What's the hype?? I hear about it everywhere...and I'm actually thinking of trying it.

Heidi D., Monday, 24 May 2004 13:08 (twenty-two years ago)

it's no taiko no tatsujin

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 24 May 2004 13:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, go for it. It's not a big investment. It costs a pound a go.

Don't make the mistake of trying Para Para Paradise before you've honed your DDR skillz though. And if you want a less publicly humiliating version of (bascially) the same thing, Beatmania.

JimD (JimD), Monday, 24 May 2004 13:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I was gonna buy it for playstation...They have the game and the pad you can buy...I don't think it's too expensive..But there's like a million different options.

Heidi D., Monday, 24 May 2004 13:12 (twenty-two years ago)

It's pretty great. I have it for Xbox, but you can get better pads for PS2.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 24 May 2004 13:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Where can you buy it? and there's like a million different games...which one to pick? and which pad should i buy? i don't want to spend like 500 dollars but i want a good one.

Heidi D. (Heidi D.), Monday, 24 May 2004 13:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah, right, yeah. Where are you, uk or us (or japan, or somewhere else)? there's diffent PS versions (with different tracklistings) in different regions...

JimD (JimD), Monday, 24 May 2004 13:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Ken C to thread.

Heidi D. (Heidi D.), Monday, 24 May 2004 13:19 (twenty-two years ago)

vs THEM

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 24 May 2004 13:21 (twenty-two years ago)

don't try it

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Monday, 24 May 2004 13:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, not sure about american pricing, but here you can spend anything from £10 on a cheap-looking plastic floor mat, to £800 on a full sized metal unit with handles to hold on to and flashing lights and stuff. And you probably just want the game with most songs you like/recognise on it. Go to www.gamefaqs.com, and search for dance dance revolution, and check out their individual tracklistings. I guess.

JimD (JimD), Monday, 24 May 2004 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks!

Heidi D. (Heidi D.), Monday, 24 May 2004 13:30 (twenty-two years ago)

get the hard plastic pads if you can afford them heidi! the mats get annoying once you start wanting to play the difficult/fast songs cos the mat ends up slipping everywhere!

or the METAL ones! omg look this one even has the handle thing at the back! (pretty expensive though - but omg)

omg

ken c (ken c), Saturday, 29 May 2004 07:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I am buying one.

See, now that's the future of sequencing for electronic dance music if you ask me. Screw the mouse.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 29 May 2004 23:03 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
okay all you nerds
should we get ITG or
DDR Extreme 2?

Haikunym (Haikunym), Thursday, 22 December 2005 19:42 (twenty years ago)

what's ITG? the wife just got Extreme 2 so she could have new songs and a second pad so we could have competitions at the house.

jaxon (jaxon), Thursday, 22 December 2005 19:58 (twenty years ago)

ITG seems to be
a competing system with
lower game/pad price

Haikunym (Haikunym), Thursday, 22 December 2005 19:59 (twenty years ago)

so...no more advice
from anyone about this
CRUCIAL DECISION?

Haikunym (Haikunym), Thursday, 22 December 2005 20:49 (twenty years ago)

do it in an arcade

detoxyDancer (sexyDancer), Thursday, 22 December 2005 20:52 (twenty years ago)

I own ITG and don't particularly like it. The songs kind of suck.

Vinnie (vprabhu), Thursday, 22 December 2005 21:37 (twenty years ago)

now THAT is helpful!
how is the mat for that game?
do you oft use it?

Haikunym (Haikunym), Thursday, 22 December 2005 21:40 (twenty years ago)

getting ITG is like getting a Magnasox or a Tosheepa.

howell huser (chaki), Thursday, 22 December 2005 21:46 (twenty years ago)

wow

Haikunym (Haikunym), Thursday, 22 December 2005 21:47 (twenty years ago)

Red Octane dude. You need a decent mat.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Thursday, 22 December 2005 21:48 (twenty years ago)

you guys are a font
of dance related game smarts
thank you all so much

Haikunym (Haikunym), Thursday, 22 December 2005 21:58 (twenty years ago)

Definitely stick with DDR. Better song selection by far.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Thursday, 22 December 2005 22:00 (twenty years ago)

after playing tons of DDR, i had to scour the used bins and found this for 2$

jaxon (jaxon), Thursday, 22 December 2005 22:17 (twenty years ago)

oh that thread you posted in ilm that got deleted, i was gonna say that e-rotic had a DDR song!

phil-two (phil-two), Thursday, 22 December 2005 22:24 (twenty years ago)

The up arrow on my Red Octane mat broke about a week after getting it, so I'd be a little cautious about getting that kind again. Then again, almost everyone recommends it as the best pad for home usage, so maybe I just got one of the shitty ones. We also have a cheaper but similar non-Red Octane plastic pad that is a bit ripped up, but that's after a year of solid usage.
