What nicknames and slang terms can you see becoming the main, 'proper' term for the thing they describe in years to come?

I know it's a very tricky question. But there seem to be some walks of life and groups of people among whom it happens more often than others. Politics is particularly prone to this I think - 'Prime Minister' and 'Tory' being examples.

I can see how "diss" could gradually be assimilated into mainstream speech without too many raised eyebrows. There are time when usage is an obvious step too far - "sexing up" the WMD document being an obvious example.
