at one job, i never eat until about 2pm. i'm just not hungry until then. at this job, i'm starving, and have been since 11:30?

same breakfast, same start time.

i figure it's just the atmosphere here that makes people march blindly until their next scheduled break. have you ever experienced this?

so distract me until i can escape at 1. what are you going to have for lunch? if you could have anything in the world for lunch, what would it be?

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I just had lunch. It involved a baguette, tuna, sun-dried tomato and rocket.

Ideal lunch? I could kill a decent thin-base pizza Margarita.

robster (robster), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:32 (twenty-one years ago)

i think a lot about what im going to have for lunch. i try and have late lunches too so by the time i come back, theres only a few hours left til its home time.

dickvandyke (dickvandyke), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I just had a Tesco 'Value' pork pie, I bought reduced in the supermarket last night. It was down to 24p.

From 30p. This is somehow not a comforting though, in the cold light of day.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I could tell you some stories dude

Porkpie (porkpie), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:51 (twenty-one years ago)

mmm. pizza would be really good.

DvD, i'm normally the same way. i love coming back from lunch to only have an hour or two left of the day. in chicago i used to wait for the au bon pain to start its 'bake sale' of half-price bagels at 2:30 before getting my lunch. my boss thought i was insane, but it was something to look forward to, and such a nice thing to have a short afternoon.

since i'm at my other job today, i'll probably have a baguette with cheese, tomato and avocado. mmmm. maybe that's why i'm so hungry already?

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:54 (twenty-one years ago)

if i can i would have a Taco Bell for lunch :(

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:55 (twenty-one years ago)

mmmmm. bean burrito. and nachos on the side. mmmmmmmmmmmm.

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:56 (twenty-one years ago)

and if this stupid work place had an oven or a hob for frying? sainsbury's economy sausages are like 19p for 8 of them big fat weiners.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:56 (twenty-one years ago)

(sorry colette that's probably not your cup of tea though :) )

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a roll with beef, tomato and lettuce as part of my all new "being skint and making your own lunch" regime. It was unsatisfying. I might have to scoff my afternoon apple a bit early :-(

Come pay day I'm having some Hot Food, in a PUB, with BEER.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

ken, when did your obsession with taco bell start?

(i remember when i was in high school, there was a taco bell somewhere in london. i actually have a tshirt from there-- it was an inside joke. i assume it closed?)

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

god i want a burrito :(( gonna go to sainsbury's for hunting in a bit.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i had one when i was in new york, and it was excelsior!

yeah apparently there was one in london, but it got closed (due to legal reasons or something?!?)

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a quiche and salad. It was OK, but a bit raw oniony. My ideal lunch would be a giant, hot cornish pasty. For some reason I'm craving carbs at the moment.

Madchen (Madchen), Thursday, 19 August 2004 11:06 (twenty-one years ago)

once upon a time...

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 19 August 2004 11:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I made Sarah take me for burritos in Great Barrington - we went back to the same place a couple of times as they were SO PERFECT. I miss them.

I've actually lost a couple of pounds lately and am desperate to eat LOTS OF LARDY FOOD. So I'm struggling with my inner demons to keep up this diet for another 2 weeks, but heavens, this thread isn't helping!

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 19 August 2004 11:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Can we call you Barrington?

Madchen (Madchen), Thursday, 19 August 2004 11:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Shirley.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 19 August 2004 11:12 (twenty-one years ago)

i never knew there was a taco bell in london. cant believe i missed it.

dickvandyke (dickvandyke), Thursday, 19 August 2004 11:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I have to take my lunch at 12 which is really too early esp as I rarely skip breakfast. Today I had a cream cheese and cucumber bagel with paprika, some Walkers Lites (yeah right) and an apple. I also had several chocolate biscuits at the dreaded weekly coffee morning, so basically I'm a lardtub.

My ideal lunch would probably involve potato salad.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 19 August 2004 11:15 (twenty-one years ago)

blue courgette soup. mmmmm.

emsk, Thursday, 19 August 2004 11:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Blue??

