If you google for those files, on the right side of the screen there are ads for programs that say stuff like "Auto-Fix All VXD Errors In Minutes!", maybe you could somehow get one of those programs for free.

er, i forgot the operative sentence there: apptly this .vxd file doesn't actually exist, it's part of some other driver and gets unpacked. don't ask me, i'm pretty dumm abt this stuff but that's one of the responses somewhere in that morass of newsgroup posts.

I have just switched back to ME because my computer has been a slutbeast with both xp and 2000, I'm doomed! At the moment it sends me offline with carefree abandon and unholy glee... but I guess it beats not having a computer at all. Sorry for hijacking the thread for a whinge.

Oh shit, the little turd has just disconnected me again. I don't know whether to blame my turgid computer or firebomb the ISP offices

Remove ME, install 98.

Or buy some more RAM and stick 2k/XP on.

ME is the fucking pits.

Jarlr'mai pretty much OTM, though I know at least one person who loves loves loves ME, and hates hates hates 98 or 2000/XP. Me, every time I've tried to install ME I've had a shitload of stupid little problems. When I was doing regular motherboard benchmarking, I just didn't even bother trying to install ME on most of the machines because in a lot of cases it just wouldn't ever complete the install properly.

Further go g--ff's post though, most of those files are hidden inside the CAB files on the Windows disks. If you know which CAB it is, you can often unpack them manually from the command line using a bit of DOS majick. I can't quite remember how to do that any more though.
