MILWALL MILWALL MILWALL!

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 22 May 2004 07:46 (twenty-two years ago)

The omens from Australia on Millwall aren't bad so far. Fremantle (the Dockers) have just thrashed Brisbane, the Manooted of the AFL, and Port Adelaide should do a similar job on Richmond. But I fear much more will be needed.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Saturday, 22 May 2004 07:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I was thinking yesterday that suddenly, Millwall have become the most loved team in all of England. When did this sea-change happen - when they came up against the most highly suported (hence, paradoxicly, the most reviled) team in England in a cup final?

Johnney B, Saturday, 22 May 2004 07:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Really? I thought "No one likes them" and they just "don't care"

But yes I will be wanting them to win today

Ste (Fuzzy), Saturday, 22 May 2004 08:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I'll watch both Cup finals today - I don't want to miss SHL's last game.

Millwall became loved instead of reviled when they qualified for the final and become the ABU for this year. Also, Dennis Wise seems to make people think fluffy thoughts.

Dave B (daveb), Saturday, 22 May 2004 10:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Why the hell is FoxSportsWorld showing Leverkusen/Stuttgart instead of the Celtic?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 22 May 2004 12:34 (twenty-two years ago)

C'mon Millwall.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Saturday, 22 May 2004 13:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Tell you wot, Man u ain't passing it around like they should be. Millwall'l still get walloped, but it may be closer than we thought.

Johnney B, Saturday, 22 May 2004 13:17 (twenty-two years ago)

what the hell was going on with Wise and Scholes just then??!

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 22 May 2004 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

if you're gonna play kisschase i would've thought the target would be ronaldo not scholesy

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 22 May 2004 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah, ain't they sweet!

Johnney B, Saturday, 22 May 2004 13:52 (twenty-two years ago)

May I add, that I am disappointed with Status Quo. Who picked that to be the song that's played as Kean lifts the cup?

Johnney B, Saturday, 22 May 2004 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

wise was a proper toerag.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 22 May 2004 15:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Well that was a half decent first half that became stunningly predictable. Ifill was responsible for letting Ronaldo go unmarked; ronaldo had a great game. He is going to be one of the grebtest players ever.

In other news - SHL signs off with 2 goals to win in Scotland. I got goosebumps and misty eyed, which is what You'll never walk alone always does to me.

xpost - The football authorities are run by cockfarmers. This is why the music gets picked. In the world of football, David Brent has grebt taste. Yet again my one-man campaign to have Abide with me sung by the crowd alone failed. Dicks.

Dave B (daveb), Saturday, 22 May 2004 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

HOI! What's wrong with status quo? I was more alarmed by "Beautiful Day" at least we'll not have to hear it again.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 22 May 2004 15:25 (twenty-two years ago)

May I also take this opportunity to say that 'Wisey' is in fact a cunt. He really is a vile cross eyed little cunt of a twattish thug. I really, really fucking despise him. I feel better now. Shame the little turd didn't get sent off and have a nice stat that meant he'd be featured in pub quizzes for ever alongside Kevin Moran.

Nice banalities from Owen. Motson senile as usual. Danny Baker was good on the BBC. Was occasionally watching a bit of Sky and noticed that Sky's chairs seem desperately uncomfortable.

Dave B (daveb), Saturday, 22 May 2004 15:26 (twenty-two years ago)

"We're one of the few teams that can win it." - Michael Owen

T/S : delusion vs confidence?

Johnney B, Saturday, 22 May 2004 15:27 (twenty-two years ago)

few teams = 16.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 22 May 2004 15:32 (twenty-two years ago)

on a scale of 1 to 100, how annoying is gary newbon / talksport - the man is an annoying loud mouth twerp

DJ Martian (djmartian), Saturday, 22 May 2004 15:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd forgotten about him. He is rubbish.

I am sad that I don't really care about the FA Cup anymore.

Ronaldo to save Man Utd singlehandedly?

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 22 May 2004 16:02 (twenty-two years ago)

What's the score? I'm in Canada, nowhere near cable TV.

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Saturday, 22 May 2004 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Man U 3-0 over Millwall, with two from van N. following Ronaldo's goal.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 22 May 2004 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Poor show.

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Saturday, 22 May 2004 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh man Gary Newbon needs early retirement. Under a witness protection programme.

Patrick Kinghorn, Saturday, 22 May 2004 17:39 (twenty-two years ago)

This season is greatest evah, not only united get humiliated in the league but their consolation prize is beating Millwall. I swicthed to the cricket after the first goal went in.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 22 May 2004 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

do you do that often? it would explain alot.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 22 May 2004 22:29 (twenty-two years ago)

What's the score? I'm in Canada, nowhere near cable TV.

