...and am counting down the days to when we ride down the Strip liistening to Donna Summer's "Sunset People" at full volume!!

=)

Vic (Vic), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 09:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Di! you should try and get yourself invited to The Viper Room (it's surprisingly small, though)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 11:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think he wears his hat anymore.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 11:45 (twenty-one years ago)

We'll find him and MAKE him wear the hat!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Or you could maybe get him to just give it to Di if he isn't using it or anything and then you could have a jam or ask him to reform the Snakepit or something

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 11:54 (twenty-one years ago)

ROXX

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha SHIT my sister's going to be in LA around this time I think! Di do you like Johnny Depp?

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

if i can't steal the hat, i'll just steal a les paul instead. mark i can't make it to london, the money only goes so far. i like johnny depp okay, is he yr sister andrew?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:05 (twenty-one years ago)

But Di, you've seen how much money a topless lad in the antipodes manages to get together for hookers, drugz and a shiny new lightbox - have you considered the paypal alley yourself?

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:11 (twenty-one years ago)

are you calling me a hooker?

The Lady Ms Pretty Woman (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:11 (twenty-one years ago)

is mark offering to paypal di to london?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish I'd xposted that after Di's, sort of. Sort of not, too. Di my sister wants to track JD down at the Viper Room, I think.

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:14 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha she should get in touch with daniel mancini, according to malcolm.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Well he looks a BIT like him I guess

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:21 (twenty-one years ago)

nah malcolm reckoned dan could get me into the viper room. i was like shit i don't even know this guy, and he um married celia, do i WANNA meet him?>???

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:34 (twenty-one years ago)

He's nice, actually! I only met him twice or so, tho

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm listening to "Sunset People" now. I think sticking all of side four of 'Bad Girls' on a tape for cruising w/Vic is a good idea.

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:42 (twenty-one years ago)

its funny, you know, i don't even know who DM is or what he does, except that he married celia and djed at heff's birthday party. i think i'd rather meet ilx celebrities than famous people, as i mentioned to vic earlier tonight.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:44 (twenty-one years ago)

hey vic, my flatmate thinks you are a foxy thang.

seconded the side four of bad girls thing!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:45 (twenty-one years ago)

di, if i'm out there too will you stalk axl with me? it'll be easy. he lives in a big house in malibu and never goes outside.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

you're thinking of richey manic

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 14:14 (twenty-one years ago)

hey di, you're not too cool to come hang out with me in tucson are ya?

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 14:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh are you going to stop in Auckland at all? Eh?

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

No fair. I wanna meet Di. I've actually had a weird desire to go to L.A. lately.

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

What's in AUCKLAND, then? Besides you and Elizabeth kicking ass at arcade games. Oh wait that's reason enough.

H II, you must meet Di! She is utterly spiff.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

There's beer

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 14:21 (twenty-one years ago)

That's true! And good beer at that.

(There are in fact many reasons to visit Auckland and wassail.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Are SPARKS planning any shows around then?

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

As yet, no. They seem to do their LA shows almost out of nowhere, though.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

ill be there!!!

Sir Chaki McBeer III (chaki), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

AW YEAH

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

di, if i'm out there too will you stalk axl with me? it'll be easy. he lives in a big house in malibu and never goes outside.

His house is just off of Latigo Canyon Rd. There's a really good fish and chips biker roadhouse nearby

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I sense a theme for the FAP!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

how long does the boat to LA take? I should just about make it!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Remember to go through the canal and not via Tierra del Fuego, good sir!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm up for whatever as per usual!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 16:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I have two hours free on October 17th. Else, all booked up.

deanomgwtf!!!p%3Fmsgid%3D4581997 (deangulberry), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 17:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I wanna, and I will help you get that hat, by hook or by crook.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

dude this is guna be so much fun

Sir Chaki McBeer III (chaki), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 17:34 (twenty-one years ago)

If I went to L.A. I'd insist on doing coke off of the brim of Slash's hat.

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 18:52 (twenty-one years ago)

My ex-gf and I literally ran into slash at a posh hotel bar called Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica. She was Spanish and had never heard of GnR and was kind of grossed out at having come into contact with his hair.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 18:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd love to touch Slash's hair.

