a) okay, sorry for being so slow with getting this organised!
b) Ned, how many MP3's have you been sent? are you still onboard?
c) send me your songs! it doesn't matter if we're pals or not, maybe it'll be the start of a beautiful friendship
d) maximum song length = 6 and a half minutes, any style
e) closing date = 31st August 2004
f) I will get X number of CDR's made and send one to all contributers and anyone who wants a copy, am always looking for volunteer distributors
g) if you wish to send a song in CD or tape format please email me at my lowly hotmail address and hopefully I will pick it out from the spam. I will themn send you a postal address.
h) if it's an MP3 ask Ned if you can email it to him, please don't send him stuff without asking first.
i) there is no charge.
j) erm, let me know if you want to submit a song or whatever.

Thanks

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 24 June 2004 15:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Can we get another rundown of what is already in? I know one of you had the song from Sarah and I, but I'm paranoid and want to make sure it's still around and will be in the comp.

St. Nicholas (Nick A.), Thursday, 24 June 2004 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I will send Ned an mp3 of Canasta's "Slow Down Chicago" -- or as a certain Bay Area prankster calls it, "Chicago Sold Out."

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 24 June 2004 15:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I have songs from Nick & Sarah, Sundar and Dr.C

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 24 June 2004 15:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I sent my track to Ned!

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 24 June 2004 15:55 (twenty-one years ago)

cool! thanks!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 24 June 2004 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Can it be a snog from a band you are in with non-ILXors?!

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 24 June 2004 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Er, "song" obv., though I would send a snog if poss.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 24 June 2004 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

snogs with non-ilxors are acceptable!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 24 June 2004 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Phew.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 24 June 2004 16:00 (twenty-one years ago)

im still working on mine but due to the over all hatred of iron and wine and folk music im not sure i'll submit it.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Thursday, 24 June 2004 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm probably in.

nabiscothingy, Thursday, 24 June 2004 16:35 (twenty-one years ago)

b) Ned, how many MP3's have you been sent? are you still onboard?

Onboard -- won't be back at my home computer until Sunday so I can't count how many I have, though I've got quite a few now, ten total or so I think?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 24 June 2004 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Cool, that's excellent news! I stupidly forgot that I have a song from Di as well!! (d'oh)

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 24 June 2004 21:50 (twenty-one years ago)

"Prankster"!!!!!

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Thursday, 24 June 2004 21:54 (twenty-one years ago)

is that the name of your song adam?

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 24 June 2004 21:57 (twenty-one years ago)

oooooh, can i do one? i know i dont post here very often but it will force me to start recording again...

zappi (joni), Thursday, 24 June 2004 21:58 (twenty-one years ago)

of course, go nuts.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 24 June 2004 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

woo!

zappi (joni), Thursday, 24 June 2004 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned - I want to send you a better mix of mine, if possible.

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Thursday, 24 June 2004 22:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I may do the same. :>

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 24 June 2004 22:24 (twenty-one years ago)

hey jel did i not send you a track ages ago? i was juz thinking, maybe me and duane could do something newer for this comp.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 24 June 2004 22:44 (twenty-one years ago)

also i am still cool with distributing in new zealand.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 24 June 2004 22:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I sent Ned a link to my site where I had uploaded four mp3s and indicated my small preference for which should go onto the comp. I'd love to get a second opinion from anybody willing to listen to help decide which of them would be best though. They're kinda all over the place genre-wise.

Anyhow, if anybody is willing to help me pick the most worthy of the four, let me know and I'll send a link to the mp3s.

