Maura JUST told us Seattle peeps she's in town. Just as some of us were leaving for either Portland or Anchorage this weekend! Grrrrrr.

Well, I'll be back Monday, and will be around Tuesday (before I head to Vancouver on Wednesday), so I'll be happy to do meals and FAPping then.

This is the thread for the other Seattle folks to show Maura a good time who will be here this weekend. yay!

I am here all weekend and this will happen.

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Friday, 28 May 2004 07:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to live in Seattle. is the Comet still a good place for a FAP?

aimurchie, Friday, 28 May 2004 10:38 (twenty-two years ago)

yay Matos!

aimurchie.. good question! (assuming you mean the Comet Tavern) Surely it would be, but I think it tends to be a) the venue for something always happening every night therefore a cover charge required, and/or b) the venue for, i THINK, allegedly a REALLY raunchy and awesome lesbian night strip/tease show.. which might make a great FAP venue if people are willing to pony up the cover charge. (but I might have my venues confused, and no, that night doesn't happen at the Wild Rose across the street)

I've got strep throat, you don't want me ANYWHERE NEAR YOU. :-(

Ew, grody disease.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 28 May 2004 20:58 (twenty-two years ago)

TELL me about it.

Layna Andersen (Layna Andersen), Friday, 28 May 2004 21:24 (twenty-two years ago)

i would like to meet maura. i don't have much in the way of plans but here is my agenda for the weekend:

obtain motorcycle helmet
eat chocolate croissant
buy cases of aloe and chrysanthemum drink at uwajimaya
catch bees

other than that i'm open

ron (ron), Friday, 28 May 2004 22:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Ron, are you obtaining the motorcycle helmet to help you catch the bees? Because that would totally rule.

martin m. (mushrush), Friday, 28 May 2004 23:08 (twenty-two years ago)

happy birthday maura!!!

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Friday, 28 May 2004 23:28 (twenty-two years ago)

heh, when i told my friend fiona that i was going to get a chocolate croissant and catch bees, she was like "wait, is the croissant for you or is it for catching bees?" i have motorcycle class in a couple of weeks but i will also consider catching bees in the helmet. i could fill it with chrysanthemum drink and they would come from miles around!

ron (ron), Saturday, 29 May 2004 00:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I was thinking more like you would be wearing the helmet while running through a field of bees with a net.

martin m. (mushrush), Saturday, 29 May 2004 00:28 (twenty-two years ago)

clearly i need two helmets!

ron (ron), Saturday, 29 May 2004 00:52 (twenty-two years ago)

ron (ron), Saturday, 29 May 2004 09:20 (twenty-two years ago)

^^^that was a cell phone test post

anyone heard from maura.com?

ron (ron), Sunday, 30 May 2004 01:45 (twenty-two years ago)

nope, even after I wrote her back IMMEDIATELY w/my phone number. so who fucking knows.

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Sunday, 30 May 2004 02:21 (twenty-two years ago)

let me add that it's not like she has an obligation to call me or anything; nor that I'm angry about it (as the "who fucking knows" might indicate).

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Sunday, 30 May 2004 02:30 (twenty-two years ago)

A rubbish Maura

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 30 May 2004 02:47 (twenty-two years ago)

She mentioned she was going to be really busy. So....

Well, anyway, I'd hope something can materialize Monday evening.

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 30 May 2004 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm so glad the Comet is a cool place to go, still....we used to call it "fort living room". I have a spoken word piece, on the first Home Alive! CD, called "Another Beer Soaked Night At The Comet Tavern" - so my love for the place is immortalized. (I really should have my own bar stool, even though I never sat at the bar).
Is Jimmy Woos Jade Pagoda still there at the other end of broadway? I still have friends in Seattle, but noone goes out anymore. Too busy having mewling, pink faced brats that i have to buy gifts for - besides my usual gift, a bottle of booze.

aimurchie, Monday, 31 May 2004 00:05 (twenty-two years ago)

i think it's there, although i've never been inside and i don't get to broadway much. orpheum finally closed though. and they remodelled the broadway pagliacci in fancy interior designer style which is kind of disorienting

speaking of home alive, they convicted the guy who murdered zapata, hope you know. i'm not sure how much that kind of news makes it out of this area.

ron (ron), Monday, 31 May 2004 02:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, I know. But thanks. I was there the night Mia was murdered, at the Comet. Her death has played out for me in many weird ways. But now I know - and everyone knows - who killed her. The mystery - and misery - was the hard part.
We - WE! Exciting young vibrant people - could not contain the hard part. We were all so young, and innoccent, and we all thought that it must be someone from inside. And then you examine everyone you know - and yourself - and end up with nothing. For ten years.
Ten long hard cruel years later justice is done.
I owned Seattle as much as I could. I am glad that a new generation is thriving. Everyone will always remember Mis Zapata, right? Remember her voice and songs - not her death. And defend yourself.

Esa es tuya - esa es mia
(What is mine is yours)
Viva Zapata!
Viva la Revolucion!
We will all be together on the other side of the river.

"This is for prisoner's books!" -Mia Zapata

aimurchie, Monday, 31 May 2004 05:46 (twenty-two years ago)

like books to prisoners?

ron (ron), Monday, 31 May 2004 06:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Exactly. Left Bank Books used to host the project in Seattle. The irony is that Mia shouted out about it and her killer is a prisoner. And she would want him to have books.

aimurchie, Monday, 31 May 2004 06:41 (twenty-two years ago)

wow i didn't know she was into that. i've been going to b2p lately, it's pretty cool.
