I guess I just watched it for the first time all the way to the end... Because I realized that the ending is totally an homage to Bresson's The Pickpocket. Which makes sense, because Paul Schrader was a huge fan (supposedly that was also the inspiration for the mirror scene in Taxi Driver). Um, and Lauren Hutton is hot.
