Americans! Dictate my food consumption!

I'm in the USA for a couple of days next month, and will probably be the last time I make it up into that part of the country (in this job, anyway).

What culinary delights should I make sure I don't miss out on?

I'll be in Newburyport, MA, which is right up by the NH border. I've pretty much knocked the arse out of the seafood round there, and know the joy of a Reubens for lunch. Is there anything else I should really make a point of making sure I eat?

I'm still smarting over being in Lynchburg, VA and not managing to eat a Cheesey Western - our host only told us about it after dinner, and the hotel we were in was opposite The Home Of The Cheesey Western.

Also feel free to recommend any obscure MA/NH beers to look out for (but I suspect I've drunk most of the usual suspects).

This is what you want

I'd love to come back and say I had, but that's a 1000 mile round trip from where I'll be. The burger looks worth it, but I don't think I'll be able to convince work to pay for the extra travel.

Plus I'm only going for a couple of days, it would take longer than my trip to eat that bad boy.

Along the coast there, seafood is pretty much the thing to get... Ever had Magic Hat beer? It's from Vermont and goooood.

When are you coming to the States? Maybe I can meetup w/you for a beer. Newburyport isn't too far away and I think there are a couple shops I want to visit in Southern NH.

Magic Hat doesn't ring a bell as one I've had, so I'll definitely look out for that.

Land on the 12th, fly back evening of the 15th. Will be about on 12th, 13th and 14th (although I may have to be schmoozed by the company on one of those nights).

The place you're visiting doesn't sound like much of a dining destination. If you want to eat well or interestingly, I would go to Boston if you can.

two years pass...
Same question, different trip.

2 nights Washington (staying in Alexandria), 2 nights Morgan Hill CA, 1 night Ottawa. (Yes, in 6 days. Work sucks sometimes.)

As you can see from the schedule, too busy for FAPPAGE (unless maybe Sun 26th Nov in Washington) but advice on local dishes to eat welcome.

I guess I expect to see people say Po'Boy (some of the other people who are on parts of the trip want to go to the Union Street Public House, and I've skimmed their menu) and poutine at some point, but open to suggestions.
