A Nairn (moretap), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Venezuela trip in July, serious pitching of writing to fiction agents and more, pondering.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:53 (twenty-two years ago)

will you see angel falls?

A Nairn (moretap), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

P'raps. Details still being assembled.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Trips to Chicago and back to London (including a few days in Greece or Croatia) planned for August/September. Working. Enjoying house. More writing, hopefully.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Venezuela! Ned, you should definitely try to feel the spirit of the clave in Venezuela. A lot of Venezuelans have a healthy appreciation of salsa. (They have a really distinctive form of the salsa basic step that I can't even begin to approximate.)

Rockist Scientist, Friday, 21 May 2004 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Venezuela sounds really cool! Have a good time, Ned.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Heh, no worries, Rockist, my friends there have already said I *will* be taken out dancing for salsa at some point, so I can live with that. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 21 May 2004 19:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, did you get my e-mail? I need you to send your address to the e-mail I give you there.

Rockist Scientist, Friday, 21 May 2004 19:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I did indeed, sir, and will send a reply.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 21 May 2004 19:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm quitting my job!

really scary (teeny), Friday, 21 May 2004 19:05 (twenty-two years ago)

My plans: unpack and get new apartment organized. Get back to taking driving lessons and then get my license. Probably spend remainder of the summer giving priority to dancing.

If it turns out that I can afford it with the increased rent I am paying (and other related increases in expenses), and if it can be fit into what is likely to be an increasingly difficult work schedule (thanks to losing some of our department's staff), then start taking Spanish lessons again (after a five or six year absence) in the fall. But those are really enormous ifs.

x-post: Ned, I wish I had something Venezuelan to send you.

Rockist Scientist, Friday, 21 May 2004 19:06 (twenty-two years ago)

In the next month+, these are the things I know are going to happen fer sher:

*take the boy to Ocean Isle, North Carolina for some ocean time May 28-June 5
*see X-ecutioners live @ The Dame June 10
*take the boy to King's Island for free June 11
*see Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra @ The Dame June 15
*jump out of an airplane with a large piece of fabric which will slow my descent to a survivable speed at my long-time friend Josh's trained instruction sometime in late June/early July

nick take your son on the Beastie!

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 May 2004 19:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Whether or not I take the Spanish classes, I have to give some thought to other job possibilities. Things have improved a lot, but I still would rather not work forever in this position. (Attractive promotional possibilities are limited and at least one such position which is going to be open soon may go unfilled indefinitely, given the current Philadelphia budget crunch, which I don't think is going to go away any time real soon.)

Rockist Scientist, Friday, 21 May 2004 19:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm planning to learn to drive a stickshift, speak a little Spanish, and to dance too.

A Nairn (moretap), Friday, 21 May 2004 19:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Real men drive stickshifts. Good luck to you.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 21 May 2004 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

(I drive an automatic, btw)

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 21 May 2004 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I want to take a drawing a class. Can I do this having no experience and little innate artistic talent?

Also, I will spend my weekends at the jersey shore.

mcd (mcd), Friday, 21 May 2004 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I've been doing it on and off on weekends, but I'm no expert yet. I still stale out at many stop lights and don't know what to do when starting from on a hill.

A Nairn (moretap), Friday, 21 May 2004 19:15 (twenty-two years ago)

nick take your son on the Beastie!

HELL YEAH! When [name of insurance company removed by nickalicious to save moderators the trouble] offered the free tickets, the first thought-word-sequence I went through was "LUKAS! SUMMER! BEASTIE!".

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 21 May 2004 19:23 (twenty-two years ago)

work, help my dad finish building his shed, read schloads, get my band's act together. hopefully i'll get some romance somewhere in there, too.

Working, sweating, getting fatter.

NA (Nick A.), Friday, 21 May 2004 20:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Mission of Burma June 10.

I've signed up for a drawing class, no experience expected, because I went to a get-together with drawing and posing, and found I liked it (and was a little better than I expected because I've never really tried before). If you're in the US, mcd, look into adult ed classes at a local junior college.

Get rid of a bunch of crap in my house. Clean the house and maybe even get some work done on it (foundation, paint).

nickn (nickn), Friday, 21 May 2004 20:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't even have an original answer.
