, well, some 25 or so minutes to go).

Will it stay this way, huh?

(With Zidane just off and whatnot...)

Erm, I do actually wonder is it live, right now on France's TV5...?

(74th minute, still 0:0, btw)

Sorry France are playing who now?
(I have Tv5 in the other room, but the telly's being used)

Well what do you guess? :)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Thursday, 20 May 2004 19:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Hint-hint (haha), it's the FIFA 100 anniversary friendly.

So it's 50 a side? What five goalies each?

Could create some traffic.

de, Thursday, 20 May 2004 19:44 (twenty-two years ago)

'xactly. marvellous, albeit occasional, traffic jams in either box now and now and againagain.

with the telly commentators crying "ooh-la-la!" and "ai-ai-ai!" with some frequency, let alone poignancy.

On the subject of French teams I like what Guilleme Balague said in the London Metro (newspaper) today: "Last season the transfer market stopped, financial fear left French clubs holding on to their stars for a year longer than usual and they created havoc in Europe - with Marseille reaching the UEFA Cup final and Monaco doing likewise in the Champions League." I find it amusing French clubs upset the odds so spectacularly because of this little glitch; imagine what they could do on a regular basis if the French acually went to watch their football teams.

(I didn't see the game sorry. It sounded like a back-slapping nightmare to be honest)

that'd be a yellow card for challenge from behind

I watched it. It was fairly entertaining, most notably Zidane soaking through his retro kit within 15 mins, the sweaty bastard. Those 100 year old-style strips were a strange and silly idea I thought, especially as the French were wearing belts. Fortunately both teams donned their current kits at half-time.

Henry was poor until he started getting booed 15 minutes from the end, at which point he started trying. Other than that, some decent chances at either end, some more crap free-kicks from Roberto Carlos and an excellent debut from French right back Bernard Mendy - he skinned RC, making him look like an old man.

I loved the retro shirts! They should use them in EURO 2004. The shirts were the best part of the game, everybody was tired from the regular season and wanted to take a rest before the EURO 2004.
