sgs (sgs), Thursday, 27 May 2004 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Ideally, I'd be watching telly and drinking beer with friends tomorrow night, then having a lazy Saturday watching the final of the playoffs, then gig + party. Sunday would be spent sleeping off hangover, lounging in the sun at a friend's barbeque and then possibly off to the pub in the evening. Monday spent randomly lounging and enjoying the laziness.

I think I can whistle for most of that though. Except the laziness.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 27 May 2004 13:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't torture yourself...

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Thursday, 27 May 2004 13:32 (twenty-two years ago)

No bank holiday here until next weekend. This weekend I intend to work Friday and Saturday, and maybe have a pint or two in the evening. Not too much to ask!

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 27 May 2004 13:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Probably be spending most of it writing up next month's reviews for Uncut. Somewhere in the coming week I also have to interview Marco Pirroni.

Ste (Fuzzy), Friday, 27 May 2005 08:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I am Man at Millett's this weekend...some energising and serious walking around the Halifax/Hebden Bridge bit of Yorkshire.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 27 May 2005 08:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Gurls Aloud on the Saturday, blissful nothing on the Sunday, mother-in-law's 70th birthday on the Monday.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 27 May 2005 08:32 (twenty-one years ago)

and catching bits of the IPO in Liverpool throughout the weekend.

Ste (Fuzzy), Friday, 27 May 2005 08:36 (twenty-one years ago)

have you been to that area before marcello? theres a lot to offer round there. heptonstall might be worth investigating also

charltonlido (gareth), Friday, 27 May 2005 08:43 (twenty-one years ago)

i will be working at least some of the weekend

i may be in norfolk (first time ive been, other than a border skirmish) for some other parts

and i may be out in at various things here in london at other parts.

thuogh, im not sure how all this ties together just yet

charltonlido (gareth), Friday, 27 May 2005 08:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going to spend the weekend with Mum and Dad. I will practice the piano, parallel parking and holding my tongue. I'm hoping for some tapas on Saturday night and a proper roast on Sunday. A bit of sunshine wouldn't go amiss either.

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 27 May 2005 08:45 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah gareth, the area was a favourite of laura and me, we knew it very well and did many walking trips there. no great plan - i'm just going to visit some old haunts. laura was big on both ted hughes and the brontes (we did the bronte way and back three times!) thus the continued interest.

i was up in york about a month ago looking at house prices there, but they're just as bad/unaffordable as london.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 27 May 2005 08:52 (twenty-one years ago)

leeds is even worse, for house prices.

have you been to todmorden as well, its not as, er, dramatic, i guess, but i like it round there too

charltonlido (gareth), Friday, 27 May 2005 09:01 (twenty-one years ago)

indeed laura and i spent vast amounts of money in todmorden, being as how that's where the goldmine northern soul record shop is based.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 27 May 2005 09:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Madchen, any chance of getting away for a few hours walking/pubbing on Sunday or Monday?

I have my best friend's wedding on Saturday, so I'll be ushing, dancing with a bridesmaid, and trying to stay sober enough not to turn into a twat.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 27 May 2005 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Resting and recovering tonight, shopping and a party tomorrow night. Nothing at all on Sunday, watching the big playoff final on Monday.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 27 May 2005 11:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going on manouevres and covert ops.

Alix with an i? (alix), Friday, 27 May 2005 11:50 (twenty-one years ago)

i will be sat at home, melting. will put pooter back together again after new installs and moving disks around and try and finish all those things that aren't finished and which are Dragging On.

koogs (koogs), Friday, 27 May 2005 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Tonight I am going to a party at Emsk's house. And then the rest of the weekend I will be spending in Liverpool, playing at the IPO. Hurrah!

The Square Root Of Negative Two (kate), Friday, 27 May 2005 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

CHEEESE ROLLING OH YEH

Frank Swedehead, Friday, 27 May 2005 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

okay my weekend is taking a turn to the better now. the council lost the FITE vs me about the parking offence and clamping charges, and now have to pay them ALL back to me. i am now going to see girls aloud. and also, i no longer have to work that 12 hour shift on monday.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 27 May 2005 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Miss Misery (thatgirl), Friday, 27 May 2005 14:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Parking and Traffic Appeals Service
An independent tribunal for parking and traffic penalties in London

Kenneth Chu
-v-
London Borough of Islington

Mr Kenneth Chu appealed against liability for the payment of the Penalty Charge and associated release fees paid in respect of:

[info snipped]

Adjudicator's Decision

The Adjudicator, having considered this appeal on the basis of written evidence from the Appellant and writeen evidence from the Council, has allowed the appeal on the grounds that the contravention did not occur.

