Is it bad to feel pissed off when everybody wants a piece of you and your time?

Can't you see I'm trying to do something? Yes I know I know but I never actually ask anything of you, do I? What makes you think I even want to? I just don't have the guts to say 'no'. For fuck's sake...

I read it as being about micro-management. Perhaps I should work less.

It's just... phone call from drunk girlfriend who never normally wants to talk for more than 2 words on the phone, instant message from so and so, email from some guy I don't know, mum asking if she can look out of my window cos the others aren't good enough, best mate who never actually quite asked me to be his best man and keeps changing his mind what he wants to do for his stag and every new idea is MORE EXPENSIVE and I AM TRYING TO WRITE, I HAVE NOT HAD TIME TO WATCH A FILM OR GO FOR A PINT IN WEEKS I JUST WANT TO CRY NOW AND GO TO SLEEP K THX BYE.

A very good friend of mine has sometimes expressed some frustration over this, and as said person is one of the most generous people I know, I can appreciate how the situation can get out of hand.

Also I am skint and underpaid and stuff and people should really be about to give me £1,500 for various services rendered.

PS Ned I love you and will email you stuff in two days.

I'm glad to be busy for once. I'm going to dinner with gygax. Will I get to first base?

I had an unexpected breakdown moment of this sort recently, it made me realize I never, ever want to be a rockstar. I had just finished playing this outdoor jazz gig and all I wanted to do was grab some food from one of the vendors before they finished packing up, break down my drums, drive 75 miles home and go to bed but my friends wanted to talk and hang out and one has this girlfriend who just won't stop talking and she closes her eyes when she does it all up in your face and my mom insisted I give her a ride to her car that she didn't know where she parked so she could give me two-week old leftovers and there was this semi-retarded guy wearing both jean-shorts and jeans who was VERY INSISTENT that I give him one of my drumsticks out of the goodness of my heart. Yeah.

X-post.

One time I was so used up by the demands/needs of other people that I stopped answering the phone for two weeks. It pissed off a bunch of people, my parents in particular, but just about everyone figured out that they didn't have an inalienable right to trespass on my time and generosity.

The ignore button is on your cell phone for a reason, and you owe yourself at least as much as you owe everyone else.

Laura E (laurae55), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 23:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought this was about work too. The same applies. I don't want to do things, I don't have time to do things, to be honest I don't know how to do some things. I need to get better at saying NO. And quickly, because some people think no reply means "sure thing!"

So I support, or possibly feel, you.
