Another Video Game Thread: Has anybody played "Morrowind"?

I recently acquired a copy of this, and the game looks intriguing, if really addictive and intimidating. Has anybody had much experience with the game?

is it worth it?

Yes, it's worth it. I've beaten it. Really fun and addictive. Kinda like a single player Everquest, as in it kinda plays like a MMORPG but you're all alone in the world. Any more questions, let me know.

Morrowind is great fun but travelling around the gameworld sucks. Sucks sucks sucks. I highly recommend cheating and making yourself a super-speedy ring or something early in the game.

Get it on PC not Xbox, for the love of god.

Also download the millions of mods that improve the models etc.

Also check out the greatest Morrowinf thread ever.

i played this for a little bit, and i could see that it had tons of depth and imagination, but the basic walk-around-pick-shit-up stuff was so draggy and tedious i couldn't get into it (also my computer at the time couldn't really handle it)

also, i like the fact that nude skin mods have become a sizable portion of the game-modding community. for example, there's a page or three out there that do nothing but list links to where you can get mods to get your characters nekkid.

all female, of course, but give it time...

Is the cover a deliberate homage to the old "Ultimate: Play The Game" covers?

great music, too. one of the rare times that the music alone tells you that you're playing something different.

One of the best games I've ever played.

Essentially the idea is to run around doing jobs ad nauseam, but it happens within such a rich, lush, enormous world that the relative mundanity of the tasks doesn't really matter. You can lose yourself for hours just exploring coastlines, and islands, and dungeons, and forests, and mires, and castles, and huge huge cities, each with its own unique character. You can be on your way to complete one task, when you bump into someone on the road who wants you to lead them to the nearest town. You can walk past a door leading to a mine full of tunnels and treasure. In a very real sense, you can do just about anything you like, whenever you like.

I've already given this game something like 100 hours [it's very easy to totally lose count of time and forget you're playing], and there's still loads more to do. I haven't even finished the main quest yet.

If you can, get the Game of the Year edition, which includes two expansions that double the amount of stuff you can do, and irons out a few bugs.