The reasons for the Adjudicator's decision are attached.

The Adjudicator directs the London Borough of Islington to cancel the Penalty Charge Notice and refund forthwith the penalty charge and the release fees paid.

The Council should issue a cheque for the refund within 28 days. Enquiries regarding payment of this refund should be directed to the Council.

--attachment

Adjudicator's Reasons

The local authority have failed to produce a copy of the Penalty Charge Notice.

Without a copy of the Penalty Charge Notice there is no evidence that a contravention occurred.

I must therefore allow this appeal without consideration of any of the issues raised by either party.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 27 May 2005 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

basically it seems that the council can't even be bothered to produce the PCN to the adjudicator and now i'm getting all of the money back, more than the amount i appealed against in the first place (about £200 more!)

ken c (ken c), Friday, 27 May 2005 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Suddenly, I really want to see Girls Aloud, and I HATE them.

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 09:35 (twenty years ago)

I'm going up to Worcester to see my family. My sister's pregnant, and I haven't been back there since around Easter or so.

Friday I was supposed to be going to an Art Cafe place with some friends then going back to my place so they can meet our kitten (and see our new flat), but I'm not sure if that's still happening cos none of us have actually bothered to email about it. In fact, I shall do that now.

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 09:39 (twenty years ago)

Friends housewarming do

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 09:45 (twenty years ago)

warming houses, RAWKing at Reading (sunday only) and waving meg off for a week, a WEEK, with young portuganese or italian boys in the bristol area...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 09:49 (twenty years ago)

Reading Festival for me.

g-kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 09:49 (twenty years ago)

Sunday is Reading. Monday I'll probably do something with my sisX0r if she's not bouncing off on tour elsewhere. Perhaps the London Dungeon or a Jack the Ripper walk or something fun and cheesey and touristy.

Saturday I will simply sleep. And work on the new Shimura songs.

I Dream Of Sleep (kate), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 09:51 (twenty years ago)

Going up to Edinburgh first thing tomorrow to hang out with Nick and his girlfriend for two days, then back in time for Saturday night in London. I am trying to pack for all seasons. I suspect Ed and I will go to Carnival things too.

(Kate have fun and say hello to your SisXOr for me!)

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 09:53 (twenty years ago)

making a last-ditch attempt to paint the corner of my bedroom i didn't finish painting when i went blind in january on saturday (or more likely, lying in bed reading about tunnels!) rawkin' at readin' on sunday, unless it all goes horribly wrong. for monday, see saturday.

emsk ( emsk), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 10:26 (twenty years ago)

Failing an exam on Friday, DJing at a charity thing for the ISPCC on Saturday. Hopefully feeling the strength returning to my withered gnarled fingers all weekend.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 10:29 (twenty years ago)

Thinking of going down to Brighton on Saturday, if I'm up to it, then probably out with friends on the Sunday, maybe including a movie.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 11:00 (twenty years ago)

There is one of those "special" Q magazines, or Mojos or whatever about Iron Maiden out, and you have all week to read it, Steve.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 11:03 (twenty years ago)

August bank holiday weekend = birthday weekend. I will celebrate my last three days as a 22-yr-old by going to the Cross Central festival on Saturday and Sunday (I hope, anyway, weekend pass still not 100% confirmed aargh) and then picnicking in St James's Park on Monday/seeking refuge in the ICA if it rains. And then on my actual birthday I will spend all day in bed mourning the death of youth.

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 11:04 (twenty years ago)

I'm going to see Rob Newman (again) on Friday night. Going to see my 84 yr old grandfather on Saturday. I'll devote Sunday and
Monday to pruning back my very overgrown garden.

leigh (leigh), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 11:11 (twenty years ago)

i dont really know

エル・ハジ・ディウフ, Wednesday, 24 August 2005 11:46 (twenty years ago)

Was supposed to be going camping this weekend, but the weather forecast says RAIN RAIN RAIN YOU WILL BE WASHED OUT OF YOUR TENT LIKE INCY WINCY SPIDER. So, that's the camping idea up the spout then.

