I dunno. I saw one of them communes once. It didn't look very clean.

A close friend of mine caught the herp at some pagan festival at a hippy commune in Tennessee once. I think another friend of mine water-birthed her son at the same commune, but with much less ew results.

I knew alot of kids that grew up in various Northern Calif communes... some quite friendly and benign, others creepy and cult-like. Synanon sort of took over the Tomales Bay area for awhile, but I don't think children lived there.

I like the scene in "Easy Rider" where Billy the Kid badmouths the hippy commune, and Captain America says, coldly: "We're eating their food, man..."