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 19:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it just LA? Are you road tripping? Say, to Portland?

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 19:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Tons of Cahuenga corridor hipster action tomorrow night. Tokio, Beauty Bar, and Star Shoes are all having parties.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 21:23 (twenty-one years ago)

that sounds fun

chaki in charge (chaki), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 21:25 (twenty-one years ago)

After high Greek camp, dancing away might prove our salvation.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 21:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Have fun sexy L.A. people. I like the word, "Cahuenga."

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 21:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Di has arrived and is currently bathing herself (in milk, yes). I drove her to Erehwon on the way here to pick up REAL margarine (oxymoron?).

Oh wow, the PCH. Well now...maybe I can postpone insignificant little daily habits like "work" after all. Arthur, if you do decide to go, could Di and I bum a ride off of you (if Ned's hair doesn't take up all the room) ? i'm just trying to save some ga$ ca$h here.

Middle Eastern ? There's this one really cool Moroccan place on Sunset next to the Harmony & Gold theatre that I've been wanting to explore for sometime, but it looks SHI SHI WHAT 2 DO

Otherwise, to keep it kinda in the local Beverly Center: Noura Cafe
Mighty Mediterranean near the Beverly Center.

Located across the street from such swank, urban eateries as Ago and Lucques lies a culinary holdover from the ?70s wave of Middle Eastern immigration. The exterior is deceptively simple and unassuming, but inside, the restaurant offers a vibrant display of Mediterranean décor. The menu offers a potent mix of Lebanese, Turkish and Greek delicacies that sooth the hungry heart. The broiled kebabs (lamb, chicken, sirloin) are the main attractions, but the falafels and salads are just as tasty. Assorted baklavas and smoothies are available for dessert. All this can be enjoyed in one of four segmented dining areas strewn with vines, plants and fountains. Ambient Arabic and Turkish music plays softly over the sounds of hushed conversations. Some nights have private parties scheduled so call ahead just in case. All in all, the savory dishes and modest prices make this establishment worth making into a ritual. -- Walter Fernandez, Jr. (Photo: Madeline Martell)

Eat A Pita
Falafels in the heart of Fairfax.

Steps from Fairfax High School (yep, the alma mater of celebs like Anthony Kiedis of Red Hot Chili Peppers) and the pedestrian-packed corridor of shops centered around Canter's Deli to the south, Eat A Pita is one of those LA institutions that everyone knows about, whether they've actually eaten a pita there or not. Part of the reason is surely its copious use of plant life. On a street made mostly of concrete and brick, Eat A Pita is a little oxygen-rich gazebo of pure green. Folks also notice the pita palace simply because it looks like it has been there for decades, serving its famous falafels and equally popular carrot juice. With a vintage-looking sign that boasts "11AM-10PM every day of the year," Eat A Pita draws not only diners who dig Middle Eastern eats but people who like to come and linger on the pretty patio, holidays included. Should you bring your laptop, be sure to eat that tahini-slathered goodie to the side of your keyboard, not over it.

Middle Eastern

Tokio is so sceney; never been. Star shoes can be fun though. As my pad is just 3 blocks from "the Corridor" ("the New Strip" - LA Times), if someone wants to bring an insignificant other back to my place, you are welcome to do so. But despite the holiday week, there are no discounts.

Regular shacking up rates will still apply.

Vic (Vic), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 23:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Vic, for safety's sake, mail me the link on the theatre info again. We should probably try and get the tickets early on in the afternoon!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 23:29 (twenty-one years ago)

You could also just go to farmer's market, then everyone can eat whatever they desire! There's also the bar, but it might be cold, but there are heaters.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 23:32 (twenty-one years ago)

That's actually a really good idea! Has Di been there yet?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 23:32 (twenty-one years ago)

the beach, bloody mary's and middle eastern food sound excellent. as for dancing tomorrow night, we'll see if i feel up to it. don't wanna burn myself out too early!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 00:32 (twenty-one years ago)

MORE PICTURES PLEASE!

bulbs (bulbs), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 00:34 (twenty-one years ago)

lolita corpus (lolitacorpus), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 00:41 (twenty-one years ago)

pictures when i get back to nz.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 00:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, yeah, Farmer's Market! Good idea. Where's the movie, anyway? Is it at the Grove? We could just walk over then. And experience this fake snow I've been hearing so much about.

