Schweppes is fine by me. Whats this Vernor stuff? I live in the third-world end of Vermont, ie. the northeast kingdom, but haven't noticed it. Does it mix well with whisky?

But does it come in a two liter and can you pour half of it down the drain when it flattens out?

That Buffalo Rock doesn't sting at all on the tongue, but it burns in the back of the throat.

i don't "get" vernor's - is it a southern thing?? some friends rave about it, i think it's mediocre at best

spicy ginger beer/ale is the best

gershy, Monday, 31 December 2007 05:12 (eighteen years ago)

I thought Vernor's was a New England thing. It can be found down here, but it's not real common.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 31 December 2007 05:19 (eighteen years ago)

nope, not southern

"Vernors was not mass distributed nationally until the late 1980s. Previously the drink was primarily distributed only within a few hundred miles of Detroit, with particular popularity in Michigan, western New York, Ohio, Chicago, and Southern Ontario, but it can now be found throughout the United States. It is also popular in Florida, which has large numbers of retired Metro Detroiters, and was even sporadically seen for sale there in the early 1960s — again, due to the presence of northerners migrating to the state after the Second World War."

gershy, Monday, 31 December 2007 05:26 (eighteen years ago)

I grew up on the OH/MI border, and my dad, a Michigander, always got me Vernors when I was an ill boy. The Vernors formula changed sometime in the early 80s when 7-UP or whoever bought the brand, and naturally it wasn't a change for the better.

When I took the SAT in 1985, the proctor brought a "vintage" bottle of Vernors she probably had stashed since 1970 to consume during the affair.

libcrypt, Monday, 31 December 2007 06:35 (eighteen years ago)

fuck vernors

s1ocki, Monday, 31 December 2007 06:44 (eighteen years ago)

gershy, Monday, 31 December 2007 07:13 (eighteen years ago)

it is freakin impossible to find diet ginger ale it seems - the sugar, it is too much of a hit for me and i know aspartame is not so good for body but ginger ale is like the only pop i really like. my mom somehow found a case of diet canada dry, in cans, and it was good to have over christmas. it's a bit too sweet. apparently jones soda makes a good (diet) ginger ale?

more tart than sweet is where it's at

rrrobyn, Monday, 31 December 2007 07:15 (eighteen years ago)
