It had to happen.

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:18 (twenty-two years ago)

most: Spencer Chow, mary, felicity, lauren
least: me

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:19 (twenty-two years ago)

most: me
least: ian

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I suspect I am amongst the least fashionable. Any speculation that age, sex, income and nationality have any bearing on the answers to this thread will of course be routinely laughed at.

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Ian has good sideburns, that makes him fashionable. My sideburns are too unruly and I haven't had a haircut in probably 6 months.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I am also in the running for least fashionable.

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

It's been about 3 months since the last haircut for me. I'm wearing shoes from Payless, pants from Target, shirt from H&M.

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

STEVEM

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

for best, that is

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

hmm well I am actually wearing Campers, but they're three years old. And green jeans from the Gap that are probably a decade old.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Hardcore kids wear girl pants? ?

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:24 (twenty-two years ago)

VINTAGE JEANS = HSTENCIL IS FASHIONABLE!

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:24 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm wearing a scrunchie today so that lets me out.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:24 (twenty-two years ago)

THIS THREAD IS NOW THE ILX "AM I FASHIONABLE OR NOT"

PS IGNORE THE FAT CHICK

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

are they vintage if you've just been wearing them like once a week since you were 14?

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:26 (twenty-two years ago)

JBR my girlfriend is also bringing back the scrunchie! It's a movement!

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:26 (twenty-two years ago)

also JON that chick is not fat! Is it the girl from No Fun what had the commas tattooed on her shoulders?

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Your shirt is really dirty Jon!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm sorry, 'the fat chick'?

luna (luna.c), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Anyone that posts to this thread is unfashionable. (I already know that I am)

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not very fashionable, but I've got style, it's a gift.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:27 (twenty-two years ago)

style is way better than fashion, jel is totally OTM.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:28 (twenty-two years ago)

THAT GIRL IS FAT. HER ARMS ARE LIKE MY THIGHS. SHE WAS MOST CERTAINLY NOT AT NFF.

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:28 (twenty-two years ago)

that said, Spencer Chow, mary, felicity, and lauren are all fashionably stylish people. A lot of fashionable people could not claim to be so.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Today = Carhartt shorts, brown faded polo shirt, Diesel specs, Pierre Cardin watch, M&S pants, trainer socks and Art shoes.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:29 (twenty-two years ago)

there was a girl who looked kinda like that at No Fun though Jon. You don't remember her tattoos? Also, you're too skinny.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I AM SKINNY AND BALD

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:31 (twenty-two years ago)

That girl is not fat and you're disgusting.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I can see hair on your head jon.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I left my Goodyear trucker hat at home today.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:33 (twenty-two years ago)

OMG A DISS

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:34 (twenty-two years ago)

are you fat?

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't wear hats. I wear a watch I bought at CVS and I did a bad job of shaving today.

BUT WAIT I JUST REALIZED THE KICKER THAT WILL WIN ME THE PRIZE:

I am wearing socks with Santa Claus on them today, because they were the only clean dark socks I could find.

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I know the story behind Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop's pic. Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop has just called the girl fat. The girl is understandably angry with Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop and so sneers at him. So Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop distorts her angry expression into a smile with his hands and says "Aw c'mon, don't get upset. You may be a biffer but you can still dance the nite away at my indie disco with its twee lighting fx!"

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Nope, just offended.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:35 (twenty-two years ago)

fat bottom girls make the rockin' world go 'round, Jon.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:36 (twenty-two years ago)

luna, why are you offeneded?

MarkH, otm.

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:37 (twenty-two years ago)

you have a lot to learn about women, young Williams-san.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Because I think it was a shitty thing to say.

(a) There's way too much emphasis on body type in this country as it is;
(b) it was irrelevant to the picture (and iirc, you've said it elsewhere about the same picture - I assume this chick is your friend, wtf, dude?);
(c) she's NOT FAT;
(d) I don't think anyone should be judged by, or described by, their body type. What someone looks like has no bearing on who they are, and it fucking irks me.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

GIRLS THINK THEY ARE "TOO MACHO."

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:42 (twenty-two years ago)

whatever the fuck THAT means.

aww thanks!

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 21 May 2004 19:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay now I am convinced that everything Lagerfeld has done at Chanel for the past decade is a prolonged joke at the expense of the fashion press. Which still doesn't get it.

j.lu (j.lu), Friday, 21 May 2004 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

omg the story phil is telling totally confirms his fashionable-ness.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

whoops! not gonna spill the beans! good luck phil!

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 19:48 (twenty-two years ago)

most stylish ILXer, hands down, is Anna. She always looks stunning.

mandee, Friday, 21 May 2004 19:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Laurel is amazing too, although she doesn't post that much.