I'll be at Amoeba around 11:30.

Hot Bitch with an Elecric Guitarthur (Arthur), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 05:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Where's the movie, anyway? Is it at the Grove?

Beverly 13 I think.

Okay, heads up for folks:

Vic, Di, Arthur and I gather at Amoeba late morning, then some lunch, swing by the theater to get the tickets out of the way, and then off to the beach for the afternoon. We'll call around to folks around 3 pm or the like to catch everyone up as we can. Farmer's Market does sound really good, how does 5:30 sound as a general arrival time? Any place where we should try to meet up? Again, we're aiming for the 8 pm showing of _Oliver Stone's Manly Man Epic_.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 05:56 (twenty-one years ago)

This is for Wednesday, right? Any plans for Friday or Saturday?

nickn (nickn), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 07:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, upthread is the talk about karaoke and then seeing Arthur DJ at Akbar for Friday, can't make those myself due to work and dinner with a friend. Saturday and Sunday right now are open and I know Di had some specific ideas about things to do, so that will yet suggest itself.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 13:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Friday's plan:

Meet at Toi for Thai food at 7pm
THEN Karaoke at the Smog Cutter in Silverlake

Email me for my phone #, or email me at radiofreealbemuth @ gmail.com
for Friday shenanigans

Orbit (Orbit), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

About off work and off to the local station, so see everyone soon...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Paging Di:
You need to email me a phone number so I can find you on Friday.
Also, am I picking you up or is transporation taken care of?

Orbit (Orbit), Thursday, 25 November 2004 01:51 (twenty-one years ago)

This sounds like so much fun. *sniff*

Miss Misery (thatgirl), Thursday, 25 November 2004 08:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Sam this is why you *must* come to visit!!!

Orbit (Orbit), Thursday, 25 November 2004 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Car rentals aren't too pricey. My bro and I were just discussing a road trip west today whilst sneaking away for a square (him not me).

Miss Misery (thatgirl), Friday, 26 November 2004 01:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I have a really comfy sectional couch that sleeps two. The beach is across the street.

The house has recently been cited by city inspectors for its lack of Sam.

Orbit (Orbit), Friday, 26 November 2004 18:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Tonight's (Friday) details:

7pm meet at Toi
Toi's website: http://www.toirockinthaifood.com/sunset/

Hollywood (kinda near Guitar Center)

From there we'll go to Smog Cutter in Silverlake
Smog cutter details: http://www.digitalcity.com/losangeles/entertainment/venue.adp?sbid=100063752

Smog Cutter
864 N Virgil Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90029
323-660-4626

My guess is we'll be at Smog Cutter about 9ish. I'll be wearing black pants and shirt with a green suede vest. If anyone else wants my cell # email me before about 5pm at radiofreealbemuth @ gmail.com

WOO-HOO!

Di, Friday, 26 November 2004 19:29 (twenty-one years ago)

that was not me, it was VIC being his charming self. i will be at toi at 7pm! and my flu is all but gone so i will be able to karaoke very hearty.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 26 November 2004 19:32 (twenty-one years ago)

OOOHHH VIC BAY-BEE!

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 27 November 2004 00:38 (twenty-one years ago)

in discission with the locals, we'll actually end up karaoking at Cosmo's on 1st St. downtown (near Little Tokyo) because I've been informed that Smog Cutter is being invaded by suburbanites who've discovered it. To preserve the dive-L.A. experience, we've opted for Cosmo's. Sorry for the late notice.

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 27 November 2004 01:00 (twenty-one years ago)

hey bitchezzz, we are having killer fun, we monopolised the karaoke machine and orbit did a fantastic version of white rabbit, vic's sexy hott rendition of "mickey" made me slide right off my barstool. oh yeahhh. now we are off to akbar and i have broken out the hotpants. oh. yes.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 27 November 2004 07:25 (twenty-one years ago)

And I chickened out on doing "Walk On the Wild Side," but Orbit's friend Dave saved the day.

nickn (nickn), Saturday, 27 November 2004 07:27 (twenty-one years ago)
