hullo kids, so are we having a pre-glasto pint then or what?

i'm not sure where though, any ideas?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 09:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I suggest The Three Crowns outside Old Street station, cos it's got three pool tables and it's very easy (for me) to get to.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 09:42 (twenty-two years ago)

if we're suggesting places that are easy to get to, let's do the mucky pup in islington-- that way i can run home and do laundry in between drinks...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 09:44 (twenty-two years ago)

the big red on holloway road has 4 pool tables!!!! +quiz machine and a "rock and roll juke box".

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 09:46 (twenty-two years ago)

on the downside it's called "the big red"

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 09:46 (twenty-two years ago)

we should really go for somewhere with a broken toilet with piss all over the floor though to prepare ourselves. (and a muddy beer garden)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 09:49 (twenty-two years ago)

no that's the last thing we should do ken...

also it needs to be easy for YMOF

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 09:50 (twenty-two years ago)

where's he staying?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 09:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Where's YMOF staying, anyway? Presuming he's thought this far ahead, which on past form is doubtful ;)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 09:51 (twenty-two years ago)

i have just emailled to ask, and offer my couch if he hasn't found anywhere yet, because i'm nice like that innit ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 09:53 (twenty-two years ago)

who/what is YMOF?

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 09:54 (twenty-two years ago)

lady, if you need to ask...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 09:54 (twenty-two years ago)

your mum's old friend?

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 09:55 (twenty-two years ago)

argh damn that phrase

i suggest central london somewhere with a big telly (erm....can't think...ha) but not sure i want to drink tomorrow night yet

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 09:56 (twenty-two years ago)

YMOF = Yer Man O'Farrell = Andrew Farrell

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 09:57 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't want to cast a vote that strongly because i'm only staying for a little while, and going to be a sensible girl and go home and pack and stuff.

actually, i have no idea what YMOF stands for, although i obviously know who you're talking about. i think i might have one of his t-shirts he left at my house last time he was around...

(xpost, aha!)

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 09:58 (twenty-two years ago)

not Yeasty man of fun then?

chris (chris), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 09:58 (twenty-two years ago)

or YMOFROTFLHAO as he will be known at Glasto

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 09:58 (twenty-two years ago)

i like how the word FROT is in the middle of that...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:00 (twenty-two years ago)

"yer man o farrell remember os trail f le head arse o"? like AYSKUBTTOTD?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:01 (twenty-two years ago)

YMOFAOGATMP? (Yer Man O'Farrell Asleep On Grass After Too Much Perry)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:01 (twenty-two years ago)

um, a pub?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

thank you colette, that's just what i was going to say ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:09 (twenty-two years ago)

i think i will be being sensible and packing rather than coming to this.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:09 (twenty-two years ago)

drink first and then pack. it's a surefire winner.

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:10 (twenty-two years ago)

any pub quizzes on wednesday night?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:10 (twenty-two years ago)

mucky pup!

(oh, i think it's not on this week, he's on holiday. damn)

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:11 (twenty-two years ago)

aw.. mucky pup would have had the fitting name too.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:12 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm with colette, couple of swift halfs, a bit of excitement then home for the packing.

not keen on quiz to be honest, rather just a quietish place

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:13 (twenty-two years ago)

mucky pup would have had the fitting name too.

and a lovely dog.

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I think you should FAP at the Angel at St Giles.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:15 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm with colette, couple of swift halfs, a bit of excitement then home for the packing.

that def suggests somewhere central, then. although i prob won't be able to make it anyway as i have to pack at mine and then go round to anna's.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:16 (twenty-two years ago)

that's a nice quiet one. and has dartboard for the ol' arrows

xpost

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:16 (twenty-two years ago)

hmm, you may have a point there matt.

good suggestion.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:17 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm in the same boat as colette & steve - will only be able to come by briefly. and because of this i won't try to sway the decision about location in any way *cough* ISLINGTON! *cough*

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:18 (twenty-two years ago)

If the Angel in St Giles is that Sam Smiths one next to the church betwixt Charing Cross Rd and Covent Garden, then it's a very good suggestion indeed. I too will be peeling off around 9pm to shop/pack.

Alternatively, my friend and yours Carlos and his Casa Electro Novo is playing at LSE and comes highly recommended by, er, me and possibly by Colette as well.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:28 (twenty-two years ago)

oh bollocks: http://www.trustmerecords.com/casaelectronovo.htm works.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:29 (twenty-two years ago)

yes, round the back of centrepoint, just down from denmark street.

is that a decision then?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Would love to attend this as I am getting so excited (sorry it's my first glasto!) but for obvious reasons i can't. have fun & see you lot on thursday for the footie!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:31 (twenty-two years ago)

is the footie deffo on?? yippie!

see you soon pp!