Gregory Henry (Gregory Henry), Friday, 21 May 2004 20:11 (twenty-two years ago)

No pics here. None required. I lost touch with fashion in 1972 or so, back when I had some actual claim to being young and cute, and I have never looked back. I am deeply, profoundly, blindly, stupidly ignorant of fashion. That includes the entire history of fashion for the past three decades.

I lived in Portland, Oregon back when the most fashionable band from here was Paul Revere and the Raiders. Hell, I even date back to the days of the Kingsmen (think "louie, Louie"). I understand that situation has changed somewhat and Portland now basks in a modicum of fashionableness. You could fool me. I live in the suburbs so how should I know what's going on downtown? My yard is full of weeds. The house needs painting again, but I can't be arsed. I can't even manage to be suburban-fashionable.

It is even remotely possible that I some small element of my life has fallen into fashion without my realizing it. Like a man who talks in his sleep, I would be the last to know, and even then the knowledge would remain theoretical.

Aimless (Aimless), Saturday, 22 May 2004 00:33 (twenty-two years ago)

hstencil is hardly the least fashionable. i believe i own that catergory in regards to attire.

jack cole (jackcole), Saturday, 22 May 2004 01:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Most: the people everyone's pointed to, NYC contingent, etc. are impressive

Least: me - usual attire (by usual I mean 350+ days/year): black Docs or low-top Chuck Taylors, jeans (sometimes even boot-cut) and a t-shirt or gas-station type workshirt. And either a Red Sox, Celtics or Mavericks cap depending on the season. I'm a half-step above chain wallets and drinking domestic lite beer.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Saturday, 22 May 2004 01:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Like a man who talks in his sleep or like Kurt Vonnegut?

gabbneb (gabbneb), Saturday, 22 May 2004 01:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I am the least successful dandy on ILX

gabbneb (gabbneb), Saturday, 22 May 2004 01:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd like to be stylish and fashionable, but I'm an extremely frugal person who nearly has a heart attack whenever an article of clothing costs more than $30, so maybe that's not going to work for me. Plus, there's the whole body shape thing to try to work with.

If I didn't know (or "know") certain people here as well as I believe I do, I'd be so wrapped up in envy over how they seemingly look very striking and well-put together in every photo I've seen of theirs. Grr, beautiful bodies + no financial hangups!

Those Beautiful Lines (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 22 May 2004 04:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm looking rather shockingly anglophilic this evening in Doc Martens and a Fred Perry shirt (oh what a cliche), but I'm usually in some stupid t-shirt extolling the merits of some stupid band (not always Killing Joke, honest), so obviously I'm a fashion catastrophe. The wife is trying (she got me to renounce the Gap in favor of Earl Jeans, for whatever that's worth and encourages other branch outs), but I'm still pretty hopeless.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 22 May 2004 04:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Cheers Mandy. I've always liked your 50's-style look. (On the same note, I'd like to include Sam, I've not seen many photos, but her clothing descriptions sound very cool.)

Also: Suzy, Felicity, Dastoor, Starry Sarah's current Beatnik-y look, JtN is very dapper, Gareth.

Anna (Anna), Saturday, 22 May 2004 15:00 (twenty-two years ago)

gabbneb, you bastard, I'm not that old.

[tears out pitiful remnants of his once fine tresses; weeps hot salt tears; kicks lawnmower, the arrogant slave that is his master; wonders what's for dinner; remembers; stares idly at his dirty fingernails; takes a nap]

Sorry. I'm better now.

Aimless (Aimless), Saturday, 22 May 2004 15:56 (twenty-two years ago)

STRONGO, for both categories.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 22 May 2004 16:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Most fashionable: C-Man
Least: Ned.

CRW (CRW), Saturday, 22 May 2004 18:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I...don't know?

I'm gonna look up the new shoes thread again, one of our wee lassies has great taste in footwear.

Leeest: Me

Observe my everyday dress:

http://www.geocities.com/redhalcyon/me-crusher-small.txt

I am wearing turquoise sweats and a grey college sweater over a thin navy blue faux-turtleneck. I wear this "ensemble" everyday.

I like your red hair, though.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 22 May 2004 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

is that a stunnable or dematerialisable offence???

Yes.

Leeefuse 73 (Leee), Saturday, 22 May 2004 19:05 (twenty-two years ago)

My going-outside-where-people-will-see-me outfits: khakis + t-shirt. And weather permitting, SHORTS. I WEAR SHORT PEOPLE.

Leeefuse 73 (Leee), Saturday, 22 May 2004 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

There's nothing to say about the fact that Lee wears dwarves on his feet.

My excuse is that I was bent over instead of standing upright and clenching like the other guy, but still, that's one big ass.