Ned, if you don't still have the link or the songs, send an email or IM so I can send again.

martin m. (mushrush), Thursday, 24 June 2004 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I just sent you an e-mail Jel! I was wondering if I could send you two songs so that both the lead vocal stylings of ILM/ILF poster Theodore Fogelsanger and myself could be heard (I play guitar on both tracks though). The collective length should be close to 6 minutes if not less.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 24 June 2004 23:05 (twenty-one years ago)

velveteen, i love folk music.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 25 June 2004 02:50 (twenty-one years ago)

also i am still cool with distributing in new zealand.
-- The Lady Ms Lurex

Haha, I read this as 'i am still cool when disturbing in New Zealand'.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 25 June 2004 02:54 (twenty-one years ago)

that is going to be the next international telepaths tour slogan

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 25 June 2004 04:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Excellent!!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 25 June 2004 04:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Jel - as i said in my email if there's anything I can do to help let me know.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 25 June 2004 06:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm probably in.
-- nabiscothingy (--...), June 24th, 2004 6:35 PM. (later)

can I reserve my copy, just now?

RJG (RJG), Friday, 25 June 2004 07:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh! Oh! This has been discussed before? I am thick and behind the times. I would like to contribute, but it will have to be via CD cause I don't have one of those fast interweb connections. Who do I email, Jel or Ned? Jel? I'd like to submit my pastoral symphony about "The Lost Rivers Of Clerkenwell". Or maybe the Unfinished Symphony. Or I'll send both and you can pick.

He wants to be me (kate), Friday, 25 June 2004 07:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes velv, ferrovinous folk music must be had!

BTW where do we non-contributors form a queue to order a copy?

OleM (OleM), Friday, 25 June 2004 08:20 (twenty-one years ago)

("order" = "humbly request")

OleM (OleM), Friday, 25 June 2004 08:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, can I send you an mp3?

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 25 June 2004 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

im debating....i want to send in my cover of the beach boys "forever".

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 25 June 2004 09:55 (twenty-one years ago)

or my cover of christopher cross - sailing....

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 25 June 2004 11:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Or my dirty version of Orleans - Dance With Me

Sleep with me
I want to be your partner
Can't you see my cock and balls are throbbing
Sex is calling and my pants are dropping
Sleep with me

Fantasy could never be so giving
I feel free I hope that you are willing
Prop that ass up and get lubed up
Sleep with me

Let me rub your fleshy mounds
Take me deep and I will pound
I can take you if you want to go
Oh oh

Sleep with me
I want to be your partner
Can't you see my cock and balls are throbbing
Sex is calling and my pants are falling
Sleep with me

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 25 June 2004 11:44 (twenty-one years ago)

If I can get off my ass and finish "Hella Meta" (my ilx tribute), then I'm sending that. But more likely I'll just play Gamecube.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 25 June 2004 12:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Nick let's collab hot beats & rhymes!!!1111

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 25 June 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG YOU HAVE TO SUBMIT THAT NICKALISHHH

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 25 June 2004 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG that's a great idea Jordan! (I don't know if I told you on that thread but those mp3s you sent me are TEH SHIT! You are totally hot shit dude.)

I'm afraid of finishing "Hella Meta" because what I've got so far has about a 90% chance of being total ass/5% chance of being meh/5% chance of being hot shit.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 25 June 2004 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Awww, thanks dude!

Out of curiousity, how do you usually record?

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 25 June 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

emails answered!

di, if you and duane wanna do a new song that's cool.

dunno if I will make a song or not.

nickalicious, dude! the gamecube can wait!!!!

jel -- (jel), Friday, 25 June 2004 16:02 (twenty-one years ago)

tonight i will post a link to my tune.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 25 June 2004 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I depends on what game it is!

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 25 June 2004 16:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Jordan - I use a digital (minidisk platform) 4-track. Once in the past I could burn mp3s of the colab track then put that into tracks 1 & 2 (so for good stereo mix) then use the other two tracks for my whatever, but since I no longer have a CD burner on this PC I haven't really had much luck with that.

ha ha and I think it can wait, as I have mostly been playing Smash Bros. & MarioKart with my son.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 25 June 2004 18:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Reading back over that post, I realize that MY 1337 6r4mm4r 0\/\/N5 j00!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 25 June 2004 18:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, those are some good games. You should get the Mega Man Anniversary Collection (if I had a Gamecube, I would be playing that instead of working right now)!

