My employers still insist on calling in my predessor for certain tasks/jobs...

...even though she quit a few months ago. Do they not think that that might kind of PISS ME OFF???? Especially when I am doing, in my opinion, quite a good job, and am more than capable of taking on the admittedly large workload that this position requires at the moment?

And of course, they're all chummy and jokey with her and she acts like she can just come and go as she pleases, whenever she needs a little money. FUCK THAT.

Before y'all start posting a buttload of "watch your back" - type posts, it's not like that.

So I'm a little anti-social at work. THIS IS NOT A POPULARITY CONTEST.

Work IS a popularity contest, though, and one I've lost throughout my career. :(

Mark, please cheer up!

He's right about your being wrong, you know. It helps being an attractive girl too (on the low end of the stick where I am anyway. I know in upper level positions, women don't get paid as much.)

Oh, this used to happen to me a lot when I started my last job. My predecessor was neighbors with my boss and they went to the same church. So even though she was supposed to be working at another location, my boss would call her over all the time to do work so they could chat, etc. It was like I wasn't even in the room half of the time. I wish I had some advice I could give you, but the only way I resolved this situation was to find a better job.

I like this job a lot!

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Monday, 14 June 2004 15:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, my last job also sucked in almost every other respect so that was just one of the things that caused me to leave.

If it carries on and you do like your job and want to stay there, the only thing to do is raise it with whoever keeps calling her in.

Archel (Archel), Monday, 14 June 2004 15:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I think you are right.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Monday, 14 June 2004 15:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks.

I don't think there's any ulterior motive, just a lack of sensitivity concerning my insecurities about my ability to do what is a fairly new and challenging job.
