Why the hell do people who are all about drama and stressing over situations get angry when you are calm in the face of the same situation?

I work with this maniac who will always come into my office, arms literally flapping about her head, swearing incessantly, freaking out about something that's usually computer-related. I'll calmly explain to her that "hey, all we need to do is this, and then this, and it's all okay" but that makes her freak out even more. And for some reason she insisted that we go with more expensive, less user-friendly options over the free thing we could have set up on our servers! Maybe because it was her idea. Also, she bears a striking resemblence to the Penguin as played by Danny DeVito.

sometimes I'm the one freaking out. Other times I'm the calm in the eye of the storm. I think I do it to be contrary. Or, more likely, it depends on how hungry I am. Or if the "issue"(when discussing work specifically) occurs while I'm trying to write an email or something.

Because they are WORTHLESS SACKS OF SHIT.

No, actually it's because you're not playing the game the way they want it played. They chose the psychodrama, chose their role, set the stage, said "Action!" and started hamming it up, and you said, "Eh, I don't feel like it." Damn you! Why aren't you a team player! This is going on your permanent record!

You're right of course! she's nuts and of course when I don;t play into the game, or the game of the guy who comes in saying "hey so and so told me this, and she shouldn't have because I'll totally use it against her", suddenly I'm the troublemaker

She can hide her mental problems when she can get everybody else whipped up into the same frenzy. The calmer you are, the worse you're making her look. You're so *sob* MEAN!

Boy, this one is taking me back. For years I was the calm one who was an asshole for not playing the game... the madder they got, the calmer I got. Have you gotten her to run to the bathroom to cry yet?
