Berets

i want to buy a new beret, because the beret that i do have is decrepid, and unsuitable for public appearance. but, i can't seem to find a decent beret at all

so, this is the thread where you, the fashionable people of ilx, tell me, the guy with no beret, where, i might find a banging beret (ideally, it should be both effete and militant at the same time, in a umbrellas of cherbourg starring underground resistance kind of way)

ideally, this wonderful shop would be in london town, but it could be elsewhere, we could then plot together a network of the beret shops across the world, perhaps jon could put it into that geodatabase thing he was talking about, so a 3d map could be constructed

or, alternatively, we could just post pictures of berets.

which colours do you think are best, that is also important...

A beret will be cheapest in the local suppliers of farmers' needs in a small country town in France. However...

www.hats-online.com has proper basque berets for $23-ish.

Maroon for sombre occasions and red for joie de vivre

I only ever wear black ones. It's the goth in me. Though I once stretched as far as a black one with leopard trim. I heart berets. but this is not the time of year for them.

Someone I know wears a horrid brown one (more horrid because of the wearers personality), they call it a "berr-it" though, that's wrong right, I say it like Prince

I have never worn a beret. But I don't wear hats fullstop; my head is large.

Acording to the beret museum proper berets are only black.

i was thinking black anyway, i'm not sure that i could carry off other colours of beret, or whether i'd even want to try

You belong in the land of darkness, otherwise known
as one of the worlds in which I dwell. All here
is beauty inspired by tragedy and great sorrow.
Write or go through other creative outlets to
express the anguish you may be feeling, and
never let anyone tell you that you are just
being 'weepy' or full of 'teenage angst'(if
you're a teenager.If not, then they really
should be punished for calling you one. They
probably are trying to insult your
maturity...fools.)and always remain yourself,
dark and amazing. Never change.

You belong somewhere out in the world, exploring
and learning and spreading the knowledge that
you find. When you love, that love will join
you in your quest and believe as you do in a
world of spiritual energy that is stronger than
anything humanity could normally even conceive,
although you may be able to. Council those you
encounter, give them your wisdom, and stay true
to yourself.
