Hey guys... I'll be in Vancouver from Wednesday afternoon, June 2nd until Saturday June 5th afternoon... I know a few Vancouver people have popped on the boards here since I last visited. Anyone up for a FAP while I'm there?

I'm also going to the Commodore Ballroom show for Mission Of Burma and Kinski that Friday night... so anyone going to that, I'll be there too.

LC, Tuesday, 25 May 2004 05:02 (twenty-two years ago)

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 06:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Bump.

paging Sym.

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Sym (shmuel), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 19:52 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm not really into the show, but i wouldn't mind grabbing a beer some time. Email me.

Sym (shmuel), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 20:05 (twenty-two years ago)

No, that sounds great. No need to go to the show.
Will email you.

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 21:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you heading right from here to there? You are captain travellacious!

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 23:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Not directly.. I will have a day and a half to spare at home base!

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 23:49 (twenty-two years ago)

(btw, the MOB show is just something I want to go to. I hope I didn't insinuate any Vancouver FAP MUST revolve around this show or anything.)

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 04:51 (twenty-two years ago)

REVIVE! I'm off tomorrow morning. Sym, LC, any other BC lurkers, what's the word? email me contact info at d o n u t b i z i t c h @ h o t m a i l

Dave Q, I understand you do not live close to Vancouver, so I obviously won't impose, but if for any reason, you can and WANT to find your way over here this week, I'd certainly put you up in my room (just west of Gastown, Pender/Hastings) and buy you a drink(s).

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

does that other kuci address work? I just sent you an email there.

Sym (shmuel), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 04:07 (twenty-two years ago)

also, (as a PSA) there's a destroyer/frog eyes show on the 5th, though I'm not sure if I will go.

Sym (shmuel), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 04:08 (twenty-two years ago)

DB check your mail and call the number! And it's weird that you're staying like two blocks from my office.

LC, Wednesday, 2 June 2004 06:29 (twenty-two years ago)

LC, didn't get the email...

( you sure you sent a message to d o n u t b i z i t c h @ h o t m a i l . c o m ?)

Sym, got your mail...

I guess the kinda tentative plan is to get a beer somewhere around 4:30pm on Thursday June 3rd.. unless there's an urgent need to replan...

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 06:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Check it now (I forgot the "izi" part the first time.)

LC, Wednesday, 2 June 2004 07:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Got it!

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 07:45 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, I'm here at an internet place across the street from my hotel in downtown Le Van.

ROQ
ON

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 22:08 (twenty-two years ago)

ahh, vancouver!

derrick (derrick), Thursday, 3 June 2004 02:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah, 93 cent pizza places and 99 cent internet cafes crowded around my hotel. I miss thee, mon Van. *smooch*

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 3 June 2004 03:14 (twenty-two years ago)

so where? Pub 340? El Furniture Warehouse? The (gag) Cambie?

Sym (shmuel), Thursday, 3 June 2004 04:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I have no idea where those places are... Neighborhoods?

I have another friend (outside ILX) who lives in the Commercial Drive area who might be interested in joining in, so I certainly wouldn't mind going out there for a drink. Sound good, Sym? LC? (dave q if you're out here?)

Also, I probably won't make it until 5pmish if that's alright with people... I could do even 6pm or so... Y'all have my number now. so Call me.

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 3 June 2004 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, and the MOB show venue has changed. It's now at Richard on Richards, according the call I got this morning from Ticketmaster.

If any of you are having a hard time getting in touch with me via phone, let me know here or via email, btw. (I've had problems in Vancouver, 604 specifically, in the past where people couldn't call me on my cell but I could call them.)

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 3 June 2004 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Richard on Richards

A certain Frogs song comes to mind.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 3 June 2004 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, so Pub 340 is on 340 Cambie St. in Gastown.. the question is.. when do we meet? Looks like LC (and lots of folks) are watching hockey til 7pm.. so it's looking like meeting there (or elsewhere) AFTER that will be the plan. Or maybe Sym and I can meet beforehand, and LC can join in midway?

(Sym, please try to find a way to call me or leave a message.. check your email)

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 3 June 2004 23:25 (twenty-two years ago)

OK... so here's the deal, since things kinda feel through tonight..

Tomorrow, I might be doing lunch with LC, since I'm staying just blocks away from where he's working.

There are vague plans to meet up before the MOB show (which starts at 7pm) to get an early dinner type thing. Are you guys up for sushi? Perhaps Nikko on Burrard?

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 4 June 2004 04:44 (twenty-two years ago)

db, fire an e-mail at me. I can't make head nor tail of this thread, but my spider sense says you're looking at tomorrow evening for sushi, which is Friday as far as I can tell. You always make me laugh on here, you denizen of our sister city, so I oughta come into town for this, even if I don't see MoB at Dicks on Dicks. Anyway, my e-mail's real.

David A. (Davant), Friday, 4 June 2004 05:18 (twenty-two years ago)

where on burrard is nikko?

Sym (shmuel), Friday, 4 June 2004 05:54 (twenty-two years ago)

WE GON FUCKEN GIVR

LC, Friday, 4 June 2004 09:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Yo Bri lunch is gonna be tough (just remembered I'm covering the 12 midnite gallery pretty much all day in Chitown) and I want to meet the others too so I think it's better if I just meet you after work since I'm so close and we can hit up the sushi thing, which would be PERFECT. I'll call you when I'm off nigga. Sym you better be there too dude! And David you know me too (I'm Coq!) get ur ass here!