Dude, sportsnet (channel 22 or something) is in almost any bar. Foxsportsworld (channel 159) is in most sportsbars. Sadly, most bars/pubs will open on a Saturday for soccer games. Sportsnet carries Saturdays games, sportsworld gets Sundays and midweek.

Though god knows if anyone is carrying Euro. I think Sportsnet might be nice and show Canadian World Cup qualifying instead.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 23 May 2004 00:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Its a shame if you aren't able to watch Euro 2004 Noodles.

aww ronan, no need for that.

Wise is ok, really enjoy his brand of thuggery. He had to shake things up, get the rest of 'em playing physical football and it was pretty good in the first 40 mins. Shame he didn't get anybody sent off as well as himself, might have kept me from switching it over to the cricket.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 23 May 2004 07:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I kept switching over to the cricket too.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 23 May 2004 08:43 (twenty-two years ago)

ronaldo was far and away the best player on show, although despite my gasp of delight at some piece of uberskill/cheek he performed in the centre circle the cheer was still louder when two millwall players nearly chopped him in half ten seconds later...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 23 May 2004 08:44 (twenty-two years ago)

i fucking hate renaldo. all that fancy footwork...guy you are faster than those defenders. beat them but please don't act the dick about it.

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 23 May 2004 08:48 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, it was funny when wise pushed him in the face. It's Ronaldo's early '90's high school hair style that annoys me the most.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 23 May 2004 08:55 (twenty-two years ago)

jel: o man i didn't want to appear shallow but...OTM!!!!!

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 23 May 2004 08:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I love Ronaldo's hair, though I am disappointed he got rid of the little blond flicky bit.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Sunday, 23 May 2004 08:57 (twenty-two years ago)

but it just looked like he had had half a pan of spaghetti poured over his head...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 23 May 2004 09:08 (twenty-two years ago)

ee's a pretty boy, but that 360 turn past two players was ruddy marv

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 23 May 2004 13:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Man utd winger in making MILLWALL player look daft shokah

Johnney B, Sunday, 23 May 2004 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Best bit of the match = Wisey going making this "come on lads, follow me gesture!" as five Millwall scumbags all surround Ronaldo and try and kick off. Also watching Dennis Wise and Paul Scholes was like watching two dwarves fighting, I kept explaining one of them to pull and axe out.

Its fucking horrible around SE London today - lairy Millwall scumbags drunk and taking over Lewisham High Street. Not nice.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 23 May 2004 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Peter Schmeichel MUST GO NOW.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 23 May 2004 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Also someone, I think it was Schmeichel, went "see, that's how you take a penalty Michael" and Owen was clearly really upset. He was still going "I only missed two this season" minutes later. I thought he was going to cry on camera.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 23 May 2004 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Now, as xposts go, that was good...

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 23 May 2004 16:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Michael Owen has the same voice as John Barnes.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 24 May 2004 08:27 (twenty-two years ago)

it was Only living boy in new cross and the mbv song from Loveless which starts off with.... what sounds like a cello being drawn slowly sounding like groaning.

chris (chris), Monday, 24 May 2004 08:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Forget the indie music, what about the Davis tribute?

Mikey G (Mikey G), Monday, 24 May 2004 08:36 (twenty-two years ago)

It was that 59 second, 3rd track, whatever its called.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 24 May 2004 09:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Djemba-Djemba wouldn't let go of the cup lid! He was playing with it for about 10 minutes. Obviously he'd earned it...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 24 May 2004 20:11 (twenty-two years ago)

two weeks pass...
wooo, TSN/Foxsportsworld has Euro, Sportsnet has Canadian world cup qualifiers. 4-0 over Belize.

"10 pound for a programme!!!"

Cheap as chips (£10).

Billy Dods, Saturday, 19 May 2007 20:59 (nineteen years ago)

My daughter was supposed to watch this in a pub somewhere in London with classmates.

Rock Hardy, Saturday, 19 May 2007 21:08 (nineteen years ago)

Terrible match to mark the opening of the new Wem-ber-ley. The first half in particular was only for fans of watching each team's back four play pass-the-parcel.

Nice finish by Drogba though to get the Chelsea win. I'm sure Giggs appreciated it.

SeekAltRoute, Saturday, 19 May 2007 21:11 (nineteen years ago)

that goal was an absolute peach - almost worth waiting for.

well done fat frank!