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:33 (twenty-two years ago)

well i'm hoping so!
yay!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

the angel sounds great and it's next door to the porno shop so i can get some videoes.

i'll bring arrows if anyone fancies a darts session (FADS)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

i'll clean your clock at darts ken!

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:42 (twenty-two years ago)

you're on!

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Are non-Glasto people allowed to come to the pub for a quiet post-work drink? Also, what time (if I'm not going to be hounded out by the filthy hippies that you people are)?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:47 (twenty-two years ago)

we'll just make you insanely jealous that you won't get to see muse.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:48 (twenty-two years ago)

but sure.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 10:48 (twenty-two years ago)

No

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 11:18 (twenty-two years ago)

no what?

of course all are welcome :)

i will be there 5ish, as per, probably in the common side (left-hand side as you look at the front of the pub) as that's where the telly is.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 11:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going home to pack! I'll see enough of you stinkers in the field, innit :)

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 11:22 (twenty-two years ago)

oh hullo andrew, do you know what time you'll be getting there? also pete and i took an executive decision and you're staying at his tonight, as he has bigger couch :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 08:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Collette, if you are put off by rain in town then you really are going to have a bad time a Glasto.

well, good point, but it's expected there, and my umbrella fell apart on the way to work and i don't have any of the borrowed waterproofs with me, and...

kate, he looks very different in those pictures. in one he looks like he's in busted, in another he looks like seth green...

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 08:59 (twenty-one years ago)

The bottom pic makes him look like paul weller!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:00 (twenty-one years ago)

(note to self-paul weller lookylikey with silly hair & 'I love Kate St Claire' t-shirt on)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm arriving in Heathrow at 8.15.

I'm sure if you bring back Seth Green/some guy from Busted you get partial credit.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:02 (twenty-one years ago)

(it's a magic T-shirt, only Kate can see it:)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:02 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, well, here's another one, where he's pretending to be John Taylor, so don't get mistaken and bring home a Duran instead!

http://honey.main.jp/delays/photo/200405/08cardiff_2.jpg

Please try very carefully not to muss the hair when extracting him from the net!

(Actually, in the side-photo above, he looks a bit disturbingly like Joe, but I think it's just the nose and the "I can grow a beard, really, I can" facial decoration.)

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:02 (twenty-one years ago)

(it's a magic T-shirt, only Kate can see it:)

No, it's not, Catty saw it, and clearly Pink can see it, too!

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Ach, I've killed a thread of a FAP I can't even go to. Typical!

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

What time does any of you bitches want to dance? I mean when will the pub be filled with hippy chatter?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

when are we playing DDR?

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, I am *trying* to get a "DDR Boy" for me to play *with* but Pink and Colette aren't being very forthcoming!

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

5ish.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Rock on.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

PLUR

Dave B (daveb), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:49 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll get him kate, and i won't even keep him. not my type. luckily i have my own tent so i can just lock him in my tent or something and trick him into getting into the car at the end of the weekend...

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Lock. Tent.

These two words are mutually exclusive.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh no! Oh no! What if someone steals my Dirty Delays Boy? I thought people just got money and shoes and stereos and drugs and crap stolen at Glasto! Actually, maybe if you train him well enough, he can act like a guard dog and keep all your posessions safe and sound for you! Except maybe the drugs, you should probably hide those from him.

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:35 (twenty-one years ago)

ah but you could just peg the zip down which would make it difficult to escape...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:35 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost x2 - No they aren't, which reminds me to get one at lunchtime. (okay, you can't actually lock a tent, but you can make it a bit more obvious to passersby that someone is robbing you).

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:36 (twenty-one years ago)

so what's a DDR boy? i'm guessing that you didn't mean a Dance Dance Revolution boy or Deutsche Democratik Republik (sp) boy. Dirty Delays R...Reverbs?? boy??

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Delay Delay Reverberation

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:38 (twenty-one years ago)

*Dirty* Delay Reverberation!

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:39 (twenty-one years ago)

scally: i think i'll rob that tent
scally2: hold on la', it's got a very small padlock around the zip
scally: s'alright i've got a knife to rip through the side anyway...

