in your life how important is 'play'?

cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 19 June 2004 10:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Very. Unless you mean the Moby record, that is not important. Play often leads to laughing and laughing is ace.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Saturday, 19 June 2004 11:02 (twenty-two years ago)

pat kane.

cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 19 June 2004 11:04 (twenty-two years ago)

bnw (bnw), Saturday, 19 June 2004 15:22 (twenty-two years ago)

In terms of happiness and satisfaction, play is everything.

What's sex without play? Mechanics and hydraulics. An expense of spirit in a waste of shame.

What about a job where you never feel playful vs. one where you play your day away? One is like a toothache while the other you'd give your eye teeth for.

All the best people play with ideas, play with toys, play with their food and with each other. No doubt about it.

Aimless (Aimless), Saturday, 19 June 2004 17:13 (twenty-two years ago)

don't hate the playa, hate the game

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 19 June 2004 17:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Sex is best when you have a frozen bottle of water to hand, bobbly condoms, and wink a lot.

I had a pleasant afternoon.

All play and no work makes Jack a sad boy.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 June 2004 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

blobby condoms? merchandise has gone too far.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 19 June 2004 17:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Wasn't he supposed to look like one anyway?

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 June 2004 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

"Man is at his most free and at his best when he is at play."

Casuistry (Chris P), Saturday, 19 June 2004 17:47 (twenty-two years ago)

What work/play ratio do people think is necessary to be satisfied in life?

I'd say 60/40

Laura E (laurae55), Saturday, 19 June 2004 17:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you talking hours here?

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 June 2004 18:00 (twenty-two years ago)

If I worked for 60% of my waking hours, I think I'd go bananas. But maybe you are thinking of other (waking) activities that are neither work nor play.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 June 2004 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Work 30%
Play 40%
Sleep 30%

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 19 June 2004 18:56 (twenty-two years ago)

work 1%
play 49.5%*
sleep 49.5%*

(* interchangeable)

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 19 June 2004 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

is this dedicated play or playfulness while working?

x Jeremy (Atila the Honeybun), Saturday, 19 June 2004 19:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Reading ILE at work = "play".

Singing while doing the dishes = "work".

Casuistry (Chris P), Saturday, 19 June 2004 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Sometimes I still think about life as though it is a game of The Sims. I imagine "play" makes your fun meter go up (stress down), and "work" makes it go down (stress up). Which activities make you feel this way is of course subjective.

Laura E (laurae55), Saturday, 19 June 2004 19:53 (twenty-two years ago)

in which case:

work 40%
play 20%
working-out 10%
sleep 10%

x j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Saturday, 19 June 2004 19:53 (twenty-two years ago)

and we daren't ask about that missing 20%...

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 19 June 2004 21:52 (twenty-two years ago)

the extra 20 percent is for byobb

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 19 June 2004 21:54 (twenty-two years ago)
