Fulton and Atlantic aren't too bad at all. Al!c3 can practice with us, she needs to put in some more hours on her newish bike. We rode to a bbq in W'burg two weeks back and she fell a lot. : (

rocky mountain's web site:

http://www.bikes.com/index.aspx

in many years of trawling thru bicycle trade shows, this = probably the best bike I have ever seen:

nb I don't sell these, or any mountain bikes for s.th like 7 yrs now. When I saw these at the show, I actually contemplated getting them in, but their minimun stocking in order was something like 7 bikes, and they're expensive!

So, i got a bike during lunch. Cannondale F400.

Spinktor, Thursday, 20 May 2004 16:45 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, it's as easy as that?

cutty (mcutt), Thursday, 20 May 2004 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Its not like i just decided to buy a bike today, Ive been looking around and have been to about 5 shops this week. Its about what i need/want. It was between that or a rockhopper.