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 19 August 2004 11:17 (twenty-one years ago)

GM courgette

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

heh! no, the courgettes are organic ones from the box they send us every week - we were slowly acquiring the european courgette mountain in our fridge so i made soup out of them with stilton, hence the blue (i was going to put food colouring in it to make it more blue but it didn't need it...). i've never heard of it before but it's amazing. so amazing i brought it to work with me today. damn, why are there so many people in the bloody kitchen?

emsk, Thursday, 19 August 2004 11:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I am now sucking a boiled sweet which one of my colleagues brought back from Spain. It tastes like long, hot car journeys.

Madchen (Madchen), Thursday, 19 August 2004 11:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I went to the pub, had a fantastic sausage baguette with two sausages and onions, for £3.25, and a pint and a half of London Pride. mmmmn

Vicky (Vicky), Thursday, 19 August 2004 12:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I really expected to see a link to the giant burger thread by now.

My stomaoh is knockin' hard for a snack right now.

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 19 August 2004 12:19 (twenty-one years ago)

haha oops i was to busy talking about being on the pull (haha wtf me?) to get lunch!!! although the mcD breakfast from 10:30 still holding.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 12:25 (twenty-one years ago)

i had my baguette and crisps and am now a very happy girl!

dave, can you go to the shop and get an ice cream or something?

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 19 August 2004 12:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh god I want an ice cream, but I have lost 3 POUNDS and I can't stop now!

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 19 August 2004 12:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, if I weren't so lazy I could walk down the hall and buy a bagel or something. I guess I just like to complain...

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 19 August 2004 12:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a bagel with BOAR SALAMI in it today, for which I think I *still* owe Liz :x a pint.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 19 August 2004 12:28 (twenty-one years ago)

mark, can't you have some frozen yogurt or something like that?

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 19 August 2004 12:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Jacket potatoes are my new latest "thing".

Tonight I am going to have APPLE CRUMBLE.

da da da da, Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Didn't frozen yoghurt disappear in 1989?

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:07 (twenty-one years ago)

hey you leave those things in the fridge for too long, they're gonna get chucked in the bin

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:10 (twenty-one years ago)

My last job = we all had lunch exactly at noon, for thirty minutes. I was always hungry by then and it was a big deal, since it was our only real break. The only options were take a lunch or eat at the horrid cafeteria.

Now = lunch time and length is very flexible and there are lots of interesting places around. I've been having good food all week though (sushi, grilled tuna steak sandwich, subs, etc.) so for some reason I decided to punish myself today with a pb&j sandwich from home, made with icky reduced fat peanut butter.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

So what should I eat today for lunch? I want something kind of healthy because I haven't been eating right lately .. but it needs to be something I can take out.. And since I'm impatient, it probably needs to be prepackaged too. Please don't suggest a salad. Salad bars freak me out, and prepackaged salads always have bean sprouts in them for some reason.

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:14 (twenty-one years ago)

it's still everywhere in america, but i won't eat it because i only like real ice cream, so hadn't noticed if they have it here or not.

xpost-- jordan, that sounds like a reward! except the lowfat pb. lowfat anything = ick

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I've been having an international sammich variety appreciation week here. So far this week, I've had a gyro, an italian sub, and a grilled cuban sammich. I'm not sure what to have today.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a toasted ciabatta: parma ham, mozzerella, roasted peppers, rocket. Yum.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I want a doner kebab. They don't have them here though. (I know, I know.)

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

BLT & Bloody Mary at the Broome Street coming up 12:30PM EST, NYC, USA.

sexyDancer, Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a bagel (toasted poppyseed, tomato, cream cheese) and I'm already hungry again. And slightly queasy.

sexyDancer, I am jealous, of the bloody mary at least.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

and by "coming up", you mean anticipating, right? You didn't have the BLT & Bloody Mary for breakfast, then?

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:41 (twenty-one years ago)

well it's still a ways off from 12:30 here.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost: I've done it before, but today work is in the way of the Natural Order of Things.

sexyDancer, Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I want your job, dude.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)
