Well, so far so good! JÀ, JÀ, JÀ!

The only slight downers are that I just started a mild, background cold; and the three-hour whale hunting watching tour was kind of a waste (woohoo, one minke whale, one humpback whale, and a huge island of puffins we couldn´t get too near to eat see.) Otherwise, walking around this city is fantastic.

The record store 12 Tònar is nice... picked up two rare US art/punk records fer cheap, and a few great Icelandic CDs that never quite made it across the VATN! (Morgisun, Dr. Gunni -- the guy who used to lead the grossly underrated rock band Bless -- and his new back up band, and a compilation of Icelandic garagey/hardcore/punk rock from 1981-1982, featuring þeyr, the band that I think Bjork was in before K.U.K.L.)

One of the two vegan restaurants I just had dinner at is great and quite unique.. it´s called First Vegetarian.

The graffiti around town is extremely odd and kinda twee yet kinda spooky (hence an entire pic section of Reykjavik graffiti will be greeting this thread once i get back home)

And the weather today has been great. Around 10C/50sF and clear.

Tomorrow is the big Interior trip day. Now off to more late "night" stuff (or more like late hours.. the sun only set for 45 minutes last night around 1am)

TAKK!

I forgot to mention another great CD I picked up... Icelandic stoner/space rock band Graveslime.. first half is like Kyuss/Superconductor, then gets really subtle and slow later.. they do the best cover of "Chariots Of Fire" (yes, THAT one) ever.

(looking at the credits, looks like the band flew over Tim Green to record this one)

Interior trip? Where are you going? A trip to the Westmann Islands is well worth it. And pony riding. Honestly.

Despite Douglas´s advice to go to Thingvellir instead of the Golden Circle Tour, I did the Golden Circle Tour + Langjöull glacier (second largest glacier in the world) via the Kjöller pass. The peak was certainly being in the middle of the glacier. No winds. It was just above freezing. Tiny flurries. No sounds. At all. I achieved 0dB (minus myself and fellow tourmates talking, and footprints). First time i truly felt I was on another planet. It was completely white immediately around me.. One time the sun barely broke through and the entire scenery turned ice-blue for a moment then went back to pure white when the clouds covered the sun up. one horizon was white on white. Photos will come. Very surreal for a high summer day, to be sure. The rest of the Golden Circle tour (despite sleet on the way back) was great though... I avoided all the tourist trappings and brought my own food and water and all that.

(oh, stence, i´m feeling better, so no worries if it´s still ok to stay with you this thurs.. must have been something i had in london)