Rumpie, Wednesday, 24 August 2005 13:47 (twenty years ago)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO don't say that. i am hoping it will be only short spells anyway

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 14:18 (twenty years ago)

Sorry, but, you know.

Rumpie, Wednesday, 24 August 2005 14:39 (twenty years ago)

Down the local with a bunch of lads for farewell drinky session tomorrow night.

Saying a bleary goodbye to everyone at work on Friday and trying to look as if I give a shit.

Packing a few last bits (including the cats) and both of us driving down to Portland in convoy on Saturday morning.

Probably down the good old Duke Of Edinburgh "House Of Sounds" in Weymouth for a skinful Saturday night (as long as it isn't poxy Sunstroke playing again like it was last week).

Viewing the two bungalows on our shortlist again on Sunday and making a final decision (looks like we've just finally sold my place - but only after having dropped the price by £30k from the original valuation).

Will we go for the big one with the huge back garden and the fantastic sea views but which is right next to a working quarry, looks as if it's about to have a stables moving to the adjoining field, and which I'm rather concerned may turn out to be just across the road from ASBO central and needs a lot of work doing to it and will probably leave me up to my eyes in debt; or will we go for the nice little one on the quietly anonymous estate that needs next to nothing doing and which we can probably manage to buy without ending up with any mortgage at all by the time the gf's sold her place?

Hmmmm.

Got all of next week off before starting new job on Monday 5th September but will inevitably have shit with Estate Agents and Solicitors to sort out.

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:39 (twenty years ago)

drinking tomorrow night with Madchen, drinking Friday with ethe best man, saturday, hopefully warming a friends house if I'm not dead in a bin after going shopping with a raging hangover. sunday, food science! MOnday, feeling Matt's pain; if the restaurants are open, we're open, normal working day :o(

Porkpie (porkpie), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:44 (twenty years ago)

Record fair on Saturday otherwise just 'chilling', though probably drafted into redecorating the bathroom. I may squeeze one or two glasses of wine in as well.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 22:36 (twenty years ago)

Update: now spending all of the weekend at Reading. Then going to the HMS Belfast, the Jack the Ripper walk and possibly the London Dungeon with Stooges on Monday.

I Dream Of Sleep (kate), Thursday, 25 August 2005 06:43 (twenty years ago)

FAP tonight, not sure about tomorrow, Acid On Sea Saturday daytime, party on Saturday evening, Food Science on Sunday, sleeping on monday.

RickyT (RickyT), Thursday, 25 August 2005 07:39 (twenty years ago)

"Update: now spending all of the weekend at Reading."

My immediate reaction was "wtf - I'm moving away because I just can't stand the shithole anymore, and suddenly the world and his live-in-lover and all their illegitimate children are climbing over themselves to visit the dump - am I using the wrong deodorant or is it something I said (again)?"; but then I realised.

You're talking about the festival, not the town, aren't you?

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Thursday, 25 August 2005 07:42 (twenty years ago)

Yes, I'm talking about the festival. ;-)

Was initially not to pleased about that, either, as quite frankly, I'd rather be chasing lost rivers around Clerkenwell (hilarious, that within ten minutes of meeting up with Ron, he was all "Ah! Do you know where the Fleet comes out? I was watching this cool program about underground rivers in London...") but we will have backstage/AAA passes and a tourbus so it shouldn't be *too* horrible.

(Sorry if it seems like I'm boasting/namedropping/whatever, but I'm sorry, I am just SOOOO excited about this. I feel like a kid in a candy shop. When Dare and I were teenage punks, we used to spend hours playing rubbish garageband covers of I Wanna Be Your Dog and now, 20 years later, we're sitting in posh hotels in London drinking with Stooges.)

I Dream Of Sleep (kate), Thursday, 25 August 2005 07:46 (twenty years ago)

::bounce::

Sorry, it is going to be so hard concentrating on databases for the next two days!

I Dream Of Sleep (kate), Thursday, 25 August 2005 07:49 (twenty years ago)

I've hardly concentrated on anything at work for the last month. I don't know why I'm even bothering to turn up at all now, since my final salary payment is already on it's way into my account.