LC, Friday, 4 June 2004 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh right. But yeah, where on Burrard is Nikko? This is now all going pear-shaped (as the Limeys say), since I don't know if I'll have access to my little red Honda this PM due to my partner currently driving it god knows where but not telling me yesterday she needed it (the car, the car) today. Plus, she's not answering her cell. But if I manage to get it, and someone answers the sushi question, I'll try to get my raggedy ass there.

David A. (Davant), Friday, 4 June 2004 16:54 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah if someone says where it is i'll be there 430-5ish. I got a beard and glasses, so watch out for me.

sym being lazy, Friday, 4 June 2004 17:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Nikko

It's 1008 Robson St., SECOND FLOOR, in downtown, right off Burrard. Just go to corner of Robson and Burrard, and there should be a sign outside saying "Nikko upstairs" or something, just off Robson. It may not be the cheapest place on earth, but it's not incredibly expensive either. And it's a GREAT place to have a FAP, I think -- even if you're having something small. If food cost is a REAL concern for any of you though, I'd suggest nibbling on a dollar slice or two somewhere beforehand. (I might do the same!)

I plan to be at Nikko around 5pm... (since the MoB show starts at 7pm at Dicks On Dicks). If no one is around (or I don't find Sym inside), I'll be waiting outside below the staircase until 5:30pm... after that, go upstairs, come in and find me. Do the latter first in any case.

I do indeed look like Fred Durst, but I'm taller than him (aka taller than 5' 2" or something... i'm 5' 10"), wearing baby blue flannel, glasses, and no red hat. Or seach almost any Seattle FAP thread on ILE.. I don't look any different now. (i say this because sometimes I do change looks radically)

Ciao!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 4 June 2004 18:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Can't make it this week, thanks for the invite though!

dave q, Friday, 4 June 2004 18:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, dave, let me know when you can make it, and I will try to come up again. I need to see my family in Victoria and Nanaimo soon enough anyway. (although if you can make it only from mid to late June, I'm SOL as I'll be far away)

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 4 June 2004 18:13 (twenty-two years ago)

*slaps forehead* Yeah, I've eaten there. It may not be cheap (it's Robson Street, after all) but it's sure cheaper than the Tsunami restaurant across the street. I'll see if I can make it, although it's not looking good. If I don't, I'll keep my eyes peeled for future Vancouver FAPs on here.

David A. (Davant), Friday, 4 June 2004 20:29 (twenty-two years ago)

See you at 5!

LC, Friday, 4 June 2004 21:12 (twenty-two years ago)

PS I'm short and I dress like a rapper!

LC, Friday, 4 June 2004 22:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Damn, I really wanted to follow up with something stupid like "I'm tall and I dress like an ageing surfer" or something, but I didn't get the wheels. Hope everyone else made it alright.

Next time, peoples, honest.

David A. (Davant), Saturday, 5 June 2004 03:43 (twenty-two years ago)

We did it. First official Vancouver FAP. It was just Sym, LC, and me.. but we had fun talking about stuff... exchanging deep dark ILX secrets, and all that. I definitely want to come back next month, and i probably (hopefully) will. David A... be there!

Mission of Burma and Kinski were amazing at Dix On Diqz. Now I'm off to some electronic thing happening blocks away... later!

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 5 June 2004 05:21 (twenty-two years ago)

another thing... is it odd for me to be weirded out by seeing two lunk-headed jocks perched on a running motorbike with American flags behind their bike, with Alberta license plates, driving right through Granville on a Friday night, looking for fights?

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 5 June 2004 05:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be there. Next month. This last month has been crazy, so I didn't even see the thread til late. But... are there really so few of us?

I really like Dicks on Dicks (Dix on Diqz should now be the official name!) as a small(ish) live venue more than a "Club" these days, although it seems to be slowly disintegrating, in the physical sense.

No, it's not odd to be weirded out, db, but neither is it odd to witness such strangeness in Vancouver, on a weekend, especially now it's officially summer, or something like that. But I can't really explain it.

David A. (Davant), Saturday, 5 June 2004 06:07 (twenty-two years ago)

DB I couldn't convince my peoples to leave Ginger so I couldn't meet you at the electronic gig, and then it started pouring rain! Anyway it was fun finally meeting ILXors today and we should do it again but DIRTIER!!! Salut!

LC, Saturday, 5 June 2004 09:31 (twenty-two years ago)

IT's alright, lc.. the DJing was great.. but it was kinda just a bunch of people sitting around in an art installation, occasionially getting up to slightly shimmy to whenever the music started sounding more faux 80s... you know, that type of dance music that makes you ask "is it from 1980 or 2004?"

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 5 June 2004 16:46 (twenty-two years ago)

LOL dude btw was it odd how I offered you narcotics within two minutes of meeting you?

LC, Saturday, 5 June 2004 20:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah my man M. Towers is contacting Masia as we speak, and I'll probably have the stuff to send you within a week! Also, do you have her "Mississauga" album? Cuz he got a STACK of them at home and I can get those whenever.

LC, Saturday, 5 June 2004 20:25 (twenty-two years ago)

the Masia hookup would be sweet... "Mississauga"? That's like an L.A. area rapper calling his/her album "Pasadena". Odd. And no worries about the offer in the car... (it wasn't two minutes... come on, dont exaggerate... it was more like five minutes.. heh heh) Great meeting you, and many thanks to your hospitality, as well as Sym's. :)