(dirty drone rock)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:39 (twenty-one years ago)

no way! the two Ds *HAVE* to be the same word! it's the law!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:41 (twenty-one years ago)

This needs a debate:

a) Does a lock indicate that you have stuff you consider worth nicking, and therefore incite robbers, and once incited, means they have to slash, so if robbed, you have no stuff and a knackered tent?

b) A wise precaution to stop the opportunist thief, as someone going into a tent will not be noticeable - someone slashing a tent will be*.

* - obviously, they could say 'I've lost my key' but this itself is likely to incite a reaction other than shrugging dismissal. Anyway, ILE, take it away (not the tent!)

Dave B (daveb), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Produced by the bloke out of Bark Psychosis they might be, but I can't really think of any universe in which Delays actually count as Dirty Dronerock. Sigh. Aaron is more a Skanky Ho Boy, which is what happens when a DDB discovers melody, hairdye and eyeliner, see also Peter Holmstrom of the Dandy Warhols and, erm, Nicky Wire, but sans Banana Costume.

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:43 (twenty-one years ago)

OMIGOD!!! I just googled for "dirty dronerock boy" to try and find some photos, and discovered that DOOMIE NICKED MY PHRASE FOR HIS POPTONES ARTICLE!!!

http://www.poptones.co.uk/interviews/interview20030609.shtml

Bad Doomie! ::spanks on nose with rolled up newspaper::

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I would imagine that a padlock on the tent can only say you have got stuff worth stealing!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

padlocks=valuable stuff worth stealing, was the way my parents always taught me...never had luggage locks on holiday, for the same reason!

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Ohmigod, I'm just realising how far the meme has spread! OK, not that far, as two of the blogs belong to ILXors, some are in articles I wrote and one turned up on a Dunedin musician's board. Heh.

Skanky Ho Boy did me better:

http://freespace.virgin.net/slampiece.inc/6/images/peterweb.jpg

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:49 (twenty-one years ago)

why aren't ILXers without a ticket banned from entering this thread?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Here are some instructions on how to be a Skanky Ho Boy (pretty similar to DDB, except SHBs think that peroxide is a perfectly acceptible substitute for shampoo, which DDBs shun.)

http://freespace.virgin.net/slampiece.inc/8/slai.html

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Screw you! I might not have a ticket but I'm not even going to the FAP! I am giving INSTRUCTIONS, and very important ones to those ILXors who *are* going to Glasto. About kidnapping SHBs and how they will protect your tent from robbery far more effectively than a mere padlock.

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Padlocks let everyone you know have something worth stealing and are UTTERLY USELESS because it is a tent made of canvas. What thief worth his salt would go "oh, shit, a padlock, they've foiled me there" as opposed to just slashing it with a knife or picking the whole thing up in one piece?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:53 (twenty-one years ago)

There were many slashed tents back in the scally years. Thankfully the fence has kept most of them out recently.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:55 (twenty-one years ago)

yes yes this was all covered on the other thread. more importantly where am i find an air horn?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:56 (twenty-one years ago)

So, you are going to the Angel?

the bellefox, Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Early doors, Mr bellefox.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I won't be coming out tonight - I am home ill, flu or some such. (Also sorry, Sarah, about lunch - don't have your work email here at home, and anyway I've only just got up so it's a bit late to let you know I won't be there anyway.)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 11:13 (twenty-one years ago)

i think ms clarke has spent her lunch hour unsuccessfully welly-hunting. however, i bumped into her and we realised she has the same size feet as meg, so she can borrow them.

sorry to hear yr not feeling well martin :(

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 11:41 (twenty-one years ago)

still undecided about whether to come or not, i'm very tired, but maybe some wine will be just the thing. i'll decide once i've dropped my box of wine off at the house...

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Definitely can't make this now, but have fun you guys and I'll be seeing you all over the weekend.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I would probably like to pop in early doors, tonight.

the bluefox, Wednesday, 23 June 2004 14:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Hope to be there 7:30-ish. May need food somewhere along the line.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

well i wanted to sleep, but seeing that i still don't have the FUCKING KEYS to get home i'll have to wait til 7:30 so that there'll be someone home :( see you guys later.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 14:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Having packed last night I do not need to go home until after the footyball.

Dave B (daveb), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 14:57 (twenty-one years ago)

can't make this as i have all my glasto stuff with me to take to anna's i'll see many of you tomorrow morning, though...

toby (tsg20), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Bah, my flight is back an hour->leaving 8, arriving 9.15, getting to pub christ knows when.
