books on recent british history - S and D

i was looking into this recently myself (without much luck), am very interested in finding any books or resources on post-war britain, politics in particular i think. but yeah, if anyone can point me in the right direction on this i'd be pritty grateful as well.

today i got a copy of "england in the 20th century, 1914-63" by david thomson (no, not that one). anyone read this?

thanks! i'm mainly interested in the last 30-40 years or so, but i'll check a few of those out. "hope and glory" looks like a good bet.
