Cycling down a really big hill if it means cycling all the way up again - C/D?

My bike computer clocked me near 50km/h on the way down, but the hike back up was hell. I'm really dizzy after doing this twice, and i'm asking myself if the rush was really worth it. Experiences?

UPHILLS are good for you.

just stand up out of the saddle and make the uphill face.

depends on the hill. if it's a long hill with a gradual slope uphill but a steep downhill, classic. if it's a hill that's so steep i slow down until i am going so slow i almost fall over, and then come to a stop and walk my bike (we have those, i think they're really steep and i'm really pathetic), totally dud.

This isn't much different from hiking. A lot of times theres a downturn that makes you wonder who's sad idea of a joke is this.

classic. especially that heartstopping moment when you fear your brakes may not work and you'll end up going splat at high speed, then the relief when they do.

Downhill in the rain: even better classic b/c of the adrenalin rush of lessened brake power.
Uphill: also classic: just think of how impressive your quads will be and how with even more hill climbing all the small hills become mere bumps in the road. And pretend the lung-burning feels good (but maybe not *that* good). Yeah, always make uphill face (xpost).

best hill rush in London = highgate west hill and crystal palace. both an absolute nightmare on the way back up tho..

Shooter's Hill in Richmond Park is one big bend that gets sharper as you approach the bottom. It's also a favourite hangout for deer. Last time I went down there my handlebars started shaking big time - I'm going slower next time.

Speed wobbles on fast descents can be scary as hell. Been about 50mph on tarmac and that was plenty fast enough for me. Gimme a nice swoopy off-road downhill anytime.