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 25 June 2004 18:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I DIDN"T KNOW THERE WAS ONE OF THOSE!!!!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 25 June 2004 18:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Good lord.

The 'pornographic shockwave movie' Ken C refers to shall actually get its own thread here in a bit. And it is NOT work safe.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

So Ned has 11 songs or so, with the ones that Jel has, shouldn't this be enough to fill a cd? I don't know how many Jel has, but even if he just has like 4 or 5, that should be enough, shouldn't it?

eat fudge banana swirl (Nick A.), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 13:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Are these songs MEANT to be bad? How do I send mine in? I am too lazy to read the rest of the thread.

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

If you are creating an mp3 to contribute, send it to me. If you are submitting a CDR or tape, send to Jel.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I spot a gap in the pornography market, work safe porn.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay, I'm having trouble with my 4-track now, I'm just going to send y'all a ridiculously old track of mine I've already got converted to mp3 (from like '01 ha ha). I'll wait 'til later on today (when it's closer to evening time there) to email it to the Ned. Be afraid.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Er, wait, I found a folder with songs from '02! ha ha I'm pathetic

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

If I had some of the stuff I recorded back in the day on mp3, I would've considered sending something from like '97 (it's like the last good solo shit I ever did)!

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 13:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Are these songs MEANT to be bad?

Haha, I think we have a title for the album.

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 13:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay then, just leave it with the one I've sent, called Glisten!

mei (mei), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

One song per person, please!

Noise dudes?

I have stuff from The Saint & McLusky; Kate; Dr C; Di & Duane; Anthony; Sundar; and me!

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 16:11 (twenty-one years ago)

So isn't that like 18 or 19 songs already? HOW WILL ALL THE ROCK FIT ON ONE CD? ARE WE DOING A DOUBLE ALBUM OR A LAME MP3 CD?

eat fudge banana swirl (Nick A.), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 16:11 (twenty-one years ago)

these have to be ROCK OH NO

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 16:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Ordinary CD! Err, hopefully it'll fit on an 80 minute CD! I think some of the songs I've gotten are less than 3 and a hlf minutes...

People, make short songs, please.

PANIC!!

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I am waiting till I'm done housesitting so I can finish up the track I fully intend to submit.

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 16:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess I could do a new short song...

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Jel, if there are too many to fit, bump the worst ones! (I'd also be inclined to bump any from non-regulars, if there were any such, in favour of regulars.)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 16:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, well. Mine is probably not going to make the cut then. Maybe I will sharpen up my production skills for the next comp.

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 16:54 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, Martin, I don't think I could do that! :(

Let's just wait and see how many songs we get...I'll be totally hot on the cut-off date this time.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, Ned, could you have a look at the song lengths of the tracks you've gotten so far? I'll do the same! Cheers!

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 16:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Can do, sir.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 16:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Or you could just bump the latest ones.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 17:10 (twenty-one years ago)

NA/Sarah = 2:37
Sundar = 10:44 (er, dude do you have anything shorter? or we'll see what we can do...)
Kate = 2:48
Dr C = 3:16
Me = 4:10
Anthony's is on a tape, but I'm pretty sure it's less than 4 mins.
Di = 2:36

so, average times aren't looking too bad on this showing!

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 17:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Dammit, beat to the shortest song by 1 measly second.

eat fudge banana swirl (Nick A.), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 17:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Mine's probably about 6 minutes, I think? Let me know if you want something shorter, Ned.

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

The three songs I sent are this long:

Representation: 1:43
Juliana: 1:09
Would've: 4:03

Including any of them is fine with me, so I can definitely qualify as the shortest song on the comp if need be. Shit, if you put both Representation and Juliana on there, aside from making me really happy, I'd have the shortest two songs.

(Short songs = story of my life... I have a recording of a live show with one of my old bands. It's a one hour set, and it's 25 songs including stage banter and a few minutes where I have to change a string because my lixx were too hot.)

martin m. (mushrush), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

is there time to send a song still?

Chupa-Cabras (vicc13), Thursday, 19 August 2004 00:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I think so. But where have ya been, Vic? ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 19 August 2004 00:26 (twenty-one years ago)

ive been in the read-only mode on ilx whats the name i forgot now leering, lurkin but ive been sort of keepin up still

p.s. there are things i can send now but probably the best one ive done lately is still in my friends computer and may take a couple of days to get it

Chupa-Cabras (vicc13), Thursday, 19 August 2004 00:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay, times -- including Martin's longest song (say) plus the eleven others I now have gives a total of 45 minutes on the nose (assuming no breaks between the songs). Jel's total amount on his end is around 28 minutes or so. This can all fit on an 80-minute CD, though we're pushing it a bit. There's Adam's promised contribution, Vic is interested and I wouldn't mind contributing a recorded "Hi, I'm Ned Raggett and welcome to..." introduction. ;-) But I think we're going to have to cut off submissions now if we're going to keep it at one disc.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 19 August 2004 01:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I should note the 45 minutes includes the contribution from 'Clonefeed,' but I need whoever that is to speak up. Otherwise I'm going to suggest bumping it.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 19 August 2004 01:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm giving the mix I now have a listen. Great stuff!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 19 August 2004 01:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Martin, I vote for "Would've." It's a beaut.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 19 August 2004 01:37 (twenty-one years ago)

:( aww, i nearly finished mine...

zappi (joni), Thursday, 19 August 2004 01:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, work on it anyway, Zappi, we'll see what's up. I note Jel has asked Sundar to consider an edit, so there could yet be room.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 19 August 2004 01:51 (twenty-one years ago)

s'ok, at least its forced me into actually doing something for once!

zappi (joni), Thursday, 19 August 2004 01:54 (twenty-one years ago)

so was that a yay a nay or neither?

Chupa-Cabras (vicc13), Thursday, 19 August 2004 01:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Vic, I say work on selecting something -- the final decision will be Jel's, but it can't hurt to have something ready.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 19 August 2004 05:02 (twenty-one years ago)

yes chupa!!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Martin, I vote for "Would've." It's a beaut.

That's absolutely fine by me. Like I said, I couldn't decide. "Would've" is hands down the best recorded of the bunch because it's the most recent and was done with more experience on much better equipment. Like, my Strat came out sounding the exact way I intended it to for once. It also has an army of synth strings in it, so there's that.

martin m. (mushrush), Thursday, 19 August 2004 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm Clonefeed!

latebloomer (latebloomer), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 04:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm Flatworm!

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 04:43 (twenty-one years ago)

But if it's too late...s'alright I suppose.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 04:43 (twenty-one years ago)

x-post

latebloomer (latebloomer), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 04:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I should note the 45 minutes includes the contribution from 'Clonefeed,' but I need whoever that is to speak up. Otherwise I'm going to suggest bumping it.
-- Ned Raggett (ne...), August 19th, 2004.

sorry about that, i missed this thread for some reason. is it too late to keep it? if so that's fine, but just letting ya know i'm clonefeed.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 04:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay, I'm very excited.

x j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 04:49 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks a whole bunch, smartypants.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 04:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, no doubtings you have Byzantum song.

You have of course Dominaktor song too? Perhaps you need to check pile for it. I give you identifiers. It is called "Grimly Drunk on the Frozen Evil of Necrolust". Also, did you touch CD-r with bare hands? Please to be careful as we pissed on it. There may also be traces of blood due to accident in studio. Toxic it may be, do not hurt yourself my friend.

Janne Karlsson, Tuesday, 31 August 2004 05:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Be careful, Ned!

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 05:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, I sent you a MP3 yesterday. It's 4:25 in length. Oi....
